Thanks folks. I’m probably not as put off by high mileage based on this feedback. This is the 2nd car for the family - already have a large estate for wheeling around the kids etc, so prefer the smaller size of ID3 vs ID4. Still want good range/battery but it won’t be the car we will be using for longer cross-country journeys. For the moment - until we go full EV!
Based on your budget, I think there is better value to be had on a 2021 ID.4 1st Edition over an ID.3. Bigger car, bigger battery, more power and better spec for similar money. Possibly more choice too. Mileage isn’t that relevant on an EV but with a VW, be mindful that the HV battery warranty is 8 years or 160K Km’s.
I have the Cupra born in 204bhp, they never released the lower powered one here. So will feel the same as the ID3 204bhp.
The id4 I drove is actually 174bhp so would probably be close enough in power to weight as the 145bhp ID3.
Look around slightly further afield too OP, there's good deals on ID3 around the place
FFS 73K KILOMETERS is 14k miles a year I'd be worried if it was 173k.
204hp is noticeably nicer than 150 I've had both
I'd go with the higher power one. Same as buddy above, I've only driven the lower power ID4 and it wasn't great. My ID3 is a 212 reg Tech spec 58kWh with the 150kW/204hp motor which is pretty nice. I bought it used earlier this year with under 30k km and very happy with it so far.
I've never driven the lower powered ID3 but I have in the id4 and I personally found the difference quite noticeable

Hi all. Long time lurker, first time poster here. I am looking at a 2nd hand ID3 and will be my first EV. Budget is 22-24k so 2021 family spec seems to be the sweet spot here. I am based in Mayo and ideally would buy locally - Mayo/Sligo/Galway. VW dealer in Ballina has the following

The first one has 73k kms on the clock. Dealer is saying battery SOH is 94%. My head is telling me that the mileage is high for a 3 yr old car, not sure if that matters the same for an EV?
The 2nd model is lower mileage at 53k, and the lower powered version. 1k in the price between them.

Its a bit of a guessing game here, but i would expect the pricing and details, to be available, in the next 3 months or so, with deliveries likely be early next year for Ireland, the German website already has all the new variants up already for configuration, the French VW site has most of them, except the GTX Performance. and the UK website has none of these up so far, so i’d guess the much larger UK market will likely be updated first, with the new variants, and then Ireland.
Can I expect updated ID.3 models and a new pricelist between now and January? Most recent pricelist on VW Irish site dates from May and doesn't have models with the new motors in it.

Thanks for the recommendation. I’ve been looking for the non in-channel ones. Had them on previous cars and they marked the glass on the window. These ones attach to the door.
And like you said, Amazon are good with returns and stuff. If they’re rubbish, they’ll go back.

The marketing will say otherwise but the ID.3 is an efficient car already so the new motor wont change it by any significant amount. Its the other things that you will notice… battery pre-heating, bigger battery options, more power etc

Never heard of Suhnge, maybe check for some reviews in case they are rubbish. Heko, Climair etc. are all available for the ID.3 on micksgarage etc. for similar money. At least with Amazon you can easily cancel your order and get a refund. Be warned, they can add a lot of wind noise no matter what brand.
Finally found a set of 4no. wind deflectors for our ID.3. Came in at €61 delivered from Amazon Germany. Not due until sometime between August 24th and September 14th, but they’ll be worth the wait.
Might be worth ringing round a few breakers to try and find one a bit cheaper. I’m not sure if many ID.3’s came fitted with the false floor though. You could have quite a search.

I think the Pro S with the bigger battery gets the upgraded motor but not the Pro

Might be doing an upgrade, have a 221 ID.3. Would a 251 ID3 have the newer electric motors for better efficiency ? or is it a tiny change that I would never notice ?
Also, ID.4 im tempted by if only cause it's a newer refresh.
Variable Height Floor and associated rails come up on eBay occasionally but are expensive as per this example. Might be as cheap to buy a new one from a VW dealer.
I went and got a set of tyre plugs, a decent compressor and a jack after a puncture caused me to miss a ferry home
Still running on that repaired tyre nearly 2 years later with no issues
The thing with space savers is you can only drive at 80, so your next stop is likely to be the tyre shop anyway
My view is that the plugs need to work long enough to get a proper repair
Re lack of spare wheel…
1 how often do you actually get a puncture
2 if the there gunk and compressor don't fix it the tyre is most likely f@#ked
3 if the tyre is f@#ked just drive on it very slowly to civilisation just be carefulful not to make shite of the wheel.
My personal record is 35km @ 20 kph the one and only time in 38 years driving I've ever as it happens I've ever had a catastrophic puncture.I chose to drive all the way home at that particular time and just took the wheel to a tyre shop in another car.
Has anyone bought a space save spare wheel for the ID3? I see some third party companies putting together wheel & tookit for 250ish delivered.
Im wondering is there any space saver from VWs that are likely to be in breaker yards that I could pick up for less?

Locking it up is a pain, luckily work has a bike shed which helps a bit
When I cycle at least 20% of the time is getting out of the shed and on the road and locking it up and changing at the other end.
Yeah they're very simple in stop start traffic, particularly if you can use the ACC to do half the work
However I still say the best way through the city is a bike. I've tried driving, public transport and cycling and the bike wins hands down every time
Main drawback of the bike is that you'll be a sweaty mess when you arrive, so shower facilities are a must
Second drawback is all the car drivers 😉

On a positive note I will say driving across the city centre in an EV is so much easier than an ICE even an Auto ICE. I usually get the train but drove today. So much less tiring in an EV.
