There's a standard range,a long range and a performance model.
Again... you're not comparing the same spec. I gave a screenshot of the equivalent options on a new car. I can't make it any clearer. I wouldn't pay the extra for EAP but that's what it costs if you add the EAP and better wheels. You can't just pluck a RWD, 18" wheels and no EAP and say its the same spec... clearly options cost more on cars by all manufacturers.
I just mentioned a standard range M3 on carzone,is it your car or something - no one mentioned auto pilot or upgrades.
I was refering to the spec being sold by Tesla directly. It's not just €3.5k less than a new equivalent.
spec up a white RWD, but add the 19” wheels and EAP and then come back to us.
Pah was the one who said a new one was only 3.5k more.
The point being made is that it's not just 3.5k more when you price up the same spec as the one Pah was referring to.
Question on navigation and I'm assuming the answer is no to the first two but they are both annoying me:
1. Is there anyway to preheat the battery when using non tesla chargers which is pretty much going to be everytime I use a fast charger.I was only getting 50kw at Ionity Kill south because of a cold battery after being parked up in the airport. I know you can trick it by putting a supercharger in the nav but that seems a bit annoying.
2. Is there anyway to include non tesla superchargers into the automated route planner when charging is required? Again the lack of a meaningful supercharger network in Ireland makes the existing functionality a bit useless. It looks like a great feature when used elsewhere as it calculates the best chargers and at what state of charge to pull in.
3. How do you have navigation turned on but sound turned off on it? I'm assuming I am missing something very obvious but it's handy to have Nav on to see final state of charge sometimes but don't want to be listening to it telling me where to go on a route I've done a million times.
Note The navigation settings available can vary depending on region and vehicle configuration.
The navigation settings icon displays when you touch ... once you start navigating to a destination. Note You can also access navigation settings by touching Controls > Navigation. Touch the navigation settings icon to customize the navigation system to suit your preferences (the available settings vary depending on your market region and vehicle configuration):
Navigation Guidance: Touch Voice to enable an audible reading for navigation instructions. Touch - or + to increase or decrease the volume of spoken navigation instructions. Decreasing all the way to the left or touching the speaker icon mutes the instructions. You can also mute/unmute navigation instructions by touching the speaker icon. This volume setting applies only to the navigation system's spoken instructions. Volume for Media Player and Phone does not change.
Now click into the standard range and add the 19” wheels and EAP like the other car to get a try comparison.
Whether it’s worth it or not is a different argument.
1 Yes, if you hit navigate, charging, then select the charger. It do it with the Esb charger in Killarney for example. Works well
It depends on the charger. Some locations will activate pre-heating. Others wont. I can be very frustrating. eg Ionity Athlone doesn't work, so I have to put in ESB Athlone (N6 Kilmartin) instead.
That's a bit annoying, I must be lucky as it works for me on my routes. We should be able to activate it manually anyway.
Is the Tesla mapping reasonably up to date - e.g. would all of the recent Weev 150kW locations in the border counties be present in maps and activate preconditioning such as Connaughton Road in Sligo or Buncrana in Donegal?
a charger will only appear in the Tesla’s nav page if it meets certain criteria..
The criteria being it must be used regularly enough by Tesla’s, and also deliver reliable speeds.
Chargers can show up and then drop out of the list all depending on how often they are reliably used by Tesla’s.
So are the chargers in my example in Sligo/ Buncrana, present in the Tesla maps (nav page) today?
No I didn't either, not really familiar with Tesla.
I never paid for it, but had it on 3 cars. 2xMS and 1x M3P. After having it, I’d love it again. But I wouldn’t pay €3800. I’d get it if they offered it on the referral scheme using credits though.
I don’t know why they don’t as it’s simply a software update for them, same as AB, and that’s on it for 5000 credits.
The car I mentioned on carzone didn't mention autopilot (I couldn't see it anyway), it did have upgraded alloys and white interior though for 40k 2021 model 3 sr.
what’s the story with getting a flat tyre in a Model 3?
I only ask as I was talking with them about trying to time an order for January delivery and then got into servicing and the guy was saying if you get a flat you should get a special Tesla tyre to have them all the same (hmmmm).
Anyway. I see there is no spare but I assume there is nothing wrong with getting one and changing on the spot and then getting it repair and refitted? Unles there is something complicated with the tyre pressure sensors?
Insane asking price regardless of options ticked.
Just like most other cars, no spare. Options :
I have Holts tyreweld sealant in my Ioniq 5, it's water based apparently and can be washed out by tyre fitters unlike the normal stuff which goes hard and destroys the tyre and you'll need a new tyre (Apparently?).
I don’t use them so can’t confirm what’s better than another. My local tyre guy told me the gunk can be cleaned out but it’s a manual process and to drop it down if I ever have to use it.
He just said he rips away at it over a day or 2 and it can then be fitted again with a plug.
I've never had to use it ,touch wood?,🤞
Ok, nothing complicated so really. Thanks
I suspect some rogue tyre fitters use it as a bit of an excuse to convince some more innocent customers to buy a new tyre…
Nope, same as every other car before it 👍
There’s probably some technical literature that recommends not re-using.
Appreciate may be unable to answer, but I have never ordered a car like this. Say I decided to go for the model 3 but wanted to collect for the start of the year, as in a 251 car. What is the best way to go about it, it will be by financing also. Thanks for any help with it.
Order now, see when delivery is. If it’s before end of December, then reject it. Wait for the next boat in 2025. Could be January, could be June, then you’re into, ohh I want 252 instead of 251…..
If you like the car, and will be keeping it for many years then 242 or 251 will have little difference in 5 years. Look at 192 and 201 cars now and their retrospective price points second hand.
You may end up spending any potential future value on keeping the ICE running between now and then. Basically, Tesla won’t hold the car. If it’s 31st December and you ask to wait a day, the computer says no, typically.
the gunk might not work in an acoustic tyre as if the puncture is where the foam insert is attached to the tyre, it might not penetrate though the foam enough to seal the puncture.
I carry a plug kit & 12v compressor and have successfully repaired 2 punctures in Model 3’s.. one of which (my own), I put another 30,000km on a repaired puncture….
