Its no longer called Ballyseedy, now called Fairtree Village and the garden centre section is now called Kingdom Garden Centre. No longer owned by the MacDonnell family, however I think a couple of the sisters are still working in the garden centre. Cafe in there is being run by Ronan & Linda Hurley (roast house previously). The main owner of the centre is probably under a company name, so don't know who exactly it is. But if you do a company search it is registered as 4 Denny St, Tralee, which would probably be a solicitors there?

Ballyseedy Properties Limited is still trading and lists assets as the building and the directors are the family
Kingdom Garden Centre is registered at Nathans fathers address
I will assume Fairtree Ltd is paying rent to Ballyseedy Properties Limited for use of the building, So you can be sure Nathan no longer owns the shares on paper, a gentleman's agreement is something else
Anyone know if these are available in Tralee please.

Anyone know of cheap accommodation in Tralee? Budget af. Hostel ideally if there even is one. Travelling there in a few weeks.
Apologies if thread not appropriate. Maybe a mod can nudge me in the right direction otherwise.
There are hostels, but as far as I know most of them are now used as homeless shelters. I don't know if any are open to the public anymore. You could try Benners hotel, it may be the best for hotel deals and is in the town centre. There is the Castle Hostel, which is in the same street. I know it was recently sold to new owners, but I'm not sure if they are open to tourists etc. You could chance them

There's also the White House hostel in Boherbee, just up the road. Again, not sure if open to public/tourists, but I think they are judging by this booking page:

White house and Finnegan's are homeless shelters.
I know, that's what I said! But no harm letting them contact them and check themselves!
No sane person would want to be sharing a dorm with alcoholics and drug addicts. Why would he waste his time checking with them.
Castle Hostel is listed on hostelworld so that would be your best bet. Not too far from the middle of town. https://www.hostelworld.com/pwa/wds/hosteldetails.php/Castle-Hostel/Tralee/327457?from=2024-09-03&to=2024-09-05&guests=2
Why can't they just make up their own minds!? There are families in The whitehouse hostel, not full of alcoholics & drug addicts. Pretty sure the Castle Hostel isn't either! Bit of an assumption to make about all of them!
How's the Tralee Townhouse as a place to stay one night in September?
Is Tralee townhouse still open?
Are locals really going to know how well a local hotel or guesthouse is going to be for accommodation as locals will generally not be booking to stay in such places in the town they live in? Why not just read the guest reviews for a place on Booking.com or Trip Advisor like any savvy tourist or visitor does when they book accommodation in a place they're not familiar with? You're more likely to get unbiased opinions that way.
Are the Sean Mhuillean apartments still just student apartments?
No not anymore
I remember seeing a review of Finnegans when it was more of a backpacker hostel years ago, and female guests complaining about the owner leering at the young women in the place. It may well be owned by someone else now. 😛
Creepy! I think it has become more of a homeless type shelter too. I think there was a fire there a couple of years back caused by one of the "guests"... ! It's a pity the basement restaurant closed. It always was a lovely, cosy setting fot an evening meal.
Anyone try Flower Power in the old Roast House? Is it actually a vegetarian cafe or does it offer meat options too? Home next week and interested in trying it.
Its just vegetarian. Its lovely and bright inside. I only got a take-away salad, but it was nice (as salads go!).
They're taking reservations, but their prices are no better than the local hotels (they quote a low number then factor in 'fees' which is pretty sly). So, we're looking elsewhere.
Flower power is a lovely spot, bright and colourful and the staff are very friendly. Nice menu also. It is vegetarian only.
A menu in the window would be helpful instead of going in and sitting down and then deciding you don't like it.
for sure. Walked past the last day but wasn’t chancing it with 3 kids in tow without knowing what’s on the menu. Nothing on their socials either!
Why not suggest it to them? It's good feedback.
I'm sure if you asked for the menu before sitting they will give it to you also! I went in for lunch to take away and she gave me a menu to look at. They may have just not thought to put one up in the window yet.
The restaurant near the car wash in Monavalley is reopening again. I think the Polish lads from the place in the Horan centre (beside Quinlans) are involved.
I was wondering what was going on in there. Hopefully they can make a go of it.
They have a good chance I would think, they offer a good service in the Horan Centre.
Good luck to them. I still think the Oakpark/MTU/Kerry Tech. Park area is crying out for a decent cafe other than just Meadowlands and the shops. I don't know why Subway or the place that replaced it were not viable.
