There's a certain cohort of men who like to play/dress up as soldiers. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a cross over between the men in photo above and military reenactment groups.
There is ww2 era group active where I'm from. I never paid much heed to them; I often met them in local woods when I was on mountain bike, given I was in my 40s wearing thighs I didn't think I was in a position to judge. 😄
I noticed one member who lived locally had a mercedes army truck. It's often parked in a public car park and one night on way home from pub I pulled back canvas and hopped in. There on storage box was the swastika.
Same lad turned up a committee meeting for War of Independence celebration in full modern military fatigues.
I'm sure some of these lads are very well balanced but there's a cohort who would fit right in the the above photo.
As an aside Hitler for all his faults and madness, he could give a speech and energised a crowd. It was his one gift. Other than making a fool of himself what can Barrett do.?
It's not hilarious. Here in the UK, there were various clowns like Nick Griffin running around and that led to Nigel Farage and Brexit. Barrett may be a pathetic joke of a man but there may be a more capable entity in the wings and that won't be funny for whoever will be their victim.
When I was a kid, The Blues Brothers was one of my favourite films. Watched it hundreds of times. Even as a kid, I was amazed that you could have people walking around dressed as Nazis in the US.
