As the title says, this is a new thread for chat about Dun Laoghaire in general without the traffic & transport nonsense.
Enjoy.
From Dublin Live:
This makes more sense. Apparently it was an error in reporting by an on-line news site
"Apology - Strudel Artisan Bakery. In an earlier version of this article it was reported incorrectly that rodent droppings were found in the food. This was incorrect. The rodent droppings were found in the storeroom"
It was Feb i think so it was an earlier report. They found dropping in the store room not in the food and it was closed for 5 days. Google strudal bakery.
The Food Safety Authority doesn't go into detail for this specific outlet, but it is public information that they were subject to a closure order.

There's no mention of Strudel there though. My question is why would the info about Chocolat de Frèd be published but not about Strudel if what you say is true?
I'm not party to know why some parts are published and some are not, I have the written report on strudel but as I said I believe posting it would be in breech of GDPR
My point is that something as clearly unlikely as "ratshit in the food" was not true. And it wasn't.
There's a world of difference between rodent droppings on the floor (every house in Dublin has probably had rodent droppings on the kitchen floor at some stage whether you like it or not) and rodent droppings in the food served to customers
That's all
I've already explained that what you said wasn't true. I don't know the people involved but it's not fair to say something as serious as that about a restaurant when it isn't true. That's all I'm getting at
I have the written EHO report detailing where the rat droppings were found, where's your documentation that disproves this?
And in this report it says ratsh*t was found IN the bread??
Anyone know why all around the spire of the church in Dun Laoghaire town centre is fenced off? Is there some risk of falling debris?
DLRCC are gonna convert the spire to high rise asylum seeker accommodation.
If you look at the space between the tower and the church you can see the rubble that fell off. It's crumbling and this fencing is required to keep people safe until a solution is found.
Just don't tell the loonie left that pulled down the fencing and barriers at the canal last night!
I know it's not Dún Laoghaire but does anyone know what happened to the new basketball net that went up in Blackrock park next to the pump track? There's a brand new court there and kids were using it a lot and now the net (hoop, backboard everything) is gone and they've put picnic benches on it?
It was put up to the right of the pump track.
They made a second basketball court on the other side of the pump track? Are you sure? I cycle through there a lot and I haven't seen it
I looked out for it on the dart earlier, there's definitely at least a basketball hoop beside the track, facing North
Not another court as such, just a relocation of the hoop itself.
OK I must have another look. Bizarre to separate the hoop from the court
Am I allowed to ask about parking in Dun Laoghaire here? I was hoping to use the Carlisle pier for parking as dont want to be limited by time on meter. There was a 5 euro daily rate there but Google maps tells me it is closed. Is there a daily rate for the Pavilion car park?
there’s a daily rate in the harbour car park under the open space beside the terminal
I see the Harbour one is 8 euro a day.
Anything west of the Irish Lights building is €4 per day
Finally spotted this on the access road. So strange to take the hoop off the court and put it on an access road.
Yep, and a picnic table now located where the basketball hoop used to be. My guess is that the apartments right behind the court complained and had it moved. This should probably have been foreseen. Hopefully they'll put a proper court nearby soon to correct the error.
I was thinking about why it was relocated and it's possible that the apartment owners may have got fed up with the noise of bouncing basketballs so close to their windows/doors, especially on long summer evenings……if we ever had any !!!
There's a few people I see wandering Dun Laoghaire with these dangerous looking dogs (usually without a muzzle), very unfortunate, but when will people learn?
https://www.rte.ie/news/ireland/2024/0905/1468583-dog-attack-dublin/
it’s a certain type of people that keep bully’s. not only do they need a muzzle in public they need a short metal chain and no under 18s to walk thEm, but the type that keep them don’t really listen to rules.
Gardai won't do anything, and when you do get in touch with the dog warden they say they'll be over in a few days
Can't argue with either of the above. I suspect we'll always have cases like this, as awful as they are.
Gathering area for the wanderers.Pidgeon sh1t,rubbish etc Or was the case
