Kevin Branigan presumably - CEO of Radio Nova, and also of sister station Classic Hits. I don't know who Yvonne and Rupert are though.
Rupert Murdoch presumably, News being the owners of Wireless Group.
the little guy isn't benefiting as it is under the current system, in fact a small few operators are and are given the protection and preferential treatment you correctly state they shouldn't be given. the system we have is effectively state radio contracted to private operators to provide, the state mandates the content and business model to a very large extent and operators have to fit around that rather then operating to the genuine market. the only fair and equitable system for commercial radio is one where unelected civil servants are out of the board rooms of commercial stations and the operators are able to scale up and down based on circumstances, are able to provide the content they think their audience wants, and if it doesn't work they can change or sink.
and evonn is evonn bauer, owner of bauer media.
That might explain why the RHK was overflowing with Niall Horan fans last night !
Just tuned in this morning after not listening for a while! No PJ and Jim, are they off this week?
Yeah seems like it, whilst not as good as the lads, Dee and Nobby seem to work well together.
Nobby must be delighted to be back working on 'Dublins number 1 music station' since that title has moved from FM104 to Nova.
A lot of former FM104 presenters on Nova: Jim McCabe, Dee Woods, Mark Noble, Marty Miller and Greg Gaughren. Both CEO Kevin Branigan and current presenter of the Friday Night Rock Show Vikki Martin worked behind the scenes on FM104 as well.
they’ll be Radio Champagne SuperNova at some stage between now and those Oasis gigs! I 100(.3) percent guarantee it!
Come on Marty! You love Maiden but why don't you play some?
cos he prefers George Ezra, Dermot Kennedy.
I bet he's itching to play Ed Sheeran….
Someone blaring out a Maiden tune now
Do the DJs even get to choose the music they play these days, that's for Prufeamme director to manage the play list no?
Only guessing here, but between 7am -7pm seems more rigid than say even the first hour of morning glory or Greg's evening show, but still nothing overly out of the ordinary.
Morning Glory is PJ and Jim talking shyte. Very little music.
Greg's Saturday soundtrack seems to be less structured and restrictive music wise.
What music PJ and Jim pkwy is the same stuff over and over and, as you say, them talking shite. I like the talking but their music is absolutely dire.
I do agree with what others have been saying though that the music is a lot better after 7pm. It's much more varied. If I hear Sweet Dreams or We Are the Champions one more time in the morning I'll effing scream
another track they seem to love on nova is 'moonlight shadow' by mike oldfield/maggie reilly. somehow, i only heard this song for the first time ever on nova; and bar checking it out on youtube, i don't think i've ever heard it anywhere else. but they sure do like it on nova.
Surely the Nova Noise callers to Pat's show aren't genuine listeners. Every day they're the most ridiculous or previously tried guesses and his schtick with the callers is nearly as repetitive as the playlist.
Courtenay is a dreadful presenter………
the best presenter the station has. would you prefer to tune into emily brew or vikki martin ??
Marty Whelan plays it on his lyric FM breakfast show. 20 years ago it would have been played on Larry Gogans 2fm Golden hour, Jim O'Neils Today FM Sunday oldies show etc.
cheers - i wonder where they get the source material from - a couple of the source albums mentioned there are compilation albums rather than the original albums the songs were released on.
oh no, they are just as bad, but for me he's shocking.
I know it's all personal taste and that, but I can only really listen to PJ and Jim in the morning, and Greg Gaughran, all the others are really hard work listening to them.
Then of course there's Pat James, different class altogether…..
that rte playlist does not mean they source the song from the actual albums listed (that's just an album suggestion from a 3rd party provider if you wanted to buy the CD).
usually the songs would be sourced by RTE from a music provider as a download file.
Personally i think Pj, Jim and Dee are by far the best DJs on Nova.
Didnt realise she was on Nova at launch.
cheers - i phrased the question badly; i meant where they source the information badly. just seems odd that the 'primary' source of a song as well known as 'wichita lineman' could be listed as a **** sounding compilation album.
Initially Carol Dooley was mainly behind the scenes before she started having regular slots - mainly weekend evenings.
Jim is good on his own but paired with PJ it's like two 14 year old a schoolboys with Benny Hill humour.
Yeah, its painful to listen to their… half-wit banter.
Listen guys, you aint endured anything worse than this…
I worked in an office where the radio was tuned to some Irish station, played the same 12 songs all day long, with no DJ.
I still get PTSD when I hear JLO "on the floor" or "Monster".
Its known as Format radio
