Twas open by some crowd after but it was a bit of a corpse, remember being asked if I wanted to do the door somewhere around 2016
Could it work as a Cafe? Tis got great road frontage as they say.
Rest of the Commercial Units here and nearby are occupied.

I would like if it could become something youth or community oriented, I think it's location is more visible than the other centre but it's so hard to do, I mean I'm a total case in point, lovely idea but I wouldn't have a notion of trying to do it
For those wanting a bit of a background into the Bransky's unit, there's a recent High Court judgment (Cambervale Ltd v. Westside Shopping Centre Ltd [2024] IEHC 61) that delves into some of the details.
TLDR; the company that currently holds the leasehold interest for the unit wants to sell but consent to assign the lease is being withheld by the ultimate owner of the Shopping Centre. The Shopping Centre won in the Circuit and High Courts. Looks like it'll be idle for the forseeable.
I think it would be great as a quality bar/restaurant in the mold of Sheridan's in Knocknacarra. There is such a lack of good restaurants/bars on this side of town.
I know people say Westside is too rough but it really has changed in the last 7 years and is only going to change for the positive - especially if the primary care centre is built across the road.
Looks like there is a Mexican restaurant going into the premises on Eglinton street where Eddie Rockets and most recently the wings place was.
Maxi Zoo opened new store adjacent Lidl, Headford Rd, on 13 Sept. They had 20% off everything. Yis missed it!
There is a restaurant & pub going into Ballyburke at the Blake roundabout, with two storey flats above it - it has not been built yet. However the section for the pharmacy, medical centre, shop, café, is built but not fitted out
The proposed amendments: 1. Change of use from Restaurant use to Bar and Restaurant use. 2. Alterations to building elevations and height. 3. Associated minor amendments to parking, site levels and ancillary site works
Redevelopment of the Park has really helped the area, getting more people out and about using the facilities at all hours of the day. Bar might struggle been that bit closer to town? Maybe not. Cafe would imagine would have enough day time trade. Letteragh Road Developements bringing more people to the area within walking distance and once Student apartments are built on the Westside Shopping Centre car park near the Church and Primary Care Centre is built - going to have a lot more footfall in the area.
The Spanish food shop in the shopping centre (it's a couple of doors up from Lingerie shop) has closing down sale signs on the window and looks more than half empty.
There are two cafes and a McDonalds just around the corner. Not sure that another cafe would have enough foot traffic in that area, especially not with the history that comes with the particular unit. (I've met some who look fondly back on what a great pub it was!)

Cope Charity Shop open in Newtownsmith, where Born used to be. Good to see something in that space.
An Asian Shop getting ready for business on Galway Road in Tuam formerly Ability West and formerly a Weight Management business . Was "Moonlight Blue" convenience store (Fahy's) years ago
They already have an outlet in Galway City, so nice to see them expanding.
They could have made the frontage more inviting. It wouldn't really draw you in unless you had intended going there anyway.
I've noticed that with a lot of ethnic type shops.
Haven't seen it, but I imagine the budget isn't there for snazzy shopfronts when you're not a chain store. I imagine franchise outfits like Spar, Centra etc pay for the shop frontage.
Good luck to them anyway. Hope they do well.
But that's how a lot of "speciality" shops work, they don't always need a passing trade, their customers seek them out.

There's a similar ethnic shop in Tralee with a sign over the door called "Tralee Supermarket"!! I think there is a cultural and language translation difference in how such businesses feel the need to market themselves. As mentioned above, it's customer base is already there so they don't need to try and woo new customers.

I'd say Mary Mullen's bar has taken all their business. Hopefully the building doesn't lie idle for years now.
