Got email from Sky https://www.sky.com/shop/pre-reg/mobile
Only problem is, it doesnt recognise Irish mobile phone numbers :-)
Wouldn't that add to the expense of launching the service.

Just got an error private DNS server cannot be reached
Very glitchy start for them
A bit early for that
Still waiting for mine - ordered on Friday so five days now. Getting annoying.
I'd have done an Esim but my phone (Xiaomi) doesn't support them at all.
Just got my SIM card in the post. Do I switch or not switch!? Ahhhhhhhh.
I'm going to activate it, test it and then either cancel within 14 days or switch.
When did you order?
Ordered my SIM Thursday afternoon (with new number). It arrived today. Activated it and got far superior speeds compared to GoMo. Test below is indoors in Limerick city with 4G as iPhone 11 doesn't support 5G. On GoMo I got about 20 Mbps on a good day often far less.
I then went to the MySky app and requested the port of my old number. It said it could take 1 to 2 days but it ported within about 2 mins.
Only issue I've had so far is that the Personal hotspot APN settings didn't come up with the updated Network settings. I put in mobile.sky (same as the internet APN) and it seems to working now.
Last Thursday.
Is it possible to use different billing details if you're using an existing online account already connected to a tv / broadband service?
I'd rather not have to create a new account when ordering online.
You can use the same sky account but mobile will still be billed separately.
Thankfully you can switch your DNS on iOS and Android quite easily.
It took a week for them to deliver it to me.
seems sims ordered on launch day are only being delivered today
Wonder how big the demand was, maybe they didn't have enough SIMs to go around?
I ordered my sim on Sunday evening and it arrived a few minutes ago, I have started the port from GoMo.
The port has happened already, I also received a cancelation email from GoMo.
Probably huge considering people are only receiving them now, when they ordered on launch day.
Did you confirm if you can receive SMS from other providers and services messages like Paypal, Revolut etc ?
Haven't switched or activated my SIM yet, still debating if I should… It's just sitting next to me ha.
Unfortunately I had to cancel 2 SIMs as I couldn't receive SMS from any number on one of them and service messages on the other. Support was a dead end just restarting my phone and deleteing messages in my messaging app.
Im lucky I didn't port over my main number as I would have had to receive an SMS to port it out and that wasn't possible.
does anyone know if you receive any sort of tracking the night before it comes? Normally you’d get a text from gomo for example to say they’ll deliver on the next working day
Nope, don't think so. Only thing I have heard is getting text messages to activate your SIM.
Not receiving 2FA SMS is such a big issue.
I hope they get this fixed very soon. I still have faith that they will.
It's such a shame, as otherwise it's a really great offering for €15 - unlimited everything everywhere in Europe and UK.
Once that's fixed, I'll port over.
I wonder if porting bypasses the SMS ssue? Maybe it only affects the 089 Sky numbers?
It's not something support mentioned to me, and I'm not willing to chance it either!
I have a strange issue where I'm unable to add a second line to my account. I proceed to checkout and the order goes through, but I then receive an email almost instantly to say my order has been cancelled. Same thing happened when support tried to add a line over the phone. Anyone else experiencing this?
I have no issues with 2FA codes or messages, although I did port my number. So maybe? Either way when I rang in about my bill yesterday I was told it should be fixed very soon for those having issues with 2FA codes/messages and they was trying to have it done by next week at the latest. I didn't ask for anymore details as I had no issue.
Maybe try get support to escalate it for you? In my local sky shop I was told they're cancelling very few second line orders due to huge demand, so maybe give it a couple more tries? It might be something back end aswell like your ppayment details being flagged for some reason
I am up and running, I had to enter the APN settings manually on my Pixel 7.
Sky have on their device support page to enter: MCC: 234 & MNC: 57 but they don't save for whatever reason but MCC:272 & MNC 25 work.
There is no 5G on my Pixel 7, I will wait for Android 15 to see if that sorts it.
I have a work phone that is Vodafone so I will do speed test comparrisons later on.
234-57 is the UK network, so 272-25 would be correct. Lazy copy/paste from Sky I'd say.
