ABC 80s on 93.3
Retro FM on 94.3
90s Network on 98.4 ConnectFM on 107.1
Are the pirates audible to me this afternoon in Donnybrook. Seems to be a slightly weaker signal from Retro but that may be my imagination. the AM pirates have been very quiet of late .. summer holidays perhaps?
Yesterday, as well as the four above, there was also oldies being played on the unidentified station on 99.5 FM in south Dublin. This used to sometimes stream/relay Energy Power AM, which does not seem to have been on so far this year. I think it did relay Radio Daniella on 1206kh MW a few times this year.
Quick scan from the Dublin mountains at pine forest car park
Pirate stations were struggling yesterday afternoon against high powered transmitters.
87.6 Chill FM
93.3 ABC 80s (RAIDIO Na Gaeltacht 93.2 hammering away)
94.3 Retro FM
98.4 90s Network (BBC1 98.3 Very Strong)
103.0 Energy Ratoath
105.7 RetroNow
107.1 Connect FM (Newstalk 107.2 Strong)
Oh yeah, I forgot that I picked up Chill FM on 87.6 yesterday as well!
1206AM relaying Radio Caroline today.
also heard 99.5FM, ABC80s, Connect, Retro & 90sNetwork.
have Nova moved their Bray tx up a notch? They’re now on 95.8. Could be some interesting side effects along the coast with LMFM on the same frequency
106.7 from Cashel Co Tipperary continues as being just a silent unmodulated carrier for MONTHS. It is just a needless waste of electricity leaving it on in this state
Pirate station on last Sunday 18th Aug in Blessington Co Wicklow on 94.3 Playing dance no id's or jingles …Strong as you enter town but still getting hammered by Retro 94.3 FM Dublin
interesting, what happened there i wonder to cause this?
At different stages this morning, I happened to tune into ABC 80s around south Dublin on 93.3 FM. Two songs cropped up that were not from the 1980s. First I heard You're My Best Friend by Queen, which is from the mid 1970s. Later I heard A World of Our Own by The Seekers, first released in 1965 and re-released in 1994 (neither in the 1980s!).
Nova are still listing the Wicklow TX as 95.7 but it is on 95.8
It's cutting into LM FM 95.8 in Dublin City and gradually replaces it completely as you head southwards.
Strange change as its now competing with East Coast 96.2 TX which is a few kws iirc
Was the frequency change authorised, or is it a mistake I wonder?
it’s been like that for a few weeks now so I’m guessing it’s official. LMFM wipe it out at my QTH in Dartry.
from the same site too AFAIK
I thought 96.2 was from Bray Head , open to correction but I thought 95.7 was coming from Greystones?
according to Frequencyfinder Nova are using 200 watts from Bray Head. It also says they’re on 95.7 so your guess is as good as mine!
I think you are correct, which makes 95.8 even more bizzare.
Now I need to find out what is transmitting from that Dipole in Greystones?!
currently Nova on 95.7/95.8 not on at all (reception report from Dublin 14)
Nova on 95.8 here (Sundrive area ) completely wiping out LMFM (5.20pm)
Bray Head:
Spirit 90.1
Nova: 95.7 (8)
East Coast 96.2
Greystones seems to be only RTE and Today FM.
Strange as I thought Nova where on that Greystones relay, it was mentioned officially somewhere but perhaps things changed, or it's intended to cover Greystones as part of the commuter belt.
East Coast where always Bray head anyway.
Seattle Jazz station online being relayed now (Thursday night) on 12O6kHz AM.
Update: it went QRT just before midnight
Nova back on 95.7 Today !
Ironically LM FM interfering with them ! (Woodtown)
CONNECT on 107.1 in Dublin are back on this weekend Saturday 7th September with a massive signal and great audio. Signal excellent in Tallaght / Firhouse and in most of Dublin, great music mix.
Yes big signal on 107.1 in Dublin from Connect FM , Heard a couple of 80s gems earlier
1206AM relaying Radio Caroline.
Crystal clear signal in south Dublin , audio sound very good (breakaway?) And some great 80s -if only Classic Hits 80s would play these gems !
Is this anything to do with the Connect FM from a few years ago?
Connect FM (107.1) has an extremely strong and very clean signal this weekend. The ERP could be >1kw and coming from a clear, high site. Nicely done.
Now currently it is on a blank carrier, so that's unfortunate - but it can happen, especially for a new station with newly set up equipment.
Many possible causes including link/internet failure if playing the audio remotely. I know of one other possible cause that is due to a bug (intentional or otherwise) in the Breakaway audio processor. If you use the "stream receiver" option and if it's an unlicensed copy of Breakaway, this will unexpectedly stop after a period of time with a "no audio detected" error. Simplest solution is to use an external application to receive the stream and process as normal in Breakaway.
Anyways, best of luck to the Connect team. We should chip in and help with the electricity costs maybe? 😊
Blank carrier all afternoon and evening, around 2pm the carrier went off and returned blank. The audio was skipping a bit this morning. Hope they get it sorted, some great tracks on it and extended 12 inch mixs..
I have not heard the station, but sounds like it might have been more interesting (for distant nighttime listeners/DXers) to have instead relayed Connect 107.1 on 1206kHz on Saturday night, considering the favourable comments above (Caroline of course audible at night anyway on 648)
