It’s a known channel, but completely meaningless commentary without knowing the game being referred to. I’ve no doubt many games will be capable of running at high frame rates with decent ~1440p image quality on PS5 Pro - because some games already run that well on PS5 standard. GoW Ragnarok, for example, runs pretty much as well as any AAA PC game already. The Touryst already runs at 8K60. It stands to reason games will run better on improved hardware.
Some developers will easily be able to achieve 120 FPS performance (or at least performance that runs comfortably within a high VRR window) with minimal optimisation. Others will choose to push for improved image quality or ray tracing features instead of high frame rates. Others will continue to be limited by the minimally improved CPU, or just won’t have the ability or interest in optimising the game further. You just have to look at PC to see how the best, most expensive hardware on the market still runs into software limits and can’t achieve everything at once in the most demanding games.
Obviously a pitch of salt is needed with any rumours. I don't know this channel but it looks legit enough. Saying he has seen a Dev show him that just unlocking the frame rate on pro gave them over 100hrtz and that 4k Ultra locked at 60 is likely to be fairly achievable.
As I've said lads go into your local smyths in person and ask for the disc drive, that's what I did and they had a few of them on the floor behind the till covered in dust. All the 16 year olds working there must not know how to update stock online but I'd almost guarantee there's at least 1 in store if you go in.
There is an option to get emailed when they are back in stock that's how I managed to get it ordered got email to say back in stock and went to site and ordered it.
That was fast just picked my drive up at my local Curry's ordered Sunday delivered Tuesday lunchtime nice turnaround👍

I collect prints from an awesome crowd called Bottleneck Gallery and the prints are similarly numbered and in low quantities. They cancel sales when they identity a resale on ebay as well as they are good at working out who the seller is. I was once on a waiting list for a sold out Drive print and benefitted from it when they reached out to me after a cancellation. Hopefully some actual fans get those consoles now.

Sony have also apparently started cancelling orders that are confirmed to be by resellers on Ebay etc. on the Direct store. That's what happens when you put an image with your order number up on an auction site.
Sony Japan are limiting 30th anniversary bundles to PSN accounts with a min of 30hours of play time. At least it's something. Wouldn't work here with Smyths obviously but at least it's trying.

I watched digital foundry's hands on with it and they did a better job of selling it to me then Sony did.
PS5 disc drives are back in stock at Currys. Just ordered one online in advance of November.

1 month and 3 weeks to get my new controller 😒 Would love to use it soon, I'm using the Rise 4 remap kit on a standard dualsense and one of the paddles is a bit loose.
There'll definitely be more stock coming soon with the Pro being released.
Have Smyth's said they will restock the drive? I would probably pre-order a pro if I could a drive now or around launch.
Go into your local smyths and ask, that's what I did, even though no stock showing online they had some disc drives in store
Make sure your card details are on your account they'll take 1 cent for authorisation and give it back to you.
Seems to be hit and miss when they take full payment. Sometimes they take pre ordered items payment a week or so before, other times they don't take anything and you pay at the counter in store on the day of collection. Hard to know which it'll be for the PRO.
I got the standard controller in the 30th anniversary colours, I've never liked the see through buttons on the ps5 colours so this ticks all the boxes for me
Probably a good thing that anniversary edition is sold out, I probably would have gone for it so saved myself a few hundred as I already have the Edge. That colour scheme though… damn they good! The Edge is tempting me because the darker colour is better for the grips, which are now a lovely shade of yellow on mine, regardless of cleaning.
But have the pre-order confirmation, so just need to ask my new employers for holidays that weekend! Will hopefully be able to pick up the drive not too long afterwards, hopefully a hape of stock comes in for/just after the Pro launches. Just won't be playing any new games until I get one.

Getting flashbacks to using autohotkey to autofill the harvey norman checkout on ps5 launch day. Got me a launch day console. Only had a few seconds before the site completely crashed for hours. Autohotkey is a great tool for that.
I didn't get an authorisation either but did get the email confirmation. But my card is saved on the account which explains that I'd say.
It took one cent off my card then put it back - which means it's authorised. I never get the full on authorisation request when ordering with them.

Hi folks, I ordered the regular PS5 Pro and the Anniversary PS Portal this morning via Smyths on separate orders . I realise they do not take the money now but I still never got my normal authorisation when making card payments. Usually even for pre orders it pings your card so you have to approve it on bank app
Did anyone else have similar?

Same here. Just got lucky(??? €1100!) I suppose.
They were gone by 10.01. I had mine in the basket on the button as was refreshing the page like mad. Once I paid (at 10.01), I went back and they were sold out. I'd well believe the 30 figure that sniper_samurai gave.
Annoying, was online just before 10, then work got in the way, sold out by 10.15 when back online. Was the only way gonna pre order a pro so at least it's saved me some cash on something shiny that I don't really need... still would have been nice.
Have 3 special edition controllers already (Spider, GoW, Astro) which seems a bit excessive for just little old me, not sure whether to go for controller again, Jordan's bad influence running amuck!
