Supposed to be helping a neighbour relocate a 6 t feed bin from his home yard to outside yard.
Any tips or tricks from anyone who has moved a meal bin from one position to another
Telescopic loader or big tracked digger and a big tipping trailer and strap to the tipping trailer.
Haven't moved one but I've a mind to move one in yard.
I moved an 8 tonne bin in the yard. Just put the headstock of loader as high up on the legs as a could. Put 2 or 3 ratchet straps around it then. Not much weight in them when you have them secured. Be no use on the road though.
That's a great idea.... often toyed about moving mine.
actually thinking about it again i think i used the 7ft bucket crowned down slightly. you had 2 flat edges going the width of the bin iykwim
Probably not the recommended method, but it didn't go too far.
Done the same here,but I'm not good with heights so I done it in the dark.You can't see how high up that you are.
I discovered this one by accident. You know the way work pants have a long pocket usually on the right leg? Well I usually keep a junior vice grip there. Also some people can never find a 10 or 13 mm socket or spanner when they need it. I got a rare earth magnet (they’re very strong for their size) and attached it to the vice grip and now the 10 mm spanner sticks to it like sh1t to a blanket.
It would work for a 13 mm spanner as well, but at the moment 10mm suits me.

Have a 12mm open ended one end here with a 13 open ended the other. Battery clamps on different tractors here are either 12 or `13. Handy spanner switching them when I leave control boxes of dribble bar or grazer switched on.
I have spanners I got from travellers years ago they can stretch up a size or two if you belt them on with the hammer. Elastic spanner

Anyone know a safe method of using a rotobore to cut out holes for gates in RSJ that has wire wrapped around it?
Just done one this after noon with a step drill and it struggled and seemed to have blunted it self. I was using cutting fluid.
Welder n turn it up a bit , can weld a washer on after if into neatness!
Don't think our welder would burn through an rsj.
Unfortunately, I'm very much into neatness, but lacking in ability to produce neat work.
Why not just start with a small bits say 5mm and then increase the size each time you get through? But don't force any of the smaller bits as they will probably snap.
It's alright until you step up to the wider bits and then the chance for the bit catching and wrecking your wrist increases.
I did start with a 5mm bit before switching to the step drill. Went through smoothy until I reached the 20mm step. I'm not sure what happened but that step seems to have got blunted and I can't get it to bite in order to get through to the next step.
Get a good quality holesaw.
A 20 mm hole saw will do the job.
Starrett holesaws are top class.
I used the below for holes in rsj. No problem with some cutting paste.

Probably too late if the poster has already got a decent size hole made. You need the central drill part of those hole saws to drill their own hole otherwise they wont work unless the hole can be plugged with a hard wood plug to provide a new start for the holesaw.
Get another step drill bit, or two.
I've got a few drill bits that are 22mm and 24mm.
Not fussed on them as there is too much material to be cutting through with them.
Might look into those hole saws as they would be an easier job.

If you drill a 10mm hole, welder will blow out the rest
The stepped drill bits are really only for sheet metal.
Flat 100mm plate and g clamp to pillar. Then attach mag drill to it. Probably need at least 3 g clamps
