Its the same thing anyway
The 750M is from taxes
More funding for excessive secret golden parachutes.
The numbers are below, to give a comparison in 2019 they spent 330m and in 2020 330m, 2021 315m and 2022 332m
Proposed €225m next year, €240m in 2026, and €260m in 2027.
Can't find 2023 anywhere, probably not released
But that's circa a 100m cut, who is buying "favourtism"?
What exactly did people think the government would do? close down the natioanal broadcaster when so many depend on it?
Pure nonsense spouted by some people online who don't seem to have a clue what they are talking about and just complain about every move the government makes. by the way I am not saying this is you.
Put the money into Health instead of RTE
More than enough already goes into health and is simply swallowed whole. It's just that there is zero accountability or value for money ethos when it comes to public expenditure
https://cormaclucey.blogspot.com/2024/07/why-is-public-sector-budgetary.html
A recent Department of Health report analysed hospital activity and expenditure between 2016 and 2022 , including several years before the appointments of Donnelly and Watt. It reported “a 3.8 per cent increase in overall activity, compared with an inflation-adjusted rise in expenditure of 45 per cent (nominal rise of 68 per cent) and a 29 per cent increase in staffing numbers”.
Do anything other than give it to RTE (or the malcontents in the HSE). How about increasing funding for schools so that parents already paying crippling rates of personal taxation aren't asked for contributions in September each year? How about giving it back to taxpayers? The more the government spends the more it wastes - give it back to people so they can waste it instead
Very simply - move RTE to a subscription model. You choose RTE, you choose to pay. You don't, you don't (note: zero chance of this actually happening)
Examine the cost/benefit analysis of selling the land in Montrose and moving out past the M50. Basically cut it back to the bone; then maybe have a conversation about tax payer funding
Do these figures not incorporate advertising income?
Or Flip Flops
operating costs without special events
So would be higher operating costs including events
TV license is a subscription model, don’t want to pay it don’t buy a tv 👍
and what will that do? Health is getting billions and not millions. You think 200m a year is going to have a huge impact in hSE and leave Ireland without a national broadcaster? Doesn’t make any sense
23.5billion into the HSE this year alone.
Mental Health, Beds, Autistic Kids Help etc., I am sure it could be used
Limerick Hospital and Waterford Hospital could do with funds
You mentioned previously about education yes help with teaching aids and costs etc., we do not have free education in Ireland despite what the government says, the cost for a child in even junior infants for books and supplies is astonishing not to mention crested school uniforms
AFAIK the Health portfolio has been held by either a FG or FF minister with our current Taoiseach probably going down as the worst ever
RTE would not need that much money if salaries were cut and lands sold, hell even use Montrose as IPA location but for genuine IPAs
Honestly that make no sense at all, RTE is required, like it or not i was joking saying convert Montrose into a asylum centre and it seems now people are running with it, hilarious
I mentioned on the child benefit thread about using that money better, not robbing Peter to pay Paul
Kevin Bakhurst total is €337,500 which he lied about despite capping at €250,000 as the "basic salary", just seems like an endless cycle of corruption and fraud that will continue

Sure how would the government propaganda machine survive then
yes Rte is a propaganda machine
Is this the conspiracy theory forum?
I get pension contributions, a lot of companies go the same. I have never counted it or heard anyone count the pension contributions in salary?
250k would be his basic salary, well if h etc we worked for my company anyway
Seems fairly standard as well not to include pension in basic, does anyone in HSE/any government job include pension in salary?
They received income of €195m in 2022 from the licence fee as per the annual report.
https://www.rte.ie/annual-report-2022/pdf/RTE_Annual_Report_YE22.pdf
Pay rises in the general economy from 2022 to 2025 are running at around 12%. Applying that to the €195m figure gives us €218m. Government are providing funding in total from the licence fee and exchequer of €225m in 2025. Two things are happening:
(1) The Government are covering the shortfall because of people dodging the licence
(2) The Government is giving a real funding increase of around €7m.
Eamon O'Cuiv is standing down from politics at the next election.
Even by FF standards he was some gobshite - a gobshite's gobshite, if you will.
Another who won't be missed. There's been a single post on the Galway forum mentioning him, that's it…
He is in my constituency. Often topped the poll. Gobshite is right.
The RTE bailout was announced in the last cabinet meeting and after the Dail recess. The timing alone speaks volumes.
Topped the poll yet you two claim he was a “gobshite”
Leave it at that
Why are you complaining about the RTE bailout? Sure copying and pasting RTE article is 99% of your posts, what would you do if it was shut down? Anyway the “bailout” is not really a bailout as already pointed out, maybe do a little bit of research an odd time, copying and pasting RTE isn’t research by the way 👍
Yes he was a gobshite. FF grew a lot of them. Totally self serving. The Dr Valera link got him most of his votes.
He was completely against the FG and Green coalition too. He was completely irrelevant since the FF crash.
Absolutely he is a gobshite - an electorally successful one.
The Official Languages Act continues to bleed the taxpayer while creating expensive non-jobs for Connemara boys and girls.
Yes the two people on internet, hiding behind a keyboard calling someone a “gobshite”, a person who has been elected multiple times by the people of Ireland
😂😂😂😂
If he walked up to you now you wouldn’t say boo 👻
🤣🤣🤣🤣
So you're a FF voter after all. Interesting.
That's a leap, how did you draw that conclusion from his post?
It was a series of posts actually. Cluedo can read the clues.
And you're a Green voter 😉 Yet you have no issue with FG undermining the Greens at will as we approach the election in November...
If you think winning election(s) is proof of not being a gobshite, there are numerous examples from the present Oireachtas never mind from history to prove you wrong.
