Closing date for initial applications is 3pm on the 6th June, 2024.
Best of luck everyone! Candidate Information video is available here: https://vimeo.com/943622208/bbf6b13d05
That's brill, congrats. Wonder how many applications they'll pull for initial shortlisting in Cork. I'm in the late 50s so hoping they'll take the first 100 at least to begin with🤞
I got placed 11 on my OOM but I have no EO experience so I won’t do well in the shortlisting.
It’s all about capability now not experience. If you’ve shown you’re capable of doing the job in your form then you should get through
Ah thanks! I'll keep you updated if I hear anything.
Fantastic, thanks a mil. Hope we wont be waiting too long.
There is an appeal form. However I wouldn't expect much from it. The response I got back in 2022 was "we are happy with our decision, best of luck next time"
Baffled as to how this comp is being ran.. seems different than before.
If in the 1000s OOM based off metrics, is there possibility of interview based off shortlisting of form?
Thanks
I was just over 1000 for EO and got placed a few years ago, then OOM got smaller after the E-Tray. I know they will probably take a large number for this of over 400 for Dublin and a high percentage will fail the form shortlisting id expect the OOM of anyone who passes the form shortlisting to dramatically drop.
I expect mine to drop to zero

There is another free testing on https://www.assessmentday.co.uk/
There is free testing on Aptitude Test - FREE Online Practice Aptitude Tests
I got an oom that was in the 1400s so I doubt I'll even get called after shortlisting with a low oom like that.
I did a good application I believe i added my exp so on.
Hopefully everyone gets a chance to shine in the interview. Goodluck folks
TBF it seems to be the same as he 2022 one.
I think it was said before, they reached into the mid/late 1000s for Dublin form the initial OOM.
That was a 2 year panel remember, this panel ends Nov 2025.
This seems to be a very Dublin focused comp especially with them releasing the data with positions filled per county for the last 2 comps. The option of just 1 location is unusual too.
The panel MAY remain in place up to 7 November 2025 or until such time as a new panel is in place - this leaves room for an extension. It’s not financially prudent for PAS to run yearly HEO competitions when they have batches of people ready to be shortlisted and interviewed
Anyone know how long roughly the shortlisting process takes?
If you were doing an exam in laptop and switched the screen can they actually see that even if it was emails thanks
Yes they could see what you see
How exactly could they know what you were doing on your own computer? That would be a serious browser breach
An online proctored exam is a timed assessment via an online platform in which the candidates’ desktop activity, webcam video, and audio are monitored.
It's standard for these types of assessments.
Same question - no software is used, it is done through the browser
Apparently it's about a month from the date they announce the stage 1 OOM.
There is no way to exit out of the tests once they're started, so you can't check emails or anything like that.
I read through all the terms and conditions on these exams and they do have permission to perform a screen record as such while doing your exam. They can only see their exam screen and if you exit out or click to another browser, they will only see a blank screen because of GDPR. So they would review how many blank screens someone had as it obviously meant they were clicking off. But calculators and that would be perfectly fine. I was surprised but I suppose they have to make sure everyone is doing it correctly
So you don't get to know if you passed until your batch number is met is that correct ? So batch 1 could know if they passed for 2 months before batch 3 let's say ..
Fritztelly is correct, the company used for the HEO tests can't see other sites or tabs you might view - they'd require dedicated software/app for that (like lockdown browser or proctorio).
The standard of proctoring used for these is laughable compared to universities. Even the webcam wasn't on for the duration of the tests - it was only on for the room scans and at the very end.
Universities, or any institution with decent proctoring, will require you to download and use a special locked-down browser/app that will monitor everything you do.
Someome previously said there was no way to check emails during the test. That isn't true, you could open another tab or browser and view them without any issue at all.
I suspect they'll move to a more stringent form of proctoring in the future to counteract people using chatgpt.
Well you know you have passed the tests already because they told you in the initial email with the OOM. But you won't know what batch you're in until they call you- that is if they need to call a second or third or fourth batch etc.
I suspect they'll just go back to in-person tests
How many typically in first batch for Dublin shortlisting?
