Well never thought id see the day..i know its that rag reporting it but their generally right on these kinda things. I guess thats our multiple nights in Croke Park band sorted for next Summer then✌
There is a guy called Stuart clarke he writes for Hot Press - he knows a lot of industry inside knowledge - he said on radio this morning that Noel plans to use the existing high flying birds band
Tickets starting at €86.50 according to someone on RTE radio, very surprised, happily, at that..
I think lots of people have great memories of buying be here now, it was probably the most over hyped album ever released up to that time anyway. It was never going to live up to it, but it does have a few great tunes on it. Definitely 3 or 4 that might feature on this tour. Plenty of later album songs that will need to fit as well. The importance of being idle, shock of the lighting, stop crying your heart out, fuckin in the bushes, little by little, Lyla, the Hindu times, go let it out etc, then the b side stuff, masterplan, whatever, half the world away. Huge back catalogue that does extend past the first two albums.
The High Flying birds are made up of a number of former Oasis members, Chris Sharrock, Gem Archer etc. Going back to the OG line up was never going to happen.
HFB plus Liam and Bonehead for a few tunes you'd imagine.
if they add more dates there will defo be a gap, No way liam will do 4 dates in a row
will we have to listen to the crap about tickets and hotel prices for the next fokking year.
RTE going large over this!
I say its the opposite, the real fans are not mental enough to pay 250+. Only the hipsters are
He's either Married With Children or a Rock n Roll Star…. D'you know what I mean?
Suppose having the 4 ticket limit is fare. I'm guessing they'll do that 'Aisle Seat' bollocks
I'm guessing extra dates (IF they happn) could be the Thursday and Monday, would they be able for 3/4 shows in a row ?
No, you'll see the price at the point of sale, up to you then if you want to buy at that price.
Ticket***er never put up prices.. Is that against some consumer laws ? (helps with their business model of 'dynamic pricing' aka Gouging )
Not to be a party pooper, but it sounds more like a case of Liam joining Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds than an Oasis reunion.
I'd much rather see the Morning Glory line up. Alan and Bonehead are still playing very well, no idea about Guigsy.
The fella that did all the artwork is called "Brian Cannon'
He has a youtube channel called "Microdot" some real interesting stuff on it.
It's funny when you think about it the memories come back. Power of music/nostalgia.
This concert would want to be heavily using the first two albums - Liam's best solo stuff IMO. Noel's stuff does not excite me. He has said most Oasis fans hate his solo stuff. I can understand why to be honest.
Surely the two brothers singing Liam's "One of us" is a must? Given the content/context of the song and video?
you can fit an extra 10-15k a night in Heaton, probably more flexibility with doing multiple nights as well
The Etihad is unavailable next Summer, they are extending one of the stands there.
lot of helicopters and people running about … a few smoke bombs thrown in too. What did it all mean ?
All around the world was a song Noel had from the very early days and was rumoured to be his masterpiece…. It wasn’t a bad song…. But it was a let down Oasis artwork was always great. I believe the same guy did all of it… or at least most of it.
Nowhere big enough up North to host Oasis. It probably kills some of the Nordies that Dublin aside this is UK gigs only, and here they are playing Dublin for the Ireland leg of the tour.
I can still remember as if it was yesterday going in to hmv to buy be here now the morning it went on sale, mad to think it's almost 30 years ago.
Most bands have a difficult 2nd album, BHN was oasis' difficult 3rd album.
God bless your memory!!! Tha's exactly what happened. That, and Elton John.
It's alright. But that became overplayed by the UK radio stations IMO as it was used in the aftermath when Princess Diana died, and the mass hysteria associated with it.
Any word yet on how to access presales?
That's the one with the Helicopters roaring? Like a scene from a Vietnam war film. I suppose it got peoples attention anyway.
I remember My younger brother (massive oasis fan at the time) had a look of bemusement on his face when I asked if it was "Be here now" was any good. He had rushed out to buy it.
I did think the CD cover looked great though! I listened to it a lot initially. But I can't honestly say any of those songs stood the test of time for me.
Don't go away is an excellent song.
Surprised they didn't go with the Etihad for Manchester given their leanings tbh.
Thanks for letting me know! Not familiar with it.
Heaton park is a terrible venue, its miles out of Manchester and a nightmare to get back from.
Cocaine and listening to NWA. I remember the video for do you know what I mean premiering on TV and there being extreme levels of hype.
It certainly brings back some meories alright. I remember being in secondary loving both Oasis and Blur, but lads who loved Blur would have serious arguments with lads who liked Oasis, and vice versa.
When you think back the amount of great bands in the mid/late 90's(even early noughties) was staggering compared to what's around today
That's more of an age thing though? Would you listen to "Be Here Now" much? I know I can't remember the last time I listened to anything from it.
But maybe something like "Girl in the dirty shirt" would be great live?
I always seem to come back to Definitely Maybe / What's the Story and a scatter of Noel B-sides when he was with Oasis.
