I was just looking at the parade volunteers page. Have they no public liability insurance. A kid gets injured or dies as a result of something happening and they wave their right to claim against the organisers.
It wouldn't encourage me to let my kids take part.
In fairness, not bad for a free festival. Imagine if we all gave a few bob to them....🤔 The possibilities. The brochure has a lot of businesses missing off it, that definitely gain from it.

As for him living in a 'mansion', it certainly isn't a mansion! 😂
Lots of people are CEOs of small private companies and a lot of those companies aren't worth a lot. They're not multi-nationals with millions on their balance sheets.
He obviously had few, or even zero, assets in his name, or he wouldn't have been granted legal aid. If the residence were in his name it's quite possible that it's mortgaged to the hilt and in negative equity, who knows.
As for the cars, it's pretty much guaranteed that they're in the name of one of the companies. In all the years that I've been dealing with company accounts I've never come across one director who had a car in their name. Sometimes their spouse owned a car, but usually the spouse was always a director and also had a company car.
A limited company is a distinct legal entity as if it's a different "person", so anything owned by a company can't be owned by the directors.
CEO on paper, which went threw to holding companies for the family, obviously he was highly in debt, is the mortgage of the family home paid off? Are the cars leased or company vehicle? Probably yes!
people WHO NEEDED legal aid yes. this man was CEO of how many companies. Has a mansion. A few nice cars. And gets legal aid. regular Joe soap would be rejected legal aid with a regular job, don’t see why this drug dealer should get it.
The sinola cartel will do nothing, as that seizure is the cost of doing business and is nothing in the grand scheme of that cartel, this isn't Mexico.
He got legal aid, as the family scrambled to get his name off all their companies so legally he has nothing even his family home, CAB are currently going threw the family in every detail and anyone associated to him business wise!
It doesn't make a dent as the profits from it are astronomical if it gets into Aus for ever one caught ten get threw, while still huge it doesn't sell on the streets of Aus for that.
THe days of having any decent names in entertainment for the festival are long gone by the looks of it! Such a shame
I know this refers to Australia but it makes the Ballyseedy haul look like peanuts in comparison. The drug must be in short supply over there now. 😛
Almost $1 billion worth of meth seized in Sydney following anonymous tip-off from the United States | Sky News Australia
People are entitled to apply for legal aid whatever the charges are against them. It's worse for the taxpayer when someone who arrives in the country to commit a crime is eligible for legal aid even if they've got no past connection with the country and have contributed zilch to the system.
I expect the cartel will settle with him and his family sometime down the road.
He probably didn't get any payment from the cartel as the delivery to Australia from Ireland failed.
clearly our court systems is as corrupt as him. Absolutely scandalous. Importing 33k million work of drugs and gets legal aid 😡
Nathan McD gets legal aid after all.
Kerry garden centre owner charged with record crystal meth seizure granted legal aid (irishexaminer.com)
Samantha cookes remanded again.
Also, the "flash cars" could have been company vehicles bought on finance, and not in his name. The judge must know more than us about the "means", but if he's assuming he might have assumed wrong.
His only connection to companies must be his shareholdings, but the value of those is directly tied to the value of the companies and we don't know what they're worth. For all we know he may have private investments that he didn't want to touch for some reason. We're going to have to put up with the mystery of it all. 😛
There was talk at the time that the house was rented.
I presume its part of the reason for the guilty plea (as well as maybe a slightly more lenient sentence)
Going to trial without free legal aid must be a seriously costly affair, especially if you dont have a leg to stand on.
That's it, I doubt there's much left and they already have legal fees up to now to pay! As someone else said, he didn't own Ballyseedy, hasn't done for a good few years. He has Smash Burgers in Ardfert but I doubt that makes a huge income. His family home may need to be sold I would imagine.
I would think his 'wealth' was mostly built on borrowings, BS, and 'non business' related income. With all that wound up now, he may not have a pot to……
What they said in court, anyway.
Was it over the deceased Thomas Dooley daughter not wanting one of Cork Dooley fellas son?
Still think the real motive is unknown; criminal gang sorting out issues is my guess. Anyway, good riddance but as is stated above, 'tune in next week' for some other heinous crime.
I doubt it will deter anyone else from going ape-sh!t at the next christening, wedding or funeral.
The Dooley's got life. No surprise there. Anyway 5 more upstanding men of culture off the streets of cork and Kerry for a few decades
If Nathan McD has significant means it makes you wonder why he needed to get involved in the "transaction" that's completely screwed the lives of himself and his family. If any of the companies that he was connected with needed funds, he could have introduced some of his significant means to prop them up.
There seem to be a lot of court cases where you assume that someone is loaded, yet those people still get free legal aid.
This case gets weirder by the minute.
I suppose means testing for taxpayer funded free legal aid takes a dim view if you own 2 fancy cars, a fancy house, personal fitness trainers and designer clothes and God knows what other bling and trappings of wealth.... But you get an insight into his mindset if he expects the rest of us law abiding tax paying citizens to cough up for his defence....
McDonnell hasnt owned Ballyseedy for the past 6/7 years
Jesus one would have thought he had enough money for the best legal representation and not free legal aid..
I guess the accounts are empty now.
