Well never thought id see the day..i know its that rag reporting it but their generally right on these kinda things. I guess thats our multiple nights in Croke Park band sorted for next Summer then✌
it will be like
What a weird (and completely incorrect) take
Coldplay, ACDC and Taylor all started at around £55 in the UK for cheap seats.
£100 starting point for seats would be very high.
I don't know where you grew up
But where I grew up was pretty poverty ridden, surrounded by drugs and crime and music was a release and an escape from that. Oasis and The Stone Roses were the main players for that escape in the 90s
What I remember correctly or incorrectly is the middle classes thinking Oasis fans were scum and Blur was the more sofisticated listening, Blur were bloody brilliant too though.
The people I grew up with are now the middle classes that you mention, but we definitely weren't 30-40 years ago
I have heard this argument before but it was related to 90's gangster rap.
Jesus Christ lads, boards is really gone to absolute crap hasn't it with some of the comments here. Are a lot of people left on boards a bit disturbed or something or upset when people are looking forward to something. Is it that you won't be going or have no one to go with so you try to justify with your self esteem issues that they are bad so wouldn't go anyway.
I seen the same on Electric Picnic forum, people giving out about the wolf tones when they weren't even at electric Picnic!
It's an Irish thing, complaining about popular acts while lauding the latest Mongolian throat singing sensation. Best off to not even pay attention to it.
I wont have a bad word said about The Hu 😡
All this talk about the Gallaghers being from a rough/ poor area. They were brought up in Burnage , which is a fairly well to do area.
and used to come to Ireland every summer for their holidays…. poor kids in England weren't doing that back then.
Will it be the full original band? or is it just Noel & Liam?
This is just Paul Weller at various stages of his life.
I grew up in the 90s, in what would have been considered a well to do area. There would have been at least 20 lads from the age of 10 to 16 living in the area when WTS(MG) got released, and Oasis were huge in our area
Well to do is a push but its a nice enough area yeah. Still some rough people about though.
Class was barely a thing in Ireland in the early 90's. About 85% of the country could claim to be lower middle class
This debate has some small bit of relevance in the UK, not here
I would imagine it will be Liam and Noel Gallagher, Gem Archer, Andy Bell and Chris Sharrock, i.e. the final permanent lineup at the time of Noel's departure. (He left in August 2009 but they didn't officially split up as a band until that October.)
You can nearly tell what dates they're playing in Croke park next year , all the hotels have trebled their prices , same as the Olympic in 2072 we're hosting apparently
Which dates?
Completely agree, I probably didn't make the point well at all, I think my point was that you can't use comparables to suggest a price point to expect or to determine what's fair.
Bit mad to jump into a thread about a band you don't like just to tell others off for being excited about them playing their first gig in 15 years.
It's like those people who spent the Euros making sure everyone knew they didn't like football.
It's just typical of anything that's popular, people love to be edgy these days. Was the same rubbish when Garth brooks was playing, you'd swear people are being forced at gun point to see him.
I think Noel was super complimentary about Kneecap at Glasto so I think they'd be a strong contender.
Yeah it's all a bit too familiar around here these days.
Same with Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift and other threads with posters with empty lives for some reason trying to validate their existence by telling people what "good music" is and that its not the artist in question. I'll genuinely never understand these people.
Gaurunteed as well the last gig they went to was over 10 years ago.
This is state of boards right now
Certain users seem to come out of the blue when something big is announced. Any small thing to bite
Couldn’t see them inviting Kneecap to play at all tbh. Not the right match at all
I would say they'll bring Richard Ashcroft with them and maybe Kasabian or Travis for opening act.
I’d imagine Blossoms or Courtneers will be in UK , might being one of them over.
Blur.
Could you imagine a lineup like this at Slane:
3pm - 3:45 Travis
4pm - 4:45 Cast
5pm: - 5:45 Richard Ashcroft
6pm - 6:30 Ian Brown
6:45 - 7:45 Blur
8pm - 10:30 - Oasis
Ooooh shiver me timbers. Nostalgia overload.
I'm predicting Pastel for a support slot.
