You don't speak for all trans or non binary people either, so stop making out that all that's expected of people is to use preferred pronouns, some are content with that but many others aren't.

You're asking for permission to be a dick though. If somebody says their name is John or Jane - just use their name. I work with people who's name in their email is different to what they have introduced themselves as. I call them by what they asked, not their "government name". Why is that so hard for people to accept?
Schools in most developed countries seem to get on fine without religious "Patrons". We"re the outlier.
In fairness, most trans or non binary people want respect I imagine. So using their preferred pronouns or name goes with that. I have people who ask if I'd prefer to be called the shortened version of my first name cause it's just simply viewed as respectful to do so. If your preference is to be disrespectful then that says more about you than anything.

I would use that name. I only know one person who does use a new name and I do use it. But as I said, it's disingenuous for people to make out that that's all that they're being asked to do and that there shouldn't be any concerns.

Now if he'd stuck to the two subjects he and the school had agreed on for him to teach to the pupils there, instead of a mix of civics and religious belief not on the curriculum for him to pass on to the pupils, he'd still be in happy employment there during school term instead of finding himself a guest of the nation and the nation [us included here] would not be wondering where to next for him.

There are many like me who will use the preferred pronouns but they do understand the concerns and why some might be very reluctant to go along with it. There is problems with sport and changing rooms etc to be resolved but that's a separate matter to the persons gender identity which should be respected

It would seem to be that someone trans-gendering somehow lowers the identity of gender to those who are of that gender from birth.
What is interesting and certainly an aspect of debate is that it is mostly confined to male-female. I get it tbh, males generally won't care about a biological female joining their ranks, but 'the weaker sex' would naturally have reservations. We've already seen it in sport how lop-sided it can be.
In my experience, the vast, vast majority of anti-trans (and as you say, that's almost exclusively directed at trans women) sentiment is being fomented by men. TERFs are absolutely a thing but there is a very, very angry and vocal cohort of men out there who feel threatened on some weird existential level by the existence of trans women.

A lot of them are clearly troubled by the fact that they find trans people attractive. They are also the types who feel they would have probably transitioned if they were given that support as it is given today and that is another thing that leads to their mindset about trying to stop these kinds of supports being given.
