Feels like the right time to start a new thread for next year's gigs.
John Mayer playing the 3Arena on 29 March 2024.
They were excellent in Monroe’s last year. Very tight band, a good setlist and Buster gives it everything.
.
Is he yer man riding Paige
Yes, might grab a ticket closer depending on price
Went to Two Door Cinema Club in the tent at Galway Airport last night.
Exceptional experience. Drove from Mayo. Very, very well organised.
1. Stewards directed cars right up the runway to the parking spots. Concrete! No mud.
2. Parking was literally a two minute walk from the tent.
3. Excellent security, very fast, very thorough.
4. A sort of " village" set up around the tent with food outlets, the Heineken bar, and toilets, merch etc.
5. Even the Wheelchair spot was in a good position, right behind the sound desk on a ramped, raised platform.
6. Standing only, but because it wad in a big-top, with two large exits at the back, getting in and out to bar or toilets was a breeze.
7. Sound was excellent. Surprisingly so. I'm.a musician and have played some challenging venues, but the sound here was pretty damn good.
8. Band were excellent. Lost the crowd in the middle when they played a Jungle ( the band) track, bit I thought it was one of the best songs of the night. Can't remember the name of it though. Last 1/4 of the gig was fantastic.
9. Leaving the venue? A breeze. I was home in Mayo at exactly 12 midnight.
More of this please. A really well-organised venue. No complaints whatsoever. Very odd to have your sat-nav showing you driving down a runway:)
Excellent to hear. I’m there for the Waterboys and Pixies. Particularly good news on the parking and getaway. You leave slightly early or no need?
No need. Mountains of room on the runway. Such a great idea.
Very odd to have your sat-nav showing you driving down a runway:)
Were you tempted to go full top gear and floor it?
Great gig at 2DCC in Galway.. but good christ, the average age of that crowd was far younger than I expected.
But very well organized.. hopped on bus and back in city in no time.
Blossoms playing Academy Sat 16th Nov
And The Limelight on the 13th
Going to The Waterboys tonight. Third time lucky as the other 2 times I have had tickets, the gig has been called off last minute and I couldn't make it last minute.
Any word on stage times / support act times?
Enjoy!
Just "won" tickets for Gossip next week
I remember a few of us discussing them playing Collins Barracks and whether or not it was ambitious. Singular Artists were giving away tickets through their mailing list (I think it was technically a competition, can't remember) so I'm guessing it hasn't sold well, shame
Sprints supporting so I'm delighted to get tickets. Will need to listen to Gossip's new stuff now, and check out Nation of Language
^ Really like Nation Of Language.. kinda 80's synth-pop..
Seeing them on Friday on the undercard for LCD in All Points East London.
Cool, I'll check them out on my commute. And, sure, I'll be there anyway 🤣
Nas playing olympia in November on 30th illimatic tour. Expect announcement tomorrow or Wednesday
That's superb news. Perfect venue for me and the exact material I want to hear.
Waterboys superb at Galway Airport tonight. Easy getting in, slower out and the €12 parking charge is very cheeky. Doesn't compare well to the Big Top in the centre but I'm off there again for the Pixies in eight days and will be there again next year if decent stuff is booked. I'd prefer to give my cash to GIAF rather than MCD so the Arts Fest crew need to get their fingers out.
4 nights in vicar for wallopers either side of Christmas
Indeed the band really was excellent. I didn't get to check out the facilities though. We went straight from the car to the front of the stage and didn't move from there until we went back to the car again. No pints, food or toilet visits.
Definitely grabbing tickets for one of the vicar St gigs. They're also doing killarney, cork and the sse in Belfast
Any idea when tickets go on sale?
ah, man, €12 for parking in an event specific carpark, that is taking the p***
they couldn't just have it as a round 10, just went for the 12
I saw the waterboys in Kilkenny a few years back and I had to take some deep breaths about the fiver parking fee that the cowboys who owned/managed the venue were charging.
presale tomorrow and general sale Friday (if any left)
Someone has to pay for the people working the car park, insurance and the logistics. If you add it onto the ticket price then people who don't drive also have to pay for your car.
Villagers playing the Olympia on Sunday 8th December
If there's anyone genuinely selling a pair coldplay tickets get in touch 👍
Last gigs at the airport (Fever Pitch festival) had free parking. Two people working the car park on arrival, none on departure. The Gardai were handling the traffic at the gates. A small charge of €5 is fine but €12 is gouging as the ticket was already €67.50. At a conservative estimate of 1k cars (almost the entire crowd headed towards the car park rather than buses or taxis - Monday night and an older crowd) for a 5k event that's €12k in soft money for MCD.
Yes, I'm aware of that and what I am saying is that €12 for this service is taking the p***.
