Shortlisting is done by humans.
I work in an area where PAS ask us for staff to help with it.
Most employment agencies would use scanning software so not out of the realm of possibility
You're bang on, shortlisting is 100% done by a human panel, that's why it's done in batches.
Couldn't be! If the shortlisting was done using software, there would surely be no need to shortlist in batches and certainly no need to do so after the tests. I would have thought the reason shortlisting comes after online testing is to filter out a certain percentage to reduce the administrative burden of going through the applications. Otherwise, it would make little sense for one's application form (Shall we call it Stage 0?) to be sufficient to progress to Stage 1, but not Stage 2, no?

I passed the tests in the 2022 comp but didn't get shortlisted based off my form. I subsequently heard from a reliable source that PAS use software to shortlist the forms - basically scanning for buzzwords from the competencies. I wonder will it be the same now with the new capabilities format - I can't imagine a few people sitting there marking thousands of forms.
In the 2022 comp results of tests came out, 1 month later shortlisting results and based off colleagues in my dept interviews were then approx 2 months later (this was for Dublin and OOMs in the top 300)
Got OOM low teens! Shocked, delighted and chuffed with the result but very nervous about the shortlisting. It’d be awful to do so well in the tests and not be called for interview based on the application I submitted before the tests! This waiting game is a killer…
I'm in Kerry also, and will let you know if I hear anything about shortlisting etc.
No one can say - will depend where you end up on the OOM after shortlisting if you make the shortlisting

Top third in numerical and middle in verbal here. OOM high 600s. A long wait for shortlisting by the sounds of it, if they even get to me.
If you haven't had results yet you should contact PAS.
I got top third for Verbal, I did very well in the verbal and Lower third for numerical which I still did ok in but my OOM is in the 1000's.

That's the way they shortlisted in the previous HEO comp. The first 400 or so applicants were shortlisted. A high amount of them did not get through shortlisting though.
so they’re going to shortlist as they go along? I thought they would shortlist everyone and get a new OOM, but going off PAS response above, they are shortlisting in batches
..
I think some posters above were querying average scores released today versus OOMs quoted on here, and that it didn't tally, the averages were based on countrywide not location, so hence the confusion, OOM's would not be relative across locations. Sorry should have quoted first person.
Same for me - and I usually do ok on the verbal
Why is that relevant? I didn't mention anything about location.
I got higher third on numerical and lower third on verbal, placed low 600's for Dublin.
I remember not being able to answer 'true' to any of the verbal ones, they were all 'false' or 'cannot say' for me which I knew couldn't be right but I should have taken more time - I probably rushed it more than I needed to.
Good evening, everyone. Best of luck to all who passed the test. Please, God, I hope you all pass the interview, get through, and get placed. I’m sorry for those who didn’t pass the test—I’m afraid I’m one of them. I did very well in maths but struggled with the verbal section. Does anyone remember any of the verbal questions, or does anyone know of a site where I can practice? I didn’t practice at all, and I completely forgot that we weren’t timed, so I didn’t read the questions properly. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Surprised how well I did on the numerical reasoning, was expecting to have failed it. Placed in low 300s. Any idea how many they bring forward in batches for interviews or timeframe? Possibly interview by end of year or early 2025?
I contacted PAS this afternoon asking when will receive stage 2 results(shortlisting based on application form).
This was their response:
"Candidates will be brought through shortlisting in order of merit per location choice as vacancies arise.
Results will then issue to candidates accordingly."
One liner stating did not demonstrate evidence of required standard in X competency. I asked for more detail and was told no.
cannot see on the information booklet how the weight was attributed between performance on verbal and numerical
It's average scores for all locations combined though, not per location. I'm high in the middle batch for both tests and oom in the 700's, Dublin.
Did they give feedback?
I'm the opposite. Group A for verbal and the middle of B for numerical and my oom is 300's. I'm guessing verbal might have been given more weight than numerical in determining the OOM.
Expecting about 3 or 4 weeks for shortlisting going off previous comps.
In 2019, I placed top 50 after tests but was eliminated based on the form.
