Are you seeing all of the communities out Brendan? Specsavers thataway »»»»
Next thing you’ll be telling me that the post is not true………….
Like the little lads up in Derry chucking petrol bombs were not children but garden gnomes.
You’re a great lad for the selective viewing Francis, I’ll hand you that.
Go wan out dat,lad.
On any of the cases Brendan did you see anything approaching the majority of the community taking part? If you did, then I think we can start a GoFundMe to get you an appointment. It’s not like the dentist, won’t hurt a thing except your pride maybe.
It’s not an election Francis, we don’t need “a majority” to prove my point. Way more than a ‘small section of the community’ actively or tacitly get involved in this stuff.
And Francis if you think this joust is going to extend to around 5 pages…….I have news for you🤣
Brendan, you did not, repeat, did not see anything other than a small minority of the communities mentioned involved in violent disorder. Do you know the population numbers we are talking about here? You are wrong, or blind. Take your pick. Don’t want to be challenged, don’t make false claims.
Theres a small no of people who wish to be involved in riots or attacking buildings that maybe used to house migrants .young people are reading misinformation on x Twitter and racist content that is being posted by extremists . It seems to happen every year young people throwing petrol bombs against police in certain areas in Belfast as long as I can remember usually in the summertime
Anyone with an unjaundiced eye can see these are minorities. Generalising and stereotyping communities is not the way to go in wiping it out. Enabling community leaders to work on the ground to educate and divert should be the responsible government response. Not forgetting genuine engagement and consultation with those on the ground.
There are times listening to the Sunday show when I really miss Marian.
She used to get to the real issues although she had her "Brendan" moments occasionally too. But not as much.
For instance, she would have probably been attempting to get into the heads of the refugee protesters in Roosky, Oughterard, Ballinamore, Carrickmacross, East Wall, Carlow, and Achill etc to see where they are coming from. She would have given them a fair platform to express their concerns. She would probably have made mincemeat of the sometimes idiotic Fianna Gael stance on these refugee camps.
”Fianna Gael” Are they a new party?
Did you not get the joke there? Slooooowwwww. Fine Gael and Fianna Fail are now two sides of the same coin.
Good lad, my apologies, didn't get it, was cleaning out a spluttery load from the cats shíte tray.
Got distracted.
I thought it was a hooter. It's the way I tell em' 😉
Hopefully you'll make it to the bathroom next time, Bren.
Whenever shite is involved, always blame the cat. 😶
I thought that was a really good panel with Sinead McSweeney (former Twitter exec) and Lucinda Creighton. Career wise, it's a shame Creighton went down the anti-abortion dead end, and is out of politics as a result. Would also like to hear more from McSweeney about social media regulation. I'd say she more than anyone in this country has a better idea of what is possible to achieve and what isn't.
This mornings show was another classic in one sided broadcasting. The panel was stacked with NGO types who fulminated at length about 'social media' and 'disinformation' and so on. Well it was mostly Colm O'Gorman who kept rising to the top.
Then they switched to housing and the same Colm O'Gorman was scathing of the state. Perhaps not entirely unconnected was the fact that his daughter is out in Aus and likely priced out of ever coming home.
The odd thing was though that the same Colm couldn't add 1 + 1 and get 2. He didn't seem to understand that the debates on 'social media' that he so despised, were in many cases from people in similar boats to his family. People who have been affected by the rapid expansion of population in several different ways. In his world, it seems that these other riff raff should suck it up but something needs to be done about his issues.
What did ever do to deserve the likes of him and his fellow travellers.
Too true,I’m afraid, I would surmise that all these NGO types are trousering serious wedges.
Nothing matters except their issues it seems, and of course Ballsy on €280 large isn’t going to rock the boat.
Ballsy off again this weekend. Great work if you can get it.
Worth listening back to BOC interviewing Patsy McGarry on his new book, he's or was religious correspondent for Irish Times
I noted from the Eamonn Casey RTE programme on child abuse that McGarry didn't take the evidence of his niece etc so BOC challenges McGarry on this … they agreed to disagree at the end but BOC was very animated as someone who believes the abuse stories
Patsy McGarry was prevaricating much about his buddy Eamon Casey.
So called Ballsy had him on the hook of hypocrisy, reeled him in a little and then bizarrely let him off scot free.
Yep definitely let him off on that in the end
O'Gorman has a daughter????

Listened to it a while ago. In short it seems that McGarry was saying was that what the church did was bad, except in the case of Casey.
Screw him.
Re the McGarry exchange, I thought O'Connor handled it very well.
He cut the conversation short, having decided not to 'go there'. Seemed like a cop out to me.
I only heard it on podcast, was it at the end of the show or did he just move onto the next topic?
I was listening to it back as well. But I don't think it was the end of the show as I had heard the end live. I think he usually finishes with film/tv reviews.
Tried to listen to the first half yesterday but during the newspaper review, BOC kept interrupting and talking over the guest so we didn't hear what either had to say. Why does his producer not advise him to stop doing this? It's not even as if they were discussing anything controversial at the time.
It’s RTE dude, nobody corrects anything , you could have the traffic reports mispronouncing place names for weeks on end and nobody corrects them.
Moan eee vay are you listening, Fizzboro….are you listening…Nooze….are you listening.
