You'd imagine a passing loop would have to form part of the plan. It would allow for an increase in services along the line as you could schedule a Limerick-bound train and Ennis-bound train to meet there and pass each other. Will be interesting to see location. I imagine it will be adjacent to proposed private hospital and housing.
I see thet there's a bridge replacement planned for ther Ennis to Limerick Line in September
Saturday 21st September
Limerick to Ennis
Bridge renewal
Limerick to Ennis, Limerick to Galway
I don't think renewal equates to replacement.
Is this to sort the flooding?
No bridge near the area that floods.
Fair enough 🙄

Anyone know where the works took place over the weekend?
Diggers were in place at Clarecastle train station certainly
A lot of discussion on capacity enhancements for the Ennis line at the Limerick Rail forum last week
I presume this includes a passing loop in Sixmilebridge?
I think that would be just about it. There used be one in Ballycar up until a good few years ago. All trace was removed when the line was relayed in the early 2000s
Are the any written reports on what was discussed at the rail forum? There was plenty of media about it before it happened, but I've heard nothing since.
I found this article today

Some other details about where passing loops would be Sixmilebridge not included , but what they are looking at doing seems sensible as it involves using land they own to get a quicker result
I'm wondering about how useful a passing loop at Clarecastle would be as its so close to Ennis.
No mention of Sixmilebridge in this either. One was proposed for there years ago but held uo until the signaling in limerick was upgraded.
Any chance of Ballycar?
Audio piece mentions Crusheen, Cratloe and Clarecastle for passing loops and Sixmilebridge for a platform extension.
It mentions Ballycar as a separate project progressing.
AAs much as Clarecastle is close to Ennis I think it's the combination of both that provide the answer. Target is modest too, 1 per hour
What bridge replacement works are planned for this month?
I can't see anything specifically about a bridge in the engineering works notification on Irishrail but at a guess it's the road bridge at Hartigans Hill, Moyross.
