One more sleep till tickets go on sale.
Yeah I thinking about grabbing some of those Faxe cans, 1L and 10% or something. My wisdom is telling me that would be a bad life choice.
Even the ground would f*cking reject Rockshore..
Sacrificial can 🐑😂
it’s always the drink sponsor requiring it as part of exclusivity contract. They pay a lot of money which helps funds the line up so ultimately it’s in their power to make such a change. Same as what happened with BTP this year.
Festivals with total free flow don’t happen for long cause corporate interest and chequebook takes over.
is anyone selling a ticket at a reduced price ? Can only go the sat and Sunday and it’s very last minute decision
Yep, that was my point ….
Open can wont be enforced this year, but will next year … Baby steps..
Probably not, but it was certainly enforced by several stewards at BTP….
ive thought about this for EP before. If they had something like free-flow from 12-4pm, max 4 cans. it means you can drive people into the arena early. Probably removes some messiness in the campsite. People are in the arena so a small percentage will race back to get a few cans before the lock, but people will start to use the bars earlier. Maybe simplistic, but it can be controlled without being a blanket ban
One of our group contacted ATN and they replied with this:
“You will be able to bring in alcohol freely to the arena site as long as cans are opened.”
….
Ah piss off
get a few of those can closer things
I used to camp in Pinkmoon / Podpads at EP, there was a bar in the campsite, we used to pour our cans into the plastic glasses and walk through security no bother, this is always about getting people to spend money at the bars, the latest update from ATN is a move towards this, only open cans entering arena is impossible to enforce unless you are adding security checks
Pretty infuriating, I've been telling people in work who've only ever been to Picnic about how great it is that there are no security checks and that you can bring a big bag of cans wherever you like…
There's basically only 5 routes into the arena from campsites (red arrows on the map) , and all of them have stewards on them already (usually standing around doing not much). Two of them (boutique and family/pink moon) already have stewards checking wristbands.
So it's a pretty trivial thing to set up of they do plan on enforcing it.
that’s a shame alright, it’s not even just the booze , was planning to bring some fizzy waters and can of soft drink in for me and the kids also. I appreciate the cost of exclusive rights at the concert but it’s a killer when apart from Guinness you are faced with Rockshore, an appalling drink and a reminder of how ruthless Diageo are and how little they give a sh!t about their customers.
Unfortunately they will sell loads of it and get away with it as Diageo know they can insult us and treat us as the basic mass consumers we are who will literally drink the piss they serve up..and pay a premium for it !
Edit: anyway enough whinging about booze, it’s the music and craic that I’m going for
Edit: I know it’s not all about the alcohol but it’s the lack of transparency really. Looking forward to it this year, will reconsider next year depending on other policy changes
Hopefully it's just not enforced. There are a few different entrances into the site, queue will be shite if they start doing checks.
That's a shame. Will be interested to hear how the whole thing works out. As it is, free flow is one of the big differentials with the shitshow that EP has become. I hope that's not the start of the magic rubbing off. The disillusionment if, say, ATN 2025 came back with another 5,000 added on, a bit more commercialisation and no cans in the Arena?
And Kodaline as headliners.
I'm joking. I'm jealous as bejaysus of all of you heading down this weekend. It'll be amazeballs. Just hope they don't take their eye off the ball.
That's a bit of a balls. Suppose it'll have to be hold one open and put two in the jocks if it's enforced
hi everyone, first timer here. Any tips on what camp to go for? I’ll be down early enough on Thursday so I’m guessing it won’t be packed at the time I land in. Looking for chill vibes nothing too hectic if possible so to get some bit of sleep😅. Does it matter which one or is there some quieter than others. Thanks in advance!
Website has been updated also. Reckon they've been holding off on that one to make sure they shift as many tickets as poss before. Hopefully it's not enforced strictly.
Crisis aborted.God bless the 3D printer in work......I'm.now taking orders before tomorrow 🤣🤣
Might be worth bringing one of those cardboard drinks holders you find in a coffee shop with you in your day bag should you need to open. Add a lid something like below, but hard to get these lids at such short notice.
If it was advertised as this since December or whenever I'd not have been too put out by it. But it feels very sneaky to have just put it in the small print last minute.
could of been a recent enough requirement from Diageo
I've zero idea how it all works but you wouldn't imagine they hammer out details like that a day or two before the festival begins.
That’s the annoying thing. Majority will be under the illusion it’s the same rules as before and will be fairly ticked off. Bit of a fast one as they’ve been really going ham on the advertising lately to sell those extra tickets. Sour taste in the mouth. (sadly no free flowing cans to quench it). Maybe it won’t be policed well…
So does this mean big queues heading into main arena from campsite? Security going to be looking inside people's backpacks to make sure there's no cans in them?
