Following on from main thread in Current Affairs about Tubs in general (now closed and mod suggestion that Entertainment category is more suitable).
Indeed, entertainment in certain respects is what Tubs has provided, albeit perhaps in a way not intended. And still awaiting 150k payback to the licence fee holder.
And of course, his new career in Virgin Radio which is imminent.

Could he end up on that show? Just listening to the show now, he's very little to do. There is more music on the show that anything. And who's name Fee-Gee-Ta from Dublin, anyone know how to spell that name? First time listening to the quiz, he could fork out a bit more for the prizes.

Stands in for Tubridy for a few days and gets a job with BBC 2. Meanwhile, Tubridy is still on Virgin Radio. People with talent seem to get spotted quickly. Wasn't Tubridy on some BBC local radio channel as a temp about ten years ago?
Regards…jmcc
He was on Radio 2; I don't think he ever did local. The fill-in shifts just stopped for some reason…
his lack of tv presence in the uk will severely limit his career prospects.
Think that there could have been a short time on the Terry Wogan show. There may have also been a stand-in on a Chris Evans show.
Put simply, they no longer required his services.
Well she had a bit of a profile in the UK from before, eg she won one of the Bear Grylls celebrity type shows. And something on E4 with Joanne McNally.
But yeah, it shows she is able to get bigger and better opportunities.
I'm not sure whether that should be "desired" instead of "required", as there continued to be fill in presenters.
He stood in for Graham Norton on radio. And for Ken Bruce, according to this.
The BBC no longer wanted him as his presenting style and appeal did not match Ken Bruce or Graham Norton and he was also trousering a huge amount of money at RTE during that period.
Perhaps the BBC didn't want to lose listeners hence no more Tubridy on the Beeb?
The BBC would consider it to be of upmost importance to maintain figures of over 13 million listeners particularly for Radio 2, their presenters need to have the ability to fit into a package - present music programming flawlessly and of course to communicate clearly to those listeners.
The fill in shifts stopping might have had something to do with his hot take on the London Riots. Put his foot in his mouth there.
You can imagine the look of horror on the faces of the big cheeses at Radio2, when after much fanfare and bigging up by non other than Sir Terry and an enviable CV from Irish media, Ryan Tubridy waltzes in and proceeds to demonstrate about as much ease as a radio presenter as Bundee Aki would as a ballet dancer.
I think that comment is extremely disrespectful to ... Bundee Aki.
so he’s an motivational speaker now?
Yep - Plays (simply) 'The Best' through a ghetto blaster as he walks on stage - Never fails to get the crowd going
He then hands out copies of the RTÉ Guide. Has a competition for a VHS copy of the Boy That Never Was and a VCR head cleaner. And then has a chat with a woman from Dalkey call FeeGeeDa and says that is an unusual name where does it come from? And you met Matt Damon with his carrier bag? And you've brought a carrier bag from Super Valu for everyone in the audience, so they can put their RTÉ Guide in!
Who is called FeeGeeDa
Remember his air raid siren and chicken Kiev banter 😀😀😀
..
Tubridy probably yearns for his Telly Tubby days when he was famous. Just checked on the RAJAR site and the Q3 2024 RAJARs will be released to the stations on 23rd October.

When do the contract renewal discussions start?
Whenever the Paddy power sponsorship is up for renewal.
".....but obviously I have enormous commitments in Ireland".....
Well, not anymore Tubs, you're free to soar to new heights in the UK now.
thinking of doing some hate listening today. anyone else up for that?
The usual gang will be along for their fortnightly visit to admonish you.
I can't bring myself to even hate listen, his voice goes right through me. However I was in the barbers last week where it was on, and was in the unfortunate position of being stuck for 15 mins with no option to listen to anything else. Absolute drivel.
No, I genuinely wouldn't be bothered. I usually have Q102 on when I'm at home, and if I hear even a minute or two of him, accidentally, it's too much. I don't know if he was always that bad, because I didn't watch or listen, when he was with RTE. His diction is very poor, plus the singy songy delivery, not to mention what sounds like very forced jollity all the time. I switch back once he is finished for the day.
I am still processing the fact that there is a woman on the south-side of Dublin called FeGeeTe listening to him on Q102. My lack of surprise is that she's a civil servant!
Sorry, out.
I have listened to his show for about 20min combined since he started.
It's poor fare, we all know he's poor at itz and I don't think we will ever tune in to find he has become a polished, professional radio presenter.
Martin added: “I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if Ryan pops up on ITV or BBC TV because he has the chops and the experience to be able to do the lot."

I wonder who Martin's agent is?
