To be fair, Oasis have a massive number of hits that have been played day in day out on the radio. Very few people won't know much of their music. I have never once put an oasis CD on or put them on Spotify and I went in and counted 15 songs I immediately knew and could sing the chorus from the name and I'm sure there's more. Half of them I know every word to, not by choice! A lot of people in their 30s and 40s will be well versed.
Forgot they sang the importance of being idle I actually did like that one.
I'm not buying a ticket but I think it's silly whinging about "event junkies" when it's a household name like this, with massive hits that everybody knows. This is why they can play croker. They've played smaller venues separately a million times for the "real fans".
I do think the hour headstart sucks though cause people will try and buy tickets for ireland first for sure.

I'm expecting less Liam/Noel songs (from their bands Beady Eye and high flying birds) and more of Oasis's hit songs.
fully agree, i also saw them twice, once, headlining in Cork, and supporting REM in Slane, and the Prodigy who supported, for the Cork gig, totally blew them away.
Great tracks they have a lot of, there is absolutely no denying that, but live, they were very dissapointing.
It will be one of those concerts were the crowd do all the singing.
On the line up, Gem Archer seems to be HFB, but Andy Bell isn't. I suspect it will be a mix match of musicians that Liam and Noel have worked with, and it will change depending on what's required in the set.
I can't see Liam agreeing to play ball with Noel to the degree of just joining HFB and calling it Oasis, unless he's really hard up, or mellowed supremely for the cash.
I must say I am feeling a bit nostalgic with all the hype about these concerts. I went to one of the two gigs in Cork in 1996 (and a couple in the old Point Depot as well). I went with a friend of mine that I don't talk to anymore. By a bizarre coincidence I met him for the first time in ages last Sunday night at his mother's removal. I just shook his hand and offered my condolences. Really weird that the gigs were announced a few days later. I suppose a lot of people will go to these gigs with the same person/people they went with in '96.

Ha, I don't think so. It is almost like a sign though. I was an Oasis fanatic during 94-97; that was when they were at the peak of their powers. I don't agree with people who say they weren't that good.
They had some brilliant songs, they have stood the test of time too.
Noel was a brilliant songwriter.

I remember queuing all night outside hmv on Henry Street for tickets. That was for the "be here now" show in the point. Got to the front door and the shutters went down, sold out. I won't be too disappointed sitting at the laptop on Saturday with a coffee if it doesn't work out. Would be a great night all the same.
