That would have lasted me a week :-(
Same! :)
Well it does have competition
Nice bargain in Tesco. Lovely stuff.
Aldi have a Mexican chilli sauce - Cholula I think. Is it any good taste wise, I'd assume it's fairly hot?
Cholula is a tasty hot sauce, not really hot at all (YMMV).
As soon as I hear or read the word Mexican I assume its not really going to be that hot. Hot to the uninitiated but once you get into hot sauces they don't really register.
I have a bottle of Bulls Eye Carolina Reaper that is 6% chillies. I find that quite hot.
That one is hot, Dunnes had it for a while but like anything decent they get in they stopped stocking it.
Tesco were flogging the Bullseye Reaper sauce for €1.
Its fairly useless tho. Too hot.
I knew Dunnes weren't going to stock it again when they reduced it to 90cents a bottle I bought the 3 remaining - they didn't last long :-(
Just sitting here eating some quorn fried up with Athula's jalfrezi sauce and rice. Delish. And damn hot and spicy.
I must search out that brand, new one to me.
Seems to be just a jar of jalfrezi cooking sauce. I wouldn't consider that hot sauce in the context of this thread, tbh.
A couple of La Anita, love that brand.
True, but not "just" a jar of cooking sauce. I have mentioned it before on this thread. It is hot and pretty amazing. Athula himself makes it in Carrigaline using spices from his farm in Sri Lanka. Sells it on his website and in Supervalu in Carrigaline.
In my opinion, tastes better than some of the hot sauces I have used.
I'd suggest igcorcaig tries it and renders judgement. I'd even provide the jar :)
No affiliation, just a lover of it

It's not hotsauce!
It may be very good and have a great back story, but sorry, it is just a jar of cooking sauce.
I will try it LF, thank you. I think SuperValu sell it.
However, this thread is specifically for hot sauce.
I didn't find it too hot. I just found it too strong of a garlic taste. Although I will caveat that as I think I may be the only one who actually enjoys "Da Bomb" although since the popularity of "hot Ones" has spiked, I find it hard to get anywhere.
That and concbui reminded me to pick up a bottle as I've had it before but couldn't remember it.
Straight out the bottle its not bad not that hot as I can swig it from the bottle :-0 but good flavour can't wait for some food to try it on.
Went back into Tesco for another couple of bottles of the Tabasco Siracha.
Cholula down to 2 quid in Tesco now too.
Thanks for the tip. Picked up some Cholula in Aldi earlier this week and i will pop into my local Tesco over the weekend to see if they've any of that Tabasco Siracha. It's probably just a local store thing i imagine, rather than nationwide.
Got some of this in Lidl a while back. Tasty enough Piri-Piri sauce.
Dunnes appear to be stocking some Sauceshop products at the moment. Didn't pick up any yet so can't comment on the quality.
The Mad Bastard sauces are my go to at the minute. Really nice
Do you mean Crazy Bastard? Or is there a Mad Bastard brand too? CB sauces are very nice alright.
Sorry, yea crazy bastard. I was thinking of the neighbour at the same time 😂
It appears that Lidl will be selling Blackfire hot sauce from 19th September (while stocks last). I'll be giving that a go anyway as i think someone recommended it here before.
Probably the thread for it. Anyone made hot honey? Made a few batches over the last week or so.
Basically honey, chilis and a splash of vinegar.
Made jalapeno hot honey yesterday. 250ml honey, 1 x large jalapeno chopped (seeds included) and a bit of ancho powder into a pot to just a simmer, take off the heat, leave for 20 mins, stir in a splash of apple cider vinegar. Really good. Goes great with almost everything. BBQ chicken, spuds, ham and cheese toasties. Had it on eggs this morning.
Also did one with chili flakes last week but it was a bit sharp. Need the freshness imo. Trying birds eyes or habanero next.
I think hot honey is usually a fermented thing. I'm curious to try that.
Enjoying these. Fruity stuff. Nice level of heat.
