Starting a thread for 2025 gigs as they'll likely start rolling in.
I'll arbitrarily throw in Rob Beckett playing the Olympia on the 26th September 2025 which went on sale today.
A GD fan page thing a few weeks back with Download and Hurricane fests logos, and since been confirmed. Must be close to headliners being confirmed.
So guessing Green Day, Slipknot are two of the headliners
It's not reactionary
I and others have discussed it long before Coldplay decided to help by forgoing some of their very considerable profits squeezed from their fans who especially in the UK have not much left for smaller bands and venues as a result ..precisely because of the reasons you give above but you don't think exorbitant ticket prices are a problem ?
And they are not the only ones ,as evidenced by the multitude of posts on here and other threads decrying the cost of tickets set by these greedy groups and their promoters .
Stop moving goalposts ..I clearly said it was a UK issue but if we hit the dizzy heights of stadium concerts as they have in the UK and we are going down that route Ireland will be losing smaller gigs and venues .
Now I am fed up with replying to you on this over and over and don't want to argue with you really seathrún .
You have your opinion and I have mine..
let's leave it at that .
Slipknot after 2 years would be a lazy booking unless somebody bails out.
Oh I agree but I feel since they are doing RAM/RIP unless they plan on doing a Knotfest type of thing on their own I'd be shocked if they are not announced
Latitude announcing Sting tomorrow
The proportion of large stadium and other outdoor gigs here easily matches the UK per capita, but more likely surpasses it given their population is thirteen times that of ours. And yet there’s still no current threat to small venues. There’s still a need to stop dynamic pricing and ticket gouging yet that’s not having an effect on the venues here.
As you’ll have observed on this thread the posters here go to gigs big and small, though overwhelmingly the latter. There’s no shortage of takers for tickets for the Róísín, Workman’s, Cyprus Avenue, Dolan’s, etc.
Many of us spent the overwhelming majority of gigs in these smaller auditoria and were they in trouble then help from the likes of U2, Fontaines, Valentines, etc would be hugely appreciated. To whine about the generosity of Coldplay, Enter Shikari and others is just a little knee-jerk don’t you think? There’s thus no need to wonder why other artists don’t come forward if this is the response they face. I don’t really care about Coldplay as a band but as people they’ve been consistently decent on leftish issues and for that I admire them.
" Whine " , ok , sorry to disagree with you but no point fighting over it .
Fair I think, as I believe you were unfair to the band. But I’d just edited the post above to remove words like begrudgery and lacerating as too harsh. I just believe their hearts are in the right place regarding helping the venues. We’ll just agree to disagree. All the best and enjoy your gig-going.
Loves a show does Sting
Fair enough seathrun , was just coming back to edit my own post as getting a bit narky ..sorry .
I just worry where the extortionate prices are going in the long-term and my heart is with all those over in the UK trying to get by and still enjoy the music at smaller cheaper venues like we were lucky to do back in the day .
I do think they are worthy of some credit , after your arguments , just wish they all don't go to the dark side so quickly looking for more and more .
But at least they are giving something back, I agree , and maybe more will follow and do like wise .
You too.. enjoy and peace 🫱
Same here. The major problems lie with the Tories but unfortunately Labour ain’t going to shell out cash either. I hope to be proved wrong.

Fair point. Just seems earlier than usual compared to other years
take that announced in October last year and Florence announced her 2023 show in September 2022 so in same time frame.
Any truth in the rumour that Radiohead will be playing the Aviva Stadium next year?? Apparently they are set to tour next year to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the release of The Bends (please, please make it be true!)
Supergrass for Olympia, May 29th
That wouldn’t strike me as a very Radiohead thing to do. Where’s the rumour from?
Signals a Glasto set that weekend. Though he's doing IOW so maybe not. Not a fan but I'd check him out at a fest, his debut album was excellent.
