Well never thought id see the day..i know its that rag reporting it but their generally right on these kinda things. I guess thats our multiple nights in Croke Park band sorted for next Summer then✌
I thought they were brilliant at Slane in 95, put a challenge on REM to do a good show!
I loved some of the Beady Eye songs on that first album, Kill For a Dream, For Anyone, the Beat Goes On. All those songs by themselves I'd rate as better than any of Liam or Noels stuff, bar the odd song here or there.
Thought it sounded quite fresh as it was basically Gem writing the songs too. But it got panned, and I never understood why!
A narrative has seemed to have gained traction, that this isn't really Oasis, just Liam and Noel, with a backing band, that being the High Flying Birds. It just goes to show how many aren't actually fans, yet will be on the bandwagon and wanting tickets.
It's literally a continuation of Oasis' last line up, minus Zak Starky, who may return. Gem was in Beady Eye even. And Bonehead will probably be there so that's another original member. So they're literally all actual Oasis members.
But people are acting like this is a Guns and Roses con job, with one original member. Doubt any of them bought Dig Out Your Soul, or would even know the lead single The Shock of the Lightning to hear
Seems like a lot of empty seats in the stands. There were 100s of tickets available up to the week before.
Either way tickets were available for months despite fans knowing it was just Oasis he was singing. Yet Oasis will sell out in less than 5 mins I expect.
oh, you know more then the other person.. well done. Who gives a sh** when people discover music- that kinda talk is nonsense.
I got the confirmation. Hoping I get tickets, I got the subscribers email but didn't guarantee me a ticket.
Going on a nostalgia trip. Saw Oasis for the first time in the point in 97 when Liam didn't show up and Travis played support. I was still in school at the time.
They just don't have bands like them any more. They were such a huge part of my youth.
travis supported i dont remeber ever seeing them , i was in the night before
Eh no, that's not the point at all. Its people who are clueless and are trying to act smart and spread false rumors is the point.
I couldn't give a sh1t who likes what. But this is clearly a continuation of the last Oasis line up, yet everyone claiming to be fans decide to run with misinformation
I'll tell you what does annoy me though, there'll be people looking for tickets pretending to be fans, who do nothing but stick the boot into Oasis every chance they get. It seems to be the popular thing for large sections of society to reel off the same uninformed cliches about them.
Never changed their sound, rubbish after the first two albums, a poor Beatles tribute act etc etc. I mean have people actually listened to either band? If anything, Oasis would be more in the vein of Trex. Dig Out Your Soul, was a raw, very heavy, thumping album. But we're told they never changed their sound. Don't Believe the Truth often quite melancholy. Be Here Now anthemic. And none of it sounds like the Beatles, and there clearly was a change in sound.
I'm not the biggest Oasis fan, but they get so much rubbish thrown at them too. And how many bands really do change their sound radically? The Killers still doing synth rock years later and don't get that criticism thrown at them. Yet the sort of people constantly putting Oasis down, will be the first ones in the queue!
Yeah. It was before they became big. Think tied to the 90s was they're only big song at the time.
The crowd kept booing them and the lead singer was like any other night this would be a problem.
Travis a great band. As big as they were, still underrated. The best of that sort of later 90s/early 00s phase where you had Coldplay and Stereophonics etc coming through
Be amazed it at least one more Croke Park gig (Friday or Monday) wasn’t added and more likely both
Demand is there for sure
….
Lined up all night, got a ticket. Liam didn't show up. Drunk summer pissed on my shoe.
Not really a fan of the Killers, but got a free ticket to their concert in 3Arena recently. Travis supported and mentioned the Killers were inspired to form when they saw Travis supporting Oasis in Las Vegas in the 90s.
Also, Travis were very good. Better than the Killers I thought 😁 They did a very admirable job of getting the entire audience going with minimal lighting etc and a smattering of songs.
We should thank the future ex Mrs Noel Gallagher, had Noel no pre nup?

Ye the Cars the biggest influence on the Killers I believe. Killers always big fans of British music, for a long time popular here, but not in America, and always said they're adopted British in a way. Kings of Leon similar, far bigger and more successful this side of the Atlantic for a long time.
But it doesn't get more epic than singing along to Turn by Travis live. One of the greatest bands for a melody with the Beautiful South for me
Ha, also saw Paul Heaton last year in 3Arena, and was not expecting the concert to be as good as it was. I think he is a brilliant song writer and singer. And in his 60s. Beat that Noel and Liam. Absolutely underrated artist.
Same. Wife didn't get hers yet mind you. And now we play the waiting game till Friday morning 😁
Ye by chance actually started following a girl a few years ago, Rianne Downey. Seems to have taken Jackie Abotts place alongside Heaton this summer. Heaton and Damon Albarn the best enduring songwriters of their generation imo
Rianne is ok but Jacquie Abbott's and Paul Heaton's voices work so well together. Hope she recovers from her illness and gets back singing with PH.
Whatever about Rianne's voice, aesthetically looked very pleasing at Glastonbury ha. Loved when they brought out Fatboy Slim for a Housemartins reunion.
I liked the little touch on the posters when Heaton was last here, of them being in the League of Ireland jerseys. Has a keen interest in the world around him, always learning about different places and cultures like Damon Albarn, which you would assume is part of the reason they're such great songwriters
Wait til the #igotoasistickets etc start
Even Blink 182 mentioned it tonight, 90% of the crowd cheered
As Chris Moyles mentioned the fact that the number of days from the release of the first album until the breakup equals to the day the number of days to the announcement of the get together is perhaps the maddest thing on the face of the earth ever, 5478 days worth of pain.
No confirmation email here, signed up around 8 last night :(
Same here.
I just got mine a few minutes ago, signed up last night also
Just got mine :)
Not that it means I'll get a link, but it's a step closer :D
The amount of music snobbery in here….
Comical …
🤣
it’s incredible they’ve managed to keep this passion in people, love and hate haha
