feel like if there's one pub in maynooth that doens't need any expansion it's mcmahons. lovely pub imo but not very busy.
It'd be great if a new pub opened in the town offering something a bit different. The ones we have are all a bit samey and fairly average imo. A pizza and craft beer type of place would go down well I'd imagine, or just a pub that isn't as focused on food.
The only potential 'new' pub is the licenced restaurant element of the student accom in what was the LA; but Louis Fitzgerald will run that so it'll be like all his other stuff - huge fancy refit every decade then let get run down, burgers and Diageo/Heineken pints.
personally very glad we dont have any of those places here😅.
the main thing maynooth is missing imo is a late bar thurs-sat consistantly. roost just shuts at random times
Newtown inn is decent. Doesn't do food but the chinese will plate up a few different options for you and you can eat in the pub. They also have menus out on the tables. You can also bring in a pizza from naked pizza too which are tasty.
you can order & pay for the pizza straight from the bar
Why exactly?
The current pubs are fairly bang average at best, I don't see how anyone could think otherwise.
Beer,pizza and a late Fri,Sat sesh is all I want.And a taxi
just not a fan of the hipster craft beer places.
You make it sound like you'd be forced to go..
Some people cannot control themselves
Anyone know if it's possible to open the pedestrian gate into Carton House on the Dunboyne Road at the end of Carton Avenue early in the morning (7.30am)? There's a little keypad thing there but not sure if that just for staff use or what.
I cycle towards Leixlip in the mornings from Moyglare area so going through Carton House cuts out a lot of the dodgy parts of the old road
I'll PM you the code.

Just came across this. Is anyone the wiser to what they are actually building on the Dublin Road?
The works compound is for the Greenway, this is for a field beside it that has nothing in it.
Ah I see. That's a relief.
Would you mind PM it to me too please?
Could i get a pm with this code please
Any ideas when The Smoking Goat is due to open?
Is there any farm in Maynooth that sells fresh veg?
Don't think either of these are really the answer your looking for, but...
...there's veg at the Saturday market now
...Derrybeg farm, between Maynooth and Celbridge, has a membership scheme. €540 for the year and you get a weekly veg box for 9 months. Not used it myself, so can't really vouch for it, but a neighbour does and loves it

The organic farm on the moyglare road
They've started selling some of their stuff at Typo coffee shop at the GAA club - they had fresh milk, eggs, tomatoes and rather randomly Padron peppers from the farm there last weekend
Donadea organics
can't remember what it has just replaced? something like "pickle"? but the john hume at the university has that grillodh sandwich place now. never actually tried it but it's meant to be decent.
always wondered what the story is there, does the university only give out the lease for a year or two or something? seems to be always changing outlet. subway was incredibly busy when it was there, was surprised to see it turned into something else
Due to start fit out in October
Have heard L'Art Du Chocolat is closing down on Sunday or Monday :'(
Very disappointing. One of the nicer coffee shops in Maynooth and looked after the shop front very well. Great staff too.
I heard it was just reopening under another name DMD I think due to one of the original owners wanting out?
Yep, they've a message up on Maynooth Noticeboards on Facebook, that they'll be reopening doing breakfasts, lunches and also for cake orders
