Any recommendations for BB bulls from Munster / progressive? Have had success with new red but wouldnt mind trying something else
A white BB with the red gene would work. Something like BB4438 wouldn't be the hardest to calve as far as blues go
@RobinBanks
Dovea have a great selection of BB bulls in fairness @MeheeHohee but that doesn't answer your question!
Thanks for that, my AI man is also able to pick up some Dovea straws from time to time, will have a look at BB4438
Off greggpark Marcus
Nice calf
Had no heed on him when born, only a tot. Cow has attitude but he's quite as a pet lamb
The ideal calf, out of a 3 star bull (I’ll shut up)
Glenford Sam heifer calf of a Loki dam in 1st picture. Drumline S1185 bull calf off a Charolais 2nd calver in the 2nd.
Did you get the straws from Gene Ireland? I must get some. I like both of their breeding.
No I didn’t Patsy, Ai technician has them. He’s with Dovea. I liked Glenford Sams pedigree, should be shape there without calving difficulty. The drumline bull is meant to have developed into a serious bull. I’ve used him on heifers this year as Ivor is gone, but going by the calf above, I’ll need to keep an eye on them as he was a good sized calf born. Corks have been the bone from the Charolais dam tho.
Have you tried Sliabh Felim Sterling or Birchpark Rufus??
Sweet calf
She’s a Sterling calf of a Cerberus dam. Very slight born but growing well. Haven’t used Rufus yet, but by all accounts he’s breeding easy calved stock
Any proven AA bulls with muscle gene
AA4087 has the single NT821 gene.
7,5 months old pure lim by the french bull JT. Hopefully he will be able to get some cows bred next year.
Jan born proper powerful calf weighted for scep at the weekend 325kg surprising as it’s me not tall at all. Heifers calf off a fiston heifer
I've a powerful proper red bull off a rio cow. He was terribly plain until I started feeding them 3 weeks ago. Flowered up and filled out.
Seems to be producing the style anyway at least. Them seem a bit challenged in the height department but thats not gonna come against them
Same as that here. Father has a late calf off him from last year (Nov). He has everything but lacking a little bit of height. Cow wouldn't have been over-tall either. Tried him out on a few of the taller cows lately so hopefully he brings a bit from them too.
What he did bring was a real dark colour. I'll get a pic this evening if I think of it.
Has anyone calves on the ground from LM6172 Erebos? Put him on a few heifers this year as he is easy calving but AI man said he hasn't used him at all only for mine
Power full proper
Neighbour here has 2 Powerful Proper calves. Nice shape but I thought they looked they would stay small. When you go up near them then, they look far better calves.
Yeah Il take a better picture of that lad when I get a chance was just after the herd test and everyone is covered in **** and stressed 🤣 My biggest issue this year is a lack of bulls only 5 in total and some of them are sa and si so lacking some real quality bulls but hopefully next year it will flip the other way
I wouldn’t be worried about si or sa bulls, I sold the first of mine (heifers calves) Christmas born and between 1310 - 1430. The salers in particular went well for me. Thanks to Tanko for convincing me to chance them on heifers.
That's good I had 4 SA calves 1 bull and 3 heifers one of the heifers is plain but exceptional quality future replacement hopefully. why didn't you keep some of them or did you keep other ones? then other calves of mine are lighter at 230kg at the moment roughly not sure if I will sell them in Oct / Nov or keep them and sell them as heavier bulls next spring.
Powerful Proper calf at 10 months
I got nearly all bulls in saler, all bulls no heifers in si and the same usually happens with sh when I use them. I’ve this years replacements all in calf to saler, I’m slowly starting to like them.
what saler are you using? Knottown Roy? Manclaux?
I was using a knottown bred bull and manclaux ai to some last year. Both bred well but all the calves were well fed, and they didn’t look pudgy so they can take feeding.
