Of the same price I’d take the AWD all day long.
Very hard to justify the extra cost for an AWD LR now that the RWD LR is available. An extra 50km real world range but less than a second slower to 100 that most people will never appreciate. Slightly faster charging on DC also I think? Even if the AWD and the RWD were the same price I think I'd buy the RWD instead.
Yes, RWD is gone. Same as USA. The new base LR is RWD.
Maybe clearing stock for refresh car.
Standard range RWD seems to be gone. ~€3k (I think) jump in price for the LR though, although a second has been dropped off the 0-100 time as well.
Yep, Juniper nickname. Due in 2025.
Also looks like changes on the Tesla site at the moment. LR RWD in there.
Looks like a refresh for the model Y

Slightly higher consumption. slightly harder ride. but I wouldn’t swap the 20” wheels for the 19” wheels any day personally.
Ha, thanks. Bit annoyed at myself for not thinking about this before hand, I just assumed that I’d be able to collect it from their place in Cork.
The car I’ve ordered has the 20” wheels - any noticeable difference with these compared to the standard wheels, beyond the stated slight drop in range?
Many before you. 1. get a lift to Dublin. 2. get the train to Dublin. 3. get the bus to Dublin. 4. basically get to Dublin 😂
I just placed the 250 deposit on a new but in inventory model Y after test drive today - bit of an impulse as there was only 1 non-demo regular range model in inventory and can't really wait to order one from scratch as need the car fairly soon. Exciting!
1 thing I didnt really factor in, the car says that it is in located in Dublin, but I'm in the south. The sales guy was saying it was 50-50 if I'd be offered the option of the car being delivered to Cork for collection. Even in that case I'm assuming someone would be physically driving it down anyway and the risk that entails? Probably better off just trying to make it Dublin to collect myself I imagine? Anyone had a similar situation?
yes and it’s a Peugeot. Surprised they changed because I know of lots of people who bought it because of the three individual isofix seats. Yeah they EV9/Q7 are outrageously expensive. I had read somewhere one of the teslas had 3 isofix in the back and lots of room because of no engine for buggies shopping etc. Thanks everyone for the input
New model 5008 due here shortly only has 2 in the centre row.
I noticed that recently. Everything was R129 compliant. I guess laying the child across the back seat is frowned open now days 😂
EV9/Q7 would be a significant class above the Tesla so hadnt really considered them in the context of this post. And twice the price so way beyond the segment/bracket of the car mentioned.
I’m surprised the 5008 has 3 isofix in the rear so that would really open that car up for a lot of people depending on its price?
The Kia EV9(2nd and 3rd row), Audi Q7(3 isofix in 2nd row) and Peugeot 5008(3 isofix in 2nd row) are the only decent cars I'm aware of that have 3 isofix points in the rear. Otherwise, your only options are typical 7 seaters. There are two regulations governing child seats, both running concurrently for now. The first is the UNECE R129, this is the newest regulation which is based on the child's height. R129 seats are side impact tested in addition to front and rear(dummy tested with 32 sensors), R44 seats(dummy tested with only 4 sensors) are only tested for front and rear impacts. You can legally use a R44 seat without isofix in the middle, but you shouldn't. R44 seats cannot be sold within the EU since 1st September from retailers or online, but you can still buy from the UK.
I have a booster(occasionally), Be safe high back booster and a Axkid Minikid ERF seat (chunky) in mine. Would use seat belt extenders if was doing regularly and would use a narrower ERF seat too.
Great family car
Do any cars have 3 isofix in the back?
I think there’s only 2 on most cars of this bracket/segment.
Only 2 iso fixes unfortunately and we only use one with the joey. Booster in the middle and high back on the outside. Those are tricky ages alright with car seats, ours are 6, 4 and youngest is 5 months.
Boosters seats are narrow enough. I will have a 4 year old two year old and a baby. So would three isofix car seats fit in the backseat or any other suggestions welcome?
we've a joey 360, a high back booster and a regular booster in our model Y. We got seat belt extenders for the two boosters to help plugging in the belt
Space yes, 3 car seats? Dont think so.
You can fit 3 depending on the brand/orientation. There is a lot of space in the boot and subfloor, side storage pockets, also the frunk. You should visit the Tesla Centre for a look. It has flaws, like most cars, but they're cracking value IMO
Tons of space compared to a Model 3 for example. More than a G30 5 series or similar too. The lack of transmission tunnel helps.
More head room for sure.
It’s all relative to what you’re comparing it too. Go look at a few different cars and bring the kids with you.
They used to be lower from memory. Maybe this is the charge as it’s going through the warranty process.
They even had diagnostic charge on the form. Normally they wouldn’t charge you for that if getting the work done.
Not too bad even if you did have to pay for it out of warranty. €165 per hour is a bit heavy as a labour charge though.
Less than the timing chain on the E60 a few years ago too, by a good margin too!
Hopefully that’s it. There’s not too many failure points on the Y, other than battery of course
Less than I paid for a turbo on a TDI Golf ~15 yrs ago
Car returned today.
Rear Drive Invertor replaced. Shows a cost of €899 for the part (I’d say plus VAT). labour at €165 per hour (3 hours).
Covered under warranty of course and Tesla said it would be part of the drive unit so covered under the 8 year warranty.
Not high at motorway speed, most similar sized EVs would be 20+ at motorway speed.
So I drive from Limerick to Galway for Cannonball on Sunday morning. All motorway and just under the speed limit, it was about 16C. Two adults and 3 small kids. Consumption was 180wh/km Model Y RWD. I never pay too much heed to this but it does appear to be on the high side to me ?
I’m Still getting €40k for the cash price.
Edit.
Just seen this at the top of the page.
