I guess the show needs it's own thread. The plan is that Oliver Callen, Brendan Courtney and couple of other tba hosts will do it will into the winter. It very much looks like the vacancy is left open for Tubs to return.
Has anyone noticed that Callan now goes straight into interviews his usual 20 minute ‘riff’ has disappeared?
This has been the case for the last few weeks ……..a cynic might form the opinion that he overstepped the mark there for a supposedly balanced PSB ?

I really enjoy Callan's interview style.
Has always been the way with his hour long interviews. They had a fair old swipe (justified) at Helen McEntee in particular, this morning and politicians who were quick to label Doyle's community as 'scum'
Did Doyle suggest that his novels were more Flann O’Brien or Albert Camus than Dan Brown or James Patterson?
"I hate Doyle’s writing and his romanticism towards the average jackeen"

The predictable energy on hating without even hearing it, aside, it was a fascinating and honest interview about the birth and public reception of Doyle's many novels, films, plays and television, could easily have listened for another hour. I think his 'ego' is very well balanced, able to criticise and laugh at himself as well as accepting what he has achieved.
An hour long interview is an hour long interview, my friend .
Up to recently it was 0900-0908 News..0908-0920ish a riff of what is going on..0920ish till finish interview.
Even you can’t twist those facts to suit your narrative.
Why the change of tack for the show…. That’s the issue here.

The astute listeners amongst us might have noticed another little reference to the 'balance ' in the show
where Callan threw in, and I paraphrase, ' Now I've insulted them all equally'.
For me that's a clear indication to me that he has been 'pulled up' or at least been told to tone down his bias.
Others of course will try to tell us that black is white, but it would appear that there has been reaction on 51551.
Or as he did the first day, he's taking the proverbial out of the inveterate moaners.

Brendan, having a go at Kamala while also having a go at Trump is not a 'bias'. The moaners are in fact the 'biased' ones, conferring immunity as they do on certain American politicians (Saint JFK, Joe Biden, Obama etc)and refusing to allow her to be sent up. He mocked these texters the first day and did it again today. Business as usual.

Same story this morning, started almost immediately with an interview with some dude plugging a book.
What I am asking is why has the format changed?
Must have gotten a kick up the transom for his 'riffs' which usually went on till 0920,as that's the only thing which has changed.
Note also his stating that he is being 'balanced' if that wasn't an issue, why keep referring to it.

He was always more than an impressionist more a satirist who does impressions.
As said, these things are entirely subjective. He’s clearly very popular with audiences for his shows and is growing his listenership on this slot. Given your sense of humour I understand why you would not like him. Plenty of Benny Hill and Manning wannabe’s out there. Horses for courses etc.

It seems that he is getting the drift that presenting on a taxpayer funded PSB is a bit different than freewheeling on an independent production.
