There's a new cafe below Jam now, Daniel's Cafe. Run by the same people who have Christina's in the square. Which is being renovated at the moment.
I saw that Therapie Clinic is going in next to Peter Marks in Abbey Court. They were due to open a clinic here a few years ago but it fell through.
The Abbey Inn has had a lick of paint! Looks well. I guess whoever is planning to reopen it is getting things underway! I wonder if it will be open for Christmas?
What do they do?

Oh sorry, I thought you were talking about the Abbey Inn...a lot of people come out of there after an expensive night out looking very different to when they went in too....
The James hotel featured on RTE tonight. I still haven't been in there, looks great though!
They have the same colour exterior paint as I have. Good to see them following trends 😁
A new fast food joint has opened in the closed one on Boherbee. All new interior. I don't see any great offers.
I wonder will they open at 9pm. The one thing I hate with this town. All the decent chippies close at 9.
Yes, I'd say the same. Will certainly be visiting when I'm next in Tralee.
I see they've got rid of voiceover lady on 'At Your Service', it's the 2 Brennan's doing all the talking now, which gets a bit repetitive.
I thought John was very negative, almost had a 'How dare you think you can run a hotel' kinda vibe
In a way though, he had to ask what much of the audience were thinking. It was clear they were inexperienced which makes their courage and willpower all the more admirable. Thinking their restaurant would mainly be for hotel guests....they must not go on city breaks often as most people under 60 would mainly use a hotel as a sleeping base and explore the city and town they're visiting for the restaurants and bars etc Also making the main front aspect of it a shop was madness...imagine being greeted by a vape or phone repair shop as you check in...as that's what would invariably occupy it. Looks so much better seeing The James name as you drive up Princes St. towards it now!
Well done to the family. They've done a fabulous job. I'd almost be tempted to book in myself despite having a free gaff in town! 😂
I was thinking the same about the retail unit. I remember when I heard they were doing that a while back and I thought what did they think would go in there, there's so many empty units in town as it is. John was right to say don't do that, make it the reception. I think he was right about them being inexperienced. Running a hotel isn't for the faint hearted, even if you are experienced. They had zero experience in any aspect of it, so they did need to hear it from 2 men who have run a very successful hotel.
I have heard the pint of Guinness isn't the best in there, although I was told by a couple of people that its even worse in Vals!
Yeah, I'd agree with a lot of that on the James. The bar is very nice in there though. I've been there twice now and it's a lovely setup. All the pubs in that street seem to serve Lagunitas IPA, the one I had in Vals was absolutely toxic, flat and stale.
This is confirmed, Forge pizza are moving to the old Chopin's on Ashe street.
Can anyone recommend someone who could supply and fit a tow bar?
Thanks
The upstairs tapas bar at The Fiddler in The Square is closing. Pity... but I did feel after eating there twice, the tapas menu started feeling a bit repetitive in that you wouldn't just keep returning. Hopefully a new occupant can fill it as it's a lovely setting and interior.
that's a shame, I was there last Christmas and it was really nice. I have been meaning to go back, but never got a chance.
when is the tapas place closing ? I was hoping to go there tomorrow night
It looks like its already closed judging by their Facebook page

That was it throughout. And they did in the end get a manager and broadly took their advice.
Tralee featured on 'Cheap Irish Homes'. There is an oxymoron if ever I heard one.
PS I heard I think on Matt Cooper recently that Tralee features as having among the dearest rents in the country after the big cities. How that is I have no idea but apparently so.
Looks like the schoolhouse is sale agreed. I assume they bought it
I imagine a lot of the rents is due to having a university and hospital
Looks like the Revenue are now doing their bit with a wind-up (or wind-down according to the Indo) of Ballyseedy Restaurant Ltd.

appearing again in court next week 14th October
The week after next. 😛
Will that affect the current iteration?
Lads is there post delivered in Tralee on Saturdays? I work in the town but live outside it, but always got Amazon stuff delivered to work. Two weeks in a row I've got notifications from Amazon that they are delivering my package, on a Saturday, then it fails obviously because we don't work Saturday. This didn't happen before with Amazon.
