I believe they're supposed to be 200kW per site (150+50) but Ecars will always blame the car if you aren't getting full power

Personally I think a pair for 100kW units with 4 usable spaces would have been ideal
So 100kW if one car plugs in and 50kW each if someone plugs into the same charger

Yeah some green would help. It’s a very local area in the sense that I can’t imagine locals will need to charge there (as they’ll have a charger at home). In summer and weekends it would get a lot of passing traffic going to Howth for a day out so it will be interesting to see how often it’s full. Raheny seems to be busy anyway.
I was thinking something similar, never been a shortage of driveway space around there

It might see more use when the apartments in Howth are finished, and there's talk of the Marine Hotel in Sutton being sold. My bet is it'll also be turned into apartments
So there should be plenty of customers in the area soon enough

The charger was only 22kw I think and was very slow I was an hour charging it just for the 38km. I queried the hold payment but they said no to that
No it was literally just 38km I got out of it on the button. If it filled my battery I'd be delighted.
I was probably an hour I couldn't leave until I had enough it was incredible slow a 22kw charger. I would say it's a very outdated charger and should be replaced
Does your car have a 22kw AC charger? Most don't. Maybe you mean a DC charger would be more useful to more people. Can't argue with that.
That's a 50kW DC charger with an AC plug as well
Were you plugged into the AC port, or were there two cars charging at once? Either of those will limit you to 22kW
What car have you got? 38km range sounds like around 7-11kWh which would be what you'd expect from charging on AC for an hour for most EVs
For those chargers, the overstay kicks in after 45 mins and is charged at €0.50 per minute. 15 mins overstay will add €7.50 by itself
Feck it that could be it. I have heard a few people mention that about the charge since if you overstay I never thought of it at the time just wanted to charge enough to get home
Vat should also be considered in the price of a unit bought at a public charger as those units have 23% vat applied, with home charging its 9% vat.
Most cant claim vat back of course but business users can. €10 spent for units on home charging including vat means the supplier gets €9.17, €10 spent on Public/commercial charging inc vat (they usually always include vat in advertised prices) means the supplier gets €8.13.
even if a commercial supplier decided to charge the same pre vat unit price that I pay the vat inclusive unit price they would have to charge me would be 14% higher than my vat inclusive home bill
That’s Ireland, don’t know about the uk or elsewhere.
VAT on public charging is also levied at 9%, you can confirm this by looking at an invoice in your eCars account. This is in Ireland. In the UK they do not have a discounted VAT rate for public charging.
sorry about the misinformation, Liamog is correct. my bookkeeper told me this and has been happily reclaiming vat at 23% on the very few Public charging sessions I have used over the last 4 years!
I have not used ecars for 20 months now. looks like I owe revenue about €30!
The switch to the reduced vat rate occurred on the 1st of July 2020. eCars had sought clarification from revenue. Here's a press release from the time. It's possible your accountant just wasn't aware of the change, though I'd expect them to have spotted it on the invoices 🤣

Planning to return to Bantry for a few days during coming months. Was there a few years ago, in my diesel, and did a lot of driving. Such a beautiful area and so much to see, and the Wild Atlantic Way. Charging looks sparce in this area for my EV though. Putting it 'on the long finger' for now. Anyone any thoughts? Thanks
There are ESB charging stations in Bantry, Glengariff, Skibbereen, Castletownbere, Dunmanway and Kenmare - and that's just the ones close to or in Bantry.
There are other non-ESB charging stations in the vicinity too.
Was down in Bantry this summer. There was a German ID4 and a German EV6 staying at the campsite. Saw a few other Continental EVs on the roads too. It's very doable.
89 public charging sites on this map. Ideally book accomodation with a charger so you can start off each day full. Depending on range of car that might be enough. If you need to charge when our and about plan carefully and charge early and often. At peak holiday periods it's likely the chargers will be busy.

From Plugshare, 2x7kw at Supervalue, (grand if staying nearby) and one high power at the Marina, (knowing my luck, difficult to get onto it). That was the reason for the post. Used to other areas where there are several high power within reasonable distance. Think I might stay in The Westland Lodge. As suggested by previous post, charging at the hotel, ready to go each morning. Thanks again for all the help.
