Stand has been fully re-seated, the roof is the issue with it. Will probably be re-done.
I think this whole stadium plan is new. The same architects did a plan for the Hill entrance and the plaza along Millbrook end before. Road has been realigned now and the plaza idea is being developed.
Is it just a hurling thing that the lights are on for Saturday night games ?
Might be why I thought they were needed.
Yes but the actual championship is played in light even in the summer evening so no need for lights.
some one from monaghan may confirm or deny this but there is an agreement i believe with in monaghan that Innskeen and castleblaney get league games which both have floodlights.
So that would leave clones with maybe one league game a year that would need lights.
Heather Humpreys is already on the phone to the ulster council asking how much they want!
I love these vids so thanks for posting that.
Whilst it looks good with the extra corporate facilities and clean up of the area around the ground it does nothing for the actual stadium. Its the exact same as it is now except the terraced area behind the goal and on the hill are now seated. This would greatly reduce capacity. Also only one covered stand.
Surely they could be a bit more ambitious than that?
Those plans have been around for a while and Monaghan GAA were looking at this regardless of what happened in Belfast so the plan was for low intervention add on's and refurbishment.
It's madness that county grounds still don't have floodlights. Saturday night championship games are a thing now and sit gives greater flexibility for the club championship too.
I don't know tbh. I'd imagine they are there for flexibility(Other codes as well as GAA) and futureproofing.
I'd say they'd be better off knocking the existing stand and building again from scratch. What's there now is life-expired.
I see on that video it has floodlights and last week it got the money for them to allow extra intercounty games.
No floodlights are needed for ulster championship games so are monaghan no longer going to have league games in innskeen or castleblaney?
A vision of what Clones could be.

Jarlat Burns is saying since Casement will be a GAA only stadium it will be alot cheaper to build. So id say we are looking at a Main stand and open terraces.

Yes it is more covered.
No the Hogan is not more covered. The prevailing wind carries more rain into the Cusack stand similar with the Davin end, the Hogan side suffers less in wet conditions usually
Ya the Hogan is just more covered.
Unless it's a fully enclosed stadium you are gonna get this problem with a roof hanging 20 stories high.
The Hogan isn't fully covered either and sit near front in the Aviva and if its raining you won't be long getting wet.
You can see that the Hogan has an extra section of roof due to lessons being learned.
But it's not uncommon for a roof that high up in the air to be only partially effective.
I think the small area behind the one goal at the Aviva was due to the houses nearby and was part of the planning permission so that was done as best as was allowed by planning permission. Was not aware the Cusack stand was not fully covered.
Cusack stand is not full covered, Aviva have a shity stand behind goals .
How are Croke Park and the Aviva not "finished" as you said?
Why have we difficulty building proper stands in this country. You have bits of stands in some grounds ,some half covered etc.Even Croke Park and Aviva not rightly finished.
They'll need to go through design and planning again so they've a couple years to get it cleared.
Are they going to continue to clear the casement site at least so when funding is avilable they can build a ground for Antrim quickly?
The stadiums you listed are not "ready to go". They have conference facilities like PUC and like PUC, they would have to create the corporate hospitality village outside the stadium. Most don't have the required number of boxes and as full bowls, don't have scope to add more without major works. Only Coventry has a separate tier for VIP/corporate seats to give the required segregation but that's quite small at Coventry. None will have the required media desks and adding more with take from normal seats. Some have limited space outside for the necessary facilities there. All would require similar levels of work as PUC.
The top stadiums not already selected can't be used and what's left isn't amazing. I'm not saying it will be selected but when you look ar UEFA's requirements, the case for PUC is about as credible as any of them.
Four covered ends, Tallaght is an all-seater stadium. Both would be too small for a rugby world cup I'd reckon however unlike PuC.
What does Tallaght Stadium have, or Dalymount will have, that PUC does not have?
I mean we might host the rugby WC in 20 or 30 years maybe.
We'll have a new Dalymount Park in 5 years hopefully.
We've Tallaght stadium. PUC can be upgraded.
A few more new stadium's might be built by then.
I don't think it's too unrealistic. I don't think we were ready the last time.
It's the only major tournament I could see us hosting.
3K seated, with realistically the front seats not under cover. Not very ambitious for what is one of the most populous counties.
I was in St Conleth's Park during the week and they have a fine stand nearly complete. It holds 3k which seams a bit small for the size of the county but they have done there figures id say and they think thats big enoght. The whole ground will hold around 15k but.
Ireland had a disastrous bid for the 2023 RWC.
The technical report put them third of the three bidders when it came to infrastructure readiness etc.
Ireland hung their hat on the idea that NZ did a small scale RWC in 2011 and they could do the same.
Since then there has been a RWC in Japan and France and the next one ein the US, so the bar has only gotten higher.
Ireland alone will never host one.
UEFA don't care about geographic spread if the venue is better, I'm sure traveling fans would prefer less spread.
Much easier to get a train or drive than have to get a boat or plane.
Thomond Park (not Thomand) is too small. It has to be a minimum 30k capacity.
I would like it to be in Cork if possible and if the costs aren't ridiculous.
Thomand park might be another option.
It's probably the closest we'll get to hosting a major tournament although I think we'll host the rugby world cup eventually.
From Uefa's perspective I guess it gives the tournament more of a geographic spread then another game being hosted in England.
Anyway England can host anything it wants. This is the best we can do.
