They don’t k is if they will accept you h til all the data is inputted.
Liberty are deffo taking on new business as the guy that bought my M3P last week got insured with them.
I'd suggest that you try to transfer the current car insurance over to the Tesla. This seems to be easiest way to get in. Then buy a new separate policy for the old car.
You are not the only one struggling.. I'm near similar to you in terms of driving experience etc.. Mine is up for renewal at the start of September, below is my result for MY RWD when I tried online today which a few said to give them a call but turned out declined.
Aviva, 123, AIG, Zurich, FBD all declined due to "outside of our current acceptance criteria"..
AA quoted me (Underwriter is Aviva) but about €200 more than my current insurer Allianz (€715).
Anpost is going to get back to me tomorrow morning (Underwriter is FBD).
AXA couldn't see the car reg online (which the same happened with a few of the declined insurer mentioned earlier) so I'm not holding out for much hope.. I think I might pop into one of the branch at the weekend and chance it there because I managed to get one last year from them in person.
The whole lot is a joke, if they know that they won't quote specific car, why not just state that they won't quote when people are keying in the car reg rather than wasting my time and their time.
I read that Liberty is not taking on people from Tesla Owner Ireland group on facebook so didn't even try.
I have one more to try tomorrow which is KennCo (Supposedly a Tesla Car Insurance Specialist per their website). 🤞🤞 finger cross.
Re the phantom braking issue.
Have raised this with Tesla and the cruise control obviously turned off by Tesla. The car has been kept like brand new and absolutely clean so do not know why this would happen. On Saturday there was mostly cloud and heading west at 5.30pm so the sun would have been too high to have been an issue imo and sun fairly non existent.
If the car in busy traffic was rear ended on the motorway because the car automatically suddenly braked, who would be at fault, the car behind me, myself the driver or Tesla for fault in their systems.
The Tesla techs are looking at the Telemetry and not sure if they can remotely access the dash cam but they should be able to show the car going from 120km to 30km on the lessor really quiet part of the motorway. The have not come back to me since asking all the questions and passing on to the techs. But this car clearly dangerous in cruise control and only 3 month old.
"EV specific" tyres are almost entirely a load of marketing bollocks - no need for them whatsoever, and minuscule benefits. From your pic, get the 'normal' ones and keep the €130 per corner in your pocket!
Had the same issue, 123.ie were cheapest for me
Here ya go
Good idea but there doesnt seem to be a single MY Long Range showing the reg on Done Deal at the moment ;-/
Pull any reg from Done Deal and use it for a quote. I did it when shopping around the day before
Called Liberty and AA. The rest online. AA cant give me a quote until I have the reg, which probably wont be until tomorrow. Collection Friday so want to have it sorted.
Are you calling or using the online site?
Thanks a mil! I am seeing (with AXA) €860 fully comp (double what I pay for existing car) or €525 third party. Will have to think about that one but at least I finally see a quote.
Online. In my experience getting quotes for my MY, there was little to no difference between phone and online quotes.
Thanks. Was that only when you called or online?
I got great quotes from Axa and FBD. Went with Axa.
Struggling to get a quote for insurance for a new model Y (Long Range). I’m 43, 20 years driving. No gaps in driving. Full Irish license. 9 years no claims. Any suggestions on companies? I tried Aviva, Allianz, Liberty (who I have a policy with already for another car).
They must not have done a good job integrating radar with the autopilot software because most other car manufacturers do an excellent job implementing their radar systems. I'm sure if they tried again it would be reliable, considering how they're an 'AI robotics' tech company.
Matter of opinion, but yes I think the upcoming facelift MY will be far better looking than the current one if it's similar to the new M3 front design. The speculated renders look really promising.
Coming up on 42k km on the original set of tyres after 15 months of driving and need to start looking at options to replace. I did have a quick look for a thread and couldn't find anything.
Wondering what tyres people are replacing with or any good recommendations ? I have no clue. I think it's Hankook that are on it, will check later. I'm assuming the tyres must be EV rated so not sure why Oponeo gave the non ev rated as an option when I searched by car model.
Have a lot less phantom braking in my non radar Y than I had in Model3 with radar
Far better looking?
After driving the new M3 without stalks for a considerable amount of time I can tell you there isn't really a problem with the indicators most of the time, except on mini roundabouts. However, I really missed the drive mode selector stalk though, screen wipe for forward/reverse isn't intuitive nor good ergonomics, especially for quick maneuvers/turnabouts, selector stalk is simply far superior for this function. Personally I would wait for the facelift next year, you'll pay higher interest rates but it'll be far better looking than the current MY, quieter, and have cooled seats.
That's the unfortunate side effect of Elon cost cutting to rely solely on cameras for Advanced Drivers Assistance Systems, there isn't much you can do to improve it, camera recalibration through the service menu perhaps? If there happens to be some oil on the windscreen it can cause inference errors due to glare/smudging of the camera image, try cleaning the windscreen exterior in front of the cameras with glass cleaner. Shadows can cause it, glare from low sun. Any previous car I owned with radar, this never happened. It's possible future facelifts/new models will integrate some form of radar/lidar, I believe they are testing Lidar on some cybertruck development vehicles.
I had the Tesla Ranger out today to sort out a misaligned window. The driver's door window was overlapping the centre pillar when opening the door ,and was not closing flush like the one on the opposite side.
Arrived 10 minutes early and spent about an hour in total here. Very impressed with the service.
Not instant but if you send it early enough, they’ll have it that afternoon. is there a feature you can pay for to get it quicker?
I wouldn’t bother to be honest as sending it Wednesday evening, it will be there Thursday afternoon so it will be cleared for Friday.
Does anyone know if the Citibank account Tesla use for final payment supports instant SEPA transfer? I likely cannot transfer until tomorrow evening and am hoping it clears with them before Thursday evening as my collection is scheduled for Friday.
On the base Model 3 the final price is actually less than the Headline price. I think it was similar on the Model Y before the grant reduction. It is a little confusing till you get the hang of it.
Confuses many. The headline rate is price beore adjustments for a) VRT (+3,913) and b) SEAI Grant (-3,500)
No. Tesla do or can offer to deliver your new car to your house. Ask them while you're waiting if you're interested. Arrives on the back of a tow truck and you sign for it like any other package after showing your driver licence ID.
thank you! Yes I think you are right. It’s minus the grant plus the VRT and some other bits. also, when ordering, it mentions “delivery”. I assume delivery is something that only happens in the US right? 😂
The one at the bottom is the price, other one is always a little off due to VRT or something.
