Well never thought id see the day..i know its that rag reporting it but their generally right on these kinda things. I guess thats our multiple nights in Croke Park band sorted for next Summer then✌
Exactly this.
Its completely dishonest to sell the same tickets at different prices.
Its quite bizarre to see posters defending this practice.
Actually it is indeed Oasis and the promoter who are just as complicit in this as ticketmaster. They have to sign off of surge pricing which in essence means they are gouging their fan base as much as possible.
Politicians in talking nonsense shocker! Not sure I saw anyone claim they should be investigated for financial crimes?
Most of the people paying €400 for a ticket are in their 30s / 40s already with a ton of debt and are just loading up the credit cards even more.
You do this for any airline ticket you've ever bought, and it happens in lots of other situations too. You may consider it dishonest, I won't disagree with you or "defend" it. It's not illegal though.
No. Its quite easy to mitigate airline ticket pricing. This is a very different scenario.
What was "in demand standing"
It seems the Irish pricing was more higher than UK ultimately
…...
Even if they got rid of platinum tickets, they'd just sell all tickets at a higher price or offer more vip tickets with nonsense extras. They have the market by the balls regardless.
Still waiting for you to show me where the set prices were published and weren't priced "from" certain prices, after claiming I was "waffling" Here's the link to MCD if that helps: https://mcd.ie/artists/oasis Quite clearly says: Tickets priced from €86.50 (subject to service charge) are limited to 4 per transaction
I'm open to correction however.
didn’t get a sniff of a ticket. Knew it would be hard but oh my goodness it’s mental how hard it is to get tickets to see anyone remotely popular these days. So disappointed
I actually have no problem with them hiking the price of all tickets as long as it is transparent. It's much fairer than surge pricing. Having someone else play more than double the price for the same ticket just due to luck of the draw of queue placement (which is random) is unfair.
It also means artists will have to own the actual price they are charging and not the bullshit "tickets priced from....".
Even to excuse surge (in demand) prices and dynamic pricing, looking at this further, if you as an event promoter and a band decide to specify you’ll run with dynamic pricing but then go out of your way to manipulate the market to encourage a surge, like announcing a few starter gigs with no wider tour dates, tell fans there won’t be any televised gigs, and keep quiet about any potential additional dates, are you not pretty guilty of market manipulation and extortion at that stage? Pretty much do the shorts if things monopolies are known for.
I go to croke park regularly for gaa games and tickets are priced equally for every seat regardless of location which is admirable but makes no sense really, a seat in the gods of the upper davin is not worth the same price as a ticket near the halfway line of the lower Hogan.
I got 2 platinum tickets this morning in 334 of Hogan lower, mad price but excellent location, if they'd been in the back of the upper tier there's no way I would've got them.
Why does everyone keep saying the queue place is random? I can't find that mentioned anywhere on the TM site.
https://blog.ticketmaster.ie/music/how-to-get-tickets-for-oasis-in-2025-14256
It's the exact same......15 euro to Manchester any weekday but 200 on match days.....
Imagine if public transport operated like that? Luas to the 3 arena for 30 quid on day of a concert.
Airlines / hotels etc.
All nice saying all tickets should cost the same, but how could you legislate and say that tickets for only music events have to be at a fixed cost but for other things like Airlines they have different rules? (Legally, I dont see how you could).
I like many others had the option to pay €415 for a standing ticket, but, not a chance I'd pay that, if others were the same then they wouldn't be €415
I am trying not to buy into the conspiracy stuff but when I got into the "queue" at 15,000, I was thinking that there was a reasonable chance that I'd get tickets. Something seems amiss about the whole thing.
I have been an Oasis fan since 95.....like others have said, they are a big part of my love of music. How many of us picked up a guitar because of them? Have bought solos albums for each of Liam and Noel so I was actually on mailing lists for both, in addition to the actual Oasis list.
But I'm kind of glad I didn't get through. I would've been gutted having to turn down 2 tickets at €400 a pop.
I searched TM last night svd saw prices for standing. Not going near the site bite and didn’t screenshot but it was there.
Jesus.
Pretty ironic to claim someone is waffling, then proceed to make an obviuosly false claim and refuse to back it up.
I have been critical of Bruce Springsteen ticket prices for a supposed "blue collar" hero, but at least they were consistent.
Oasis squeezing their fans. This from a band who says they don't want people who went to college to listen to their music...
The queue place is random.
You join the waiting room when its open (it doesn't matter when) and when the tickets go on sale, you're placed in a random position in the queue
The person who is #100 in the queue and the person who is #50000 could have joined the waiting room at the same time.
With airlines / hotels you have options. I dont consider it a like for like comparison at all. You know there will be different prices based on when you book and for what dates you book. Entering a lottery for a concert with 1 seller available only to then find out you've been charged 3x what someone else has been charged for the same ticket is gross. Its not the same in my opinion.
Platinum tickets are 500 euro, they don't seem to be premium level seats which is what I initially assumed platinum meant, does anyone know what is meant by platinum exactly, does it include something extra or what?
Airlines do this all the time.
Ok, why doesn't it say that anywhere? I've found this page which says first-come, first-served.
"During high-demand sales, tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis and aren’t guaranteed. We recommend joining the waiting room 15 minutes prior to the event going on sale."
https://help.ticketmaster.com/hc/en-ie/articles/13253771987473-What-is-the-queue-and-how-do-I-join
Platinum tickets do not include VIP packages.
" When ticket sales start, the temporary queue is refreshed and everyone who is in queue is assigned a random place. Then the final queue starts for buying tickets.
In other words, it does not make sense to wait for our site already hours in advance. You are welcome, but it does not guarantee you a spot in the front row."
