One more sleep till tickets go on sale.
Am I misremembering or were le Boom originally a male & female duo?
They were. With a somewhat different sound and live performance. They went on hiatus around 2019, without obviously the foresight of the impending pandemic. At some point during Covid, Christy (the male lead) decided to restructure the group and go again.
I saw what I saw, and I was relatively sober. It was for a guest female vocalist. They were even laughing about it, laughing at how they were getting away with it. Laughing at their audience, basically, I think that's what stuck in my craw more than anything. I can forgive just not being all that good.
Poll on ATN's Instagram about what day people are arriving. Been up an hour, currently:
36% Thursday
59% Friday
5% Saturday
Hmmm. Might have to revise the leaving time. Was thinking about going a little earlier (travelling from Antrim) but no point if the gates won't even be open. Usually takes us about 4.5 hours.
Carlow Weather man is not too positive on the weekend, temperatures dropping, wind moving in and a band of rain but too early to tell on that
No it doesn't look great, looking at Windguru (GFS etc) for Tramore which is the nearest spot it has and Fri / Sat are cool and windy, Sunday looks like cold, windy, rain all day and into the evening. Hopefully the rain stays away in the end on the Sunday, you can deal with a bit of cold and wind. And of course it could all change.
If we just collectively hope and wish and dream for no rain, real hard, all at the same time, like some sort of cheesy christmas movie.. the Carlow weather man (santa) might be able to pull some strings with the clouds etc.
At least this week will be dry so hopefully less chance of soggy ground when rain does hit. Fri/Sat looking relatively dry, if a bit grey and chance of light showers. Latest GFS model look like a gick Sunday morning/daytime https://www.netweather.tv/charts-and-data/gfs
Cant we just ask someone to nuke the weather system for us?? That'll surely work!
Here's a Windguru spot for ATN https://www.windguru.cz/856102
Its some decent market research, I hope they're not too worried about Friday traffic.
There will be weather.
There will also be big bags of cans.
Be grand.
Nuclear Winter > Irish July 2024
The good news is apparently they've paved some of the walkways so the mud shouldn't be as bad this year at least
No point in worrying about the weather, just dress accordingly or bring water proofs, was surprised how good the weather turned out for Forest Fest.
I'd take that tbh, doesn't look like much rainfall on the Sunday, I'd rather sunshine but will take mild weather and hard ground.
If we all adopt this young lady's attitude it'll be grand.
She'll catch her death..
Did you not see the condition of the campsites last year, a lot of people stuff was soaked
And my tent got ripped by that bstard hurricane that arrived on Sat morning !!! 😣
Yeah my tent had survived multiple trip to Europe and Africa, but alas, the Irish summer proved too much
Completely forgot about that
July last year was a freak event though, a full month of rain topped of with the end of a freaking hurricane. Total anomaly, rest of the weekends weather was ok apart from a few showers Saturday, but alas the ground was already fucked by then. I wonder how long it took to recover after last year, must have been months.
Friday night was the stuff of nightmares… it just seemed to never end!
Went out for 5 minutes of Loyle Carner, got drenched and huddled in The Schweppes bar until Overmono.
Doing my homework and I came across Tau & the Drones of Praise. Looks like they did a track with Damo Dempsey. Could he be one of the TBA special guests??
Be a great special guest, looks like he's gigging in Wexford on Saturday night anyway so will be in the area anyway.
Wondering if I could get away with just bringing shorts? Have a poncho for any showers.
Find shorts better for when it's raining (and warm enough out). Your legs dry quicker than wet trousers !
Find these handy for festivals.. while not being the most fashionable obviously.
Handy when the evenings cool down.
My picks out of the line up, haven't been contributing too much to thread as was working other festivals, will be on-site tomorrow evening.
