most likely the issue
I seem to recall if at the self service checkout, the real rewards discount doesn't come off till the very end so even if scanned it might still show the full price until it asks for payment
I scanned card and it didn't adjust the on screen display of my shopping, so I wasn't going to proceed any further. That's the point at which you should see your final bill.
Is the “flash deal” just for 24 hours or…?
Did you click finish and pay?
There on for a week.
Thanks a lot
No don't think i did, their software should know i have 2 Cheerios scanned in and have the offer applied.
I'll try next time to see if it needs you to go right through the process, but their loss.
I find the supervalu offers to be generally applied. Sometimes they look for club card and sometimes they don't.
I'm fairly sure you've to hit finish and pay tough. I almost certain this is the case with Tesco. When you hit finish and pay the money all flies off.
I noticed this when I went shopping a couple of days ago — the self-scan list of products will never show the products at a discount nor will it show any reductions as a separate entry however your final total will reflect the discount.
I only really noticed as when it came to pay, everything from the rewards offers were still showing their original price, but my total was matching (well, after the DRS deposits were included) the total I was keeping track of as I was shopping (I keep track in a calculator so I can be sure I'm buying enough to get to the minimum spend).
So in this instance, while both Cheerios boxes would still say €3.50 each on the machine, your total should still only be €4 when it comes time to pay.
I'll bear this in mind, but would make more sense to show it once the qualifying products are scanned in.
I can confirm that the "2 for xxx" also take the non reward amount first (like the single item). Then the voucher, then the reward discount.
Thanks @Seve OB !
Yep, you're right, both Tesco and SV self-service tills don't show you the discounts taken off until you have actually paid.
On the other hand, Dunnes and Lidl self-service tills show the discounts being applied as you scan.
The one good thing about the self service tills is the theatre it provides for the rest of us as we float through the traditional area interacting with people while we watch others working for the supermarket for free getting frustrated hitting buttons and listening to weird noises and commands from their computer overlords.
(And that's probably the longest sentence I've ever written in my life 😁.
Definitely Guinness book of records material. Don't know why anyone shops in SV. Prices are extortionate
Still better than Lidl's forced labour camp vibe tills that shout at you immediately after your scanning pace falls slightly below their pre-programmed work rate.
got 2 boxes wine this am, sign says only 2 per member, anyone know if that’s per transaction or will it flag if you use your reward card another time and not allow the offer?
Own brand pricing is pretty okay versus the other supermarkets.
I think if I was getting a similar basket of own brand goods versus Aldi/Lidl, SV would work out about the same price once the weekly money off voucher is factored in.
Generally you can work away in my experience unless they want to be strict about it.
Herself works in supervalu and telling me about a customer going mad as couldn't get 5 tea bags as 2 per card
Oh I'll go to another supervalu and get more
Lidl plus is 1 per app, but some stuff is multi use
Seems to bring out the worse in people
I'd say that must have been a living on the edge experience for everyone in that SuperValu.
I'd swear they are trained to hypnotise the next person in the queue to feel empathy for the person in front even when you have nothing but sympathy for them both.
aldi doesn't show discount until after payment either
The next customer couldn't believe her carry on and was delighted to get two boxes as didn't even know the offer was on
I don't think I've ever used an Aldi self-service till or even come across one.
They are in some stores but not all… Aldi Coolock has them but Bayside (newer) does not.
First of the tubs!
@freshpopcorn I'd be lost without your regular posts about the SuperValu deals, always a a bargain or 2 that I was going to buy anyway and then usually pick up another few bargains while I'm in there.
They're the best for the yellow label half price stuff as there's usually a couple of days left to "best before".
Much appreciated.
No problem!
Half ways through October!
Well, 2 for €3 is better than 3 for €5; but I guess we're never going to get back to the heights of 3 for €4, are we?
Offer valid 17th October - 6th November 2024
Also, jesus christ how expensive have the Dolmio stir-ins become? I mean, they're nice but they're still not €2 nice — especially since you can get a delish Aldi own-brand tomato and bacon pot for €1.05!
SuperValu is gtf had to give them the heave ho
Pork chops sliced like rashers and the food is dirt
