In all seriousness, though; the idea was mooted a while back and apparently the school would need planning permission or something. (I'd still do it anyway, if it was my choice and deal with the fallout afterwards….!)

Why would they need planning permission to paint their front walls?
Don't know about planning permission but objections can me made to buildings painted colours which don't befit the area.
I'm fairly sure Wilson's Hospital is a protected structure.
Whilst the gates and boundary wall may not be considered part of the protected structure, changes to their facade could be seen as inconsistent with the overall appearance of Wilson's Hospital and thus require planning.

Isn't there also something about charities not taking overtly political stances, or something like that? I'm basing this on a hazey memory of Project Arts Centre having to paint over their "Repeal" artwork.

If they painted the walls with pride colours, while it’d be undoubtedly funny, it might also be seen as a bit incendiary to the situation, and schools shouldn’t be getting involved in political grandstanding.
Nothing is gonna turn the public pro Bourke. They could paint Jesus plowing Buddha and it wouldn't move the needle at this stage.

This is nothing more than conjecture on my part but I always speculated that this entire family and it's use of the courts could come down to some gripe that was had by the father or one of the parents many years ago which they held a grudge against. Some issue with the judicial system. Subsequently deciding to arm themselves with heavily educated but brainwashed automaton kids who would become a nightmare for the judicial system.
I'm almost starting to admire the crazy bastard.
