Starting a thread for 2025 gigs as they'll likely start rolling in.
I'll arbitrarily throw in Rob Beckett playing the Olympia on the 26th September 2025 which went on sale today.
Ha forgot this was a James blunt quote.
Was about to say is this a Toploader quote as I literally don't know any of their other songs.
Hmmm..
Why were Music Venues Trust set up in the first place ?
Because big stadium concerts are sucking the life blood from the smaller venues in the first place .
This is virtue signalling..better than nothing I suppose but would not be praising them for it .
Teddy Swims announced a 2nd night for the 3Arena
I linked it earlier... His promoter is advertising Toploader for Dublin...

To be fair, 10% of revenues from 8 huge stadium shows could be anything up to £10m. Far from virtue signalling. If they were virture signalling they'd be posting about it without putting their money where there mouths are.
Except it doesn't say 10% of revenues, it says "10% of the band’s proceeds". So that's 10% of whatever is left over after the venue costs are covered, after the promoter gets their cut, after crew, logistics and equipment are paid for, etc.
10% of revenues would have been a little bit less than £4m if we go by the average revenue per gig reported for the tour so far. "10% of the band’s proceeds" will only be a fraction of that. But I'm sure it will still make a significant difference for the MVT.
I agree it's a large amount .
If they charged less for their concerts they would not be gifting so much ?
At least they are giving something back but still not heroes imo
I would prefer real efforts to help small venues and encourage younger/ up and coming bands .
Seen over 900 shows (according to my setlistfm stats anyway) - Maiden RDS the worst.
Over how many years? I’m such a novice……
My worst gig? Many years ago, living in London, a gang of us going to see Christy Moore in the Hammersmith Apollo on a Friday night. Got straight to the bar and Christy had insisted no alcohol to be served.
Luckily, if I ever see myself forgiving him, it wouldn’t be a problem nowadays.
You’d rather Coldplay didn’t save the venues by donating a very sizeable portion of their tour income? A band that launched their career playing those very venues that they want to help survive.
It is indeed ‘better than nothing’ btw. In fact it’s better than anything that anyone at all has done to extend the lifeblood of these great venues and I applaud them for it.
What was so bad about it? I remember the technical issues and crap support (although Turbonegro were a bit fun), but didn't think it was a bad show. Was no RHCP Oxegen 06 anyway!
Setlist fm stats? Is this where you type in what you attended, kinda similar to discogs and what's in your collection? If so you're even nerdier than me! Congrats.
Thats not what I am saying .
So Coldplay are "saving the venues " are they ?
They started themselves in those venues and should want to support them . They don't have to and are not obliged to , sure , but it is the larger stadium venues and high cost tickets that are causing so many smaller venues to be closed.
I am sure MVT will gladly accept the money and use it hopefully to good but Coldplay and big bands like them are a major part of the problem in the first place .
Good that they are attempting to give something back but it's going to need more than that and with more regularity by many more in the industry .
.For that I give them credit .
Edited now as site down for 2 + hours due to Cloudflare !
RHCP were really boring/crap at Oxegen 06 werent they? Was so annoyed as was really looking forward to them but just felt meh for most of their set
Class at Slane 03/Phoenix Park 04. Utter rubbish since then when I seen them at Oxegens 06, Croker and Marley Park a few years ago... Hard Fi at Oxegens maybe 2005 possibly one of the worst and modest mouse at the helix because of the sound
Yeh, exactly. Similar to my discogs (!) not everything in there, but I went past 900 at End of the Road.
Yeah it just seemed flat. Maybe cos Kaiser Chiefs and Franz Ferdinand were so good beforehand, but was a poor way to end the weekend.
Great memories of bunking into RHCP at both Slane and Phoenix Park for free.. Those were the days!
Worst gig I was ever at was probably Stereophonics in The Point in the early 2000s. Was just incredibly dull.
Going to see Hawke The band in the Grand Social tonight.
Well worth seeing.
Worst gig I've ever seen from an established band was Radiohead in Marley. Dogsh1t.
The Modest Mouse one for me stands out a mile for worst gig ever. Nothing even close to it. I was so looking forward to it. I had seen them once before that - Vicar or Olympia or somewhere small anyway. But was only a casual fan at the time. But for the Helix, I had gotten really into them. Drove out to Helix, so no beer for me. Stood up near the stage in excitement waiting for them to come on. And then such shlte. Couldn't even make out which songs were which - the sound was so bad. I think the sound got slightly better, but was still crap overall. I don't know why they didn't fix it properly. Or if it couldn't be fixed, then apologise and give the people back a refund for wasting our time.
For anyone looking for James Blunt tickets, there are plenty of better priced and better located seats available on the Singular Artists website versus what's left on Ticketmaster.
Why would he use both Ticketmaster and Singular Artists?
Dua is sold out.
Should be good!
singular artists own their ticketing platform so they want people to use it but know that you can’t really do arenas shows here without having your show on TM for visibility and sales
I wonder would she put on another date, do you think? I stupidly said to my daughter that I'd get her tickets and didn't get logged on until 10.30 and they were gone.
Agree on Hard Fi, another band who I was really looking forward to see but just sounded awful, singer was definitely off his bin and they were crap.
I feel FF did the same thing before AM at EP13, pure energy and bangers for an hour.
I hope so. I logged on at before 10, was just over 2,000 in the queue and got no tickets. Same as yourself, was trying to get tickets for my daughter. Single tickets are no good. And that's all that was left at 10.06 Some pain in the arse.
