thats a terrible chip, will be 3 behind going into final round
Now he has them right where he wants them..in the headlights rather than the rear view mirror.Great strategy..roll on tomorrow😁
that putt on 18 sums up Lowry day. He’s not out of it tho 3 behind
Might be an interesting interview coming up. Do they poke the bear
Only three shots behind after that collapse, there's hope for tomorrow.
2 early birdies and hes right back in it,hopefully out of spotlight he settles dowm and plays up to rounds 1 & 2.Think all the missed putts today allied to horrendous playing conditions eventually melted his head. His team need to work on him, ordinarily his play today would have played him out of contention but it didnt so hes lucky to have another chance .
lol. After all that 3 behind the leader starting the final round he would have taken that if offered it on Thursday. The only good thing was his meltdown round happened on the 3rd round so a chance to redeem himself tomorrow
I think one of his biggest problems was the pace of the greens. They slowed up so much with the rain, he just didn't seem able to hit them as hard as he needed to. He wasn't the only one, lots of them seemed to struggle with the speed.
The other stuff was all him. Lost the head and tried to make up the deficit with predictable results.
I did say yesterday he doesnt generally put 4 good rounds together,if he starts well tomorrow the crowd will be behind him and he might rebound.
Out with Scott tomorrow. someone will need to give him a kick up the backside and tell him to do whatever he needs to do to get whatever is in his system out so he can move on. If not he hasn’t a hope tomorrow.
Yes. He lost focus today and let his emotions get the better of him. You can feed off your emotions to improve your focus a la Padraig in 2007 and especially 2008 but I'm afraid that today, Shane lost his composure.
I just don't see him contending tomorrow unless luck really goes his way and the leaders come back to him.
He lost head and even parts of his game he can usually rely on (short game etc) completely let him down. He hit a lot of bad chips (18 was really bad).
Hopefully gets the focus back now and has a good run at it tomorrow.
He's still in it at three back, high winds is what I want to see, he's without doubt the best in the wild winds, with no rain of course.
Getting thick with caddies, spectators and probably himself is a pattern with Shane. Loses composure and this then seems to affect his putting which is fragile anyway. Playing in those conditions today has to be frustrating so if any of the leaders was going to implode today, it was likely to be him.
He might get away with losing composure on a GAA pitch but not in golf.
When things don't go his way he gets thick. Whereas when things don't go Rory's way, he gets bewildered.
At least he is still within 3 shots of the lead and can still win it.
why are you bringing GAA into it, is that some kind of a side swipe at his background?
Then you contradict yourself at the end that he can still win it because he’s within 3 shots, so he might get away with the one round where he lost his composure.
Had a moan about the ball rollback to the press after because of the 17th 😂
They play in tough conditions once or twice a year, every other week you’ve lads hitting a drive and iron to 600 yard par 5s.
Nice to see them playing in our normal conditions and struggling.Gives me a nice warm glow.😁
Disappointed in Shane really, as a fan.
Turned up to first tee so positive and a great attitude. Things went wrong on 8 ...but so what ..part of the event ..you dont let wheels come off ..forcing stuff ..driver off deck...
Temper
Bad language
Banging clubs
Blaming crowd ..media
Course set up
It was real Rory like carry on attitude wise.
I'm being harsh now , but lad in America too long ...couldn't handle bad weather and slow greens ...should be meat and veg. Also ..where was Bo when needed..
Too far back now with lads above.
One that got away..
Only 3 back, could have been worse. -7 wins so he still needs a 65………
I don't see why the crowd would be behind him. He's an absolute ignoramus and behaves like a petulant child when things aren't going his way. Does the man of the people schtick then when things going well. Such a dislikable character. If it was Bryson everyone would be calling him out
Irish media make out butter wouldn’t melt in his mouth but really when pressure on he’s not and if someone else people on here be calling him out. As said earlier Harrington seems to be an exception to the norm. Comes across as a genuine nice guy no matter what the situation is.
Bo isn't his caddy anymore
They poked and he had a rant about tee positions on some holes. Disappointed to hear it. The golf course was same for everyone
same, very disappointed in his handling of relatively common Irish golfing weather.
He mustn’t have played Winter League growing up.
I know....just felt his caddy could have calmed him down or guided him back on track a bit more...
I don't think you're being too harsh at all. Shane seems like a grand fella in general but far too much having a go at fans, volunteers, caddies. Not a nice trait. I've no huge issue with him hanging a club or the odd expletive but leave the spectators out of it. Not their fault he hits a bad shot.
Shane is more charismatic than the average pro golfer. Which is why he's held up as bit of the people's champion.
He should be getting told by his team how much of a good draw he had weather wise the first two days and to suck up his whinging and go out and win it today.
What annoyed me the most yesterday was if you compare his attitude to Rose. Both had things not go their way but Rose battled to a good round whereas Shane threw in the towel and got angry.
I hope he can brush it off today and put himself back in contention but I worry that this has passed him now and there will be a hangover from yesterday.
For those saying that the caddy should calm him down, I'm pretty sure Shane is the type of person on the course that is impossible to talk off the ledge.
It doesn't matter what you think. If you've been watching the tournament you'll have heard the response of the crowd every time he hits a good shot. They love him.
