I wonder how this will work out for him

We should praise a persons perception of reality who believes in Biblical infallibility?
You sure Bro? 😆
Either way he wasn't fired for his beliefs, he was fired for being an aggressive bullying scum bag.
Ah, the old "reality" argument again. Suggest you read up on The Blind Men and the Elephant parable because the idea that everyone perceives "reality" in the exact same way you do is somewhat dated.
Similarly, perhaps it was the student who didn't "cave in to the current zeitgeist" by determining who they were according to their beliefs and experiences as opposed to bowing down to an incresaingly outdated traditional expectation.
I don't know what right a church thinks it has to support any belief about children, or to attempt to force that belief upon that child. One of many reasons where religion should be far removed from education.
When I was at Junior Cert level my english teacher was also the PE teacher, and he was a sound guy. As well as teaching PE, he also coached the girls hockey team and was one of the teachers who always went on both the ski trip and the europe cultural trip every year.
Around 3rd year I realised the problem with him. He had as much interest in teaching English as I had in learning Religious studies through Latin. He missed at least one class a week because he was bringing the girls to a match, except the weeks when he was in Prague or sliding down an Italian slope.
Nice guy, yes. Good educator, no.
for all that he claims to be a dedicated teacher who just wants to get back to the classroom he was just being rude and unnecessarily cruel to a teenager. If a kid is stressed and struggling why would you go out of your way to make life harder for them? That’s not the mark of a good teacher in my view.
As well as being a prat to his colleagues and bosses.
And ignoring the court.
if I started hanging around outside the local school eventually someone would ask what I was doing there and if I trespassed I’d be removed.
The definition of stupidity is doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting a different result.
alternate view… he lives living in prison
Thing is, it wouldn’t matter how good a teacher Enoch is or isn’t, he made himself a liability as an employee of WHS, and had to go.
Now he’s just hanging around the school like a bad smell 😒
Some, me included, may remember having sound teachers who were poor educators, and good educators who were less than good people outside the classroom. The two are not always mutually exclusive.
There's a difference between a good teacher, and a good teacher ...
All this talk about Nuns and changing names is all well and good, but the main point is why does someone have to be a dick about it?
“Straight down the Courthouse in the morning”, as Bradley Walsh would say 😂
All this talk about Nuns and changing names is all well and good, but the main point is why does someone have to be a dick about it? If someone tells you their name, you use that name.
There's a subreddit called Tragedeigh. It's where people give their children absolutely horrific names.
https://www.reddit.com/r/tragedeigh/
I can imagine myself internally groaning if I met someone with those names. However I'd still be nice to them and treat them with respect. No matter what I feel, I would treat a person as I would any other. And if they'd changed their name to a tragedeigh, I'd do the same.
When someone tells you their name is X, you say Hello X.
I did. :D
Imagine my name was Michael. Passports used to have the option to have on the front page "Known as" and on the second page "Birth Name". So the front of my passport said Mike Smith and the second page said Michael. But since then I've had it renewed twice and they've dropped the birthname bit.
Here in Germany I had to give my birth name to work. When I went on a business trip they booked the tickets in that name. The guy at the desk when i was checking in was not happy with me. However security were fine.
He is a good teacher in the same way 95% of the time Harold Shipman was an excellent GP.
That and the tragedy of an allegedly good teacher stuck in mountjoy prison
Is a good teacher still a good teacher when they verbally attack the headmaster at a public event?
Are you certain though? Have you checked her genitalia?
Just pretending not to have sex.
Wondering what's next in this long running 'soap opera'?. Does he get released for Mid-Term, and Christmas?. Is it an ongoing cycle of his turning up and then getting arrested again?. I can imagine the brains of the Legal System in smoky rooms saying 'well lads, how the fek do we get this one sorted?".
Exactly. Comparing the way religious orders operate in the instance of nuns dropping the name which they were baptized with as part of their religion belief and taking another name by which they MUST be addressed within the same religion with the decision of another person to drop their name - as used by others - and request others to address them by a different noun as a means of identifying themselves on either gender or sexuality fronts is an affront.
How dare people decide that they can instruct the person concerned on what to do or not to do at such a personal level.
Nuns take a name when the enter the order, same as Catholics take a name when being baptized/confirmed, does it signify that they are identifying as any thing other than a female nun? Of course not, what a stupid tangent this thread has taken. That’s the caveat for you.
Ah, so there are caveats. Respect a nun because she hasn't dared to change her sex. Forget any historical actions and respect the whole community because at least they have not dared to challenge our preconceptions of sex and gender. This is an enlightening debate.
Parents.
That was my point. In fact I think that's a direct quote.
Or have I misunderstood what you've initially posted….?
No, as the nun isn't pretending to have changed her sex.
Who's pulling the strings here is it burke or the parents ?
I see here you changed your name from Micheal to Michelle, can you explain?
Yes I was born Micheal and I transitioned to Michelle.
Hardly an insurmountable question to answer like.
Yes but it comes up on background checks done by commercial agencies and then you'll have to explain it. I've had it twice on employee checks now. One was understandable, the other was just bizarre - the person had changed their name twice and the explanation was they believed bad luck was following then and their witchdoctor told them changing their name would fool it. We passed on that guy.
In Ireland you just use the new name. Thats the process.
If you want a deed poll change of name you can do so but it’s entirely unnecessary. If you use your new name for 3/5 years (I can’t remember) then just submit the evidence when you next apply for a passport and you’re sorted
That'd be no problem in the US, there are specific "Christian Dating" sites
But you know the oul' phrase about "If you want to know what your girlfriend will look like in 30 years, look at her mother" and that hatchet-faced harridan / whip-tongued wagon is more than a bit of a turn-off I'm afraid.
Oh right. And you thought that "being the same person" I specifically meant not changing your name and booking a last-minute minute flight?
No one is under any obligation to be the same person they were five years or even five minutes ago.
… I don't believe I ever said anything about a time limit (let alone five minutes) or getting on a plane…?
Very strangely specific situation though…
