the mystery of disappearing posts.
Doesn't explain why the Pro Performance is £46,250 (before options) in the UK
and only €39,025 (before options) here.
I've put in a finance request for a red one with pana roof anyway. If it sneaks through….
EDIT: ignore me
Is there any truth to this? It would mean a haircut of approx 10k on the price of the base model no? Sounds too good to be true.
Different incentives and VRT? As I recall the threshold for their incentives is much lower now, below £30k maybe?
If it does go through then the GTX Pro Performance looks like a pretty good deal for the bigger battery and extra power, plus the added comforts
Worth saying the base model in Germany is the 52kWh Pure which isn't available yet here
Another consideration is that the EV sales drop in Germany has been somewhat compensated by increasing sales across Europe, overall sales are down 5% but something like 25% in Germany
Obviously with Germany being a key market for VW they're eager to sell cars there even if that means taking a hit on the profit margin
So while I wouldn't be surprised if there's no sub €30k model here, we might be getting one for just over €30k if the Pure arrives here
Real shame there's no 58kWh GTX/VZ or whatever the current battery size is, I don't need 79kWh for my 28km commute and the extra ~100-150kg will just hurt the handling...
It's down to the discharge rate, 240kW is about a 3C discharge rate for a 79kWh battery which is the limit for most current batteries
Same power from the 59kWh battery would be 4C which is pushing the limits a bit if you want to avoid accelerated degradation
I think the Pro can be upgraded to 170kW after purchase, there's a warning in the configuration that the certificate of conformity lists the higher output
cupra born is 170kw/231ps with mid sized battery
These cars are much more capable than when first released.
Thinking about trading a 1st ID3 202 reg for a GTX 286hp. What the groups thoughts?
trim level on GTX was fairly spartan when I looked at it but that is another country website.
Would you not consider a low mileage used ID.4 GTX instead ? Some of them are keenly priced at the minute.
I have an id4 already
If you need the extra power,
its an extra €1,745 to upgrade to the GTX Performance, and probably worth the extra, it has quite a bit of extra kit, the GTX basic model is quite spartan as has been said, has the Matrix Lights, but missing a few comforts like rear view camera, parking assistance, Harmon Kardon sound system (described as Beats system in the vehicle configurator), and a few other bits.
I noticed that, I'm happy with the base GTX getting a good price for my 1st but I am unsure the pricing of the GTX is incorrect compared to other countries.
Well it’s €39k before options here, £46k in the UK before options, and €48,250 in Germany before options. Red paint in Germany is a €960 option. In the UK it costs £885. In Ireland, it only costs €339. That’s not normal.
If you still need to be convinced, I can’t do anymore.
I agree there is something very odd about the Irish prices. Go on any car manufacturers(all not just VW) Irish website and then UK or Germany or Spain and every time Ireland pays way more than any other country. So something not right about Irish prices on a new more powerful model.
Base GTX would be lower spec than the 1st I think?
I'm convinced that someone in VW Ireland is about to lose their job
It must be a glitch, but if a few folks get orders in before VW fixes it then good for them
That's what I am thinking, hopefully I will get my order in before it gets fixed and they honour the price. Main thing is the bigger battery and matrix lights over my basic 1st
I doubt anyone would lose their job, every single time new pricing comes in for January/July there's always differences between the pricelist and configurator, the configurator doesn't work properly, price list is inconsistent etc. I could understand if it was a dealer getting it wrong but the fact VW Ireland clearly never proof read their stuff is bonkers.
We also always seem to be one of the last countries to have stuff live on the configurator, to get prices or to just have cars to test in general.
Placed order today for a GTX, no extras. Got a very hood price for my 1st. Hopefully the strangely well priced car stays the same
I'll be honest I wouldn't be surprised if VW Ireland didn't know how many wheels the car had
Don't get me wrong, I love my ID.4 and I'm trying to persuade the missus to get an ID.3
But as a company VW Ireland, and all their dealerships are absolute morons
EDIT: Okay I'll refine that, all the Joe Duffy dealerships are morons, haven't heard anything good about Frank Keane either.
Outside Dublin seems better, dealerships can tell the front end of a car from the back end
@Liam2021 Fair play. What timeline did they give?
Should have it first few days of January. Loved my 1st never had any issues so hopefully this will be as good
Ignore
Ha ha, one of the dealerships wanted to hire me yesterday as I knew more about the car then the sales person. Dealership as mentioned above.
Did you request that date, or that’s what was given?
Did you option anything?
Requested the early January date. Spent a lot of time looking at option packs but decided that I was happy to add none. Only thing extra is the mats but the garage is paying for them.
try wexford Volkswagen. We came across a brilliant salesperson there recently. Really knew her stuff.
