Following on from main thread in Current Affairs about Tubs in general (now closed and mod suggestion that Entertainment category is more suitable).
Indeed, entertainment in certain respects is what Tubs has provided, albeit perhaps in a way not intended. And still awaiting 150k payback to the licence fee holder.
And of course, his new career in Virgin Radio which is imminent.

A drop of 0.1% while 11% of virgin listens TSA is well within the margin of error for such a study. Nothing can be reliably concluded from just one set of numbers when such small percentages are involved. Many more sets of results are needed to identify a trend.
As long as his slot is sponsored by Paddy Power I can't anything changing, unless he gives up voluntarily.
The public mood seems increasingly to be moving against the gambling industry for targeting vulnerable users via internet, so tubs risks being further exposed for his historical preferential treatment of the industry when he was an rte host.
Hope this answers some of your questions or at least provides some clarity as to how Tubridy fits into the figures.
Regardless of what one's opinion of Digital Spy may be, other folks are noticing a trend as to where the slot is being broadcast from come end of week.
Within five minutes I was on stage with Noel as he captivated a vast audience with his inspiring tales of kindness and hope. There were tears! After that, it was back to London and pretty much straight to bed. A new experience for this 51-year-old and all part of my adventures in London. Who knows where the autumn will take me…
Watching the Republican and Democratic conventions recently left me bedazzled by the sheer show business of it all (Hulk Hogan for one crowd, Stevie Wonder for the other). But I was also reminded of the nearly lost craft of oratory.
My first festival at 51. But it was straight to bed when I got home It’s been a while since I heard a quality speech being delivered by a politician anywhere in the world, let alone Ireland where the standard of public speechmaking by politicians is hardly golden!
America-wise, in my lifetime, former Presidents Obama and Clinton stand out as gifted speakers who held vast crowds in the palms of their hands. At the recent DNC, my faith in political speechmaking and delivery was strengthened with tour-de-force turns from Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Hillary Clinton and both Obamas who set the auditorium alight with soaring rhetoric that only comes along once in a generation.
Add to that the star power of the guests on stage and the Hollywood-level quality of stage production and here was proof that politics doesn’t have to be dull and exclusive to those who would love to be involved but feel it’s for other (not much craic) people.

Before I got to see who were the brilliant orators, I guessed that they'd all be Democrats. Who cares about policies, when you can have soaring oratory and emotive speeches? Apparently this is what we need in Ireland, plus more celebrities and Hollywood star power. He has managed to become even more detached from reality since moving away.
second childhood. But at least he’s not missing his bedtimes
genuinely thought that was a pisstake until I saw the link…
This was interesting:
"A new experience for this 51-year-old and all part of my adventures in London. Who knows where the autumn will take me…"
Perhaps plans are afoot to dump him from Virgin Radio on to Q102/etc. Given the way that FF is recruiting celebrities to run for the Dail, would they even bother with Tubridy?

Arent fianna Fail targeting former TV personalities to stand for them in the next election after the Cynthia nihoullahainwin?
Does Bryan realize that slating who the public elects is derision towards the public?
If my diction was as bad as Tubridy's - considering that this is a man who has worked on radio and tv for a long number of years - I don't think I'd criticise others for their speech-making skills, or lack of same. I don't think we have any great orators in government or opposition at present, but people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones, in my opinion.
he’s really trying to push his own narrative that he’s some sort of intellectual, when in reality he himself has the oratory skills of a walrus that’s high on meth,
Just to update you on Tubs podcast on You Tube
C. Ahern gained between 0 and 99 views
Horowitz gained 55 views
Welsh gained 179 views
Walliams, Williams, Howard, Keyes, Cox and Garrihy got between 100 - 199 views over the course of the last month
Boyne gained between 200 and 299 views
Noel Fitz gained between 300 and 399 views
But the star of the podcast is Andrea Corr who gained between 900 and 999 views over the course of august, and she is nearing ever closer to Walliams on 5200, with a total of 4900 views to date.
It will be interesting to see how these go with the launch of the second part of this series.
the literary world eagerly awaits with bated breadth..
Same, just like last week
What an odd thing.
It is bonkers. So bizzare. It just an odd collection of humble brags and projection. With no solid throughline.
For contrast look at someone like Moncreif. A solid column every week, which are usually thought provoking and relevant. Tubs is more akin to "I did this, I did that, then everyone told me I was the nerdist, bestest boy. And ya know what they were right"
Just to check. Who is the Noel he is referring to?
Kelly? Gallagher? someone else? ……
As does Conor, his producer at VRUK 🤫
As the person who brought up Magan in this thread, I have to ask why it is you are making the false assertion that my problem with Tubridy is that he's some elitist snob and Magan is the perfect antidote to this because he is just 'a man of the people'. I never implied anything of the sort…
It's obvious that Magan and Tubs are from the same gene pool. The point I was making is that Magan is the real deal. He is the €50 note with the watermark while Tubs is the monopoly money. I've no problem if Magan has never swallowed a belly of pints, dominated a doner kebab at 3am or never graced a GAA pitch of any description. He is who he is and he's very comfortable in his own skin. This rubs off on all manner of people he meets on his travels. He is worldly, well read, curious, engaged and not obsequious or insincere. The polar opposite of the main man himself.
I vaguely remember Tub's Full Irish radio show back in the day. I even kind of liked him back then. Probably because this was in the days before Noel told him to assume the persona of the pseudo intellectual, old fogey. He was more himself back then. A vapid, celebrity and fame obsessed disk jockey who's level was talking inoffensive shíte and spinning disks while telling people the time 6 times an hour. Sadly for us all, Tub's believed himself better than that.
He wasn't.
As I have said before in fairness to Tubs he gained an audience for 2FM's breakfast show after the show had declined following the departure of Dempsey, that decline was only really stopped by him and Breakfast Republic, nothing else seemed to stick.
Even Tubs Tonight wasn't a bad saturday night show and was slightly different to Kenny Live.
No idea what happened him after those shows, he always seemed bored on TLLS as soon as he started presenting it.
Agree completely. I don't have any bad memories of Tubridy Tonight. It seemed to be a suitable light entertainment only affair which contrasted well with Pat Kenny's Late Late Show. I seem to remember Tubs as a decent host of that show and have no recollection of watching it thru my fingers from behind the sofa, which was the norm once he started playing Senior Hurling at 9.30 on Friday nights. It was like a switch flipped and he went from a capable if limited presenter to this awful mawkish, insincere Alan Partridge tribute act.
That state-of-the-art home recording studio was really worth it…
Ah I’m sure he’ll be soon crawling back to Eire like a greasy weasel….
Strong rumours this week that Ryan will be back in Dublin post Christmas, with a major national radio station. Great news if true, will be a serious blow to RTE.
Newstalk?
great news, as long as it’s a commercial station, let them employ and pay him what ever they want.
No links. No sources. Forgive us if we find your claim somewhat difficult to believe.
There was one show with Brendan O'Connor bawling about how his property "investments" went pear-shaped. He got a TV show with RTE afterwards and was better than Tubridy. He's a bit of a gobshite but there is a sincerity about him and he displayed a genuine interest in his guests. Since it was getting more viewers than Tubridy's LLS, RTE cancelled it. Apart from that, Tubridy is strictly light entertainment compared to Pat Kenny. Kenny really is much smarter than Tubridy and was able to hold an audience when he moved to Newstalk after RTE refused to renew his contract.
The figures on Kenny's old slot on RTE radio didn't change significantly. That may indicate two things. The first is that the time slot is the real star. The second is that many "listeners" are passive listeners who don't actively select the programme to which they listen. Callan has done well on RTE in Tubridy's old slot and has, I think, increased the number of listeners.
No national Irish radio station or TV station wanted Tubridy after RTE dumped him. That toxicity of his brand due to the 150K ensured that he has been off national radio in Ireland for over a year. Commercial radio is quite different from the bailed out monstrosity of Montrose. If a presenter isn't bringing in listeners and advertising, they generally get replaced. There are probably people in RTE wondering why RTE hadn't dumped Tubridy sooner. Kielty seems to have brought the LLS back to life.
Spirit Radio?
Is that the god bothering channel?
Any links ?
Or did you magic up these “strong rumours”?
usual Duck egg Kelly BS generator?
