Im going with spontaneous combination of shooter taking a chance and the two agencies dropping the ball between them. Ive seen it happen enough times in other spheres. If the whole area was under police control or secret service control I dont think it would have happened.

Back on Monday the thing was odd…since then what have we learned has only made it worse!!
We've had the Director the Secret Service suggest that the reason the roof was not protected was because it was too slopey… despite the other snipers being positioned on slopey roofs..she should be fired on the spot for that alone.
We know that the shooter had come to the attention of the security in the hours before the event started, two of them even took pictures of him, but they lost track of him.
Then it was suggested by the same Director of the Secret Service that there were snipers in the building the shooter was on top off….but that isn't clear.
A cop had a peak on the roof but the shooter pointed his gun at him, causing him to fall back and injure himself.
We are now told that the snipers who were filmed looking at the sniper were not the snipers that took him out, so now we have two sniper teams with the shooter in their focus…
And we've seen multiple videos of members of the public videoing the guy as he crawled along the roof and warning the cops…
And yet the Trump speech continued on.
I mean, it's like a comedy sketch of a movie!!!
IF Donald Trump was being buried this week, I'm pretty sure the US would be in a completely different mess today. It's a good job we haven't seen any riots or violent backlash because the whole thing is absurd!!!

Yes, a conspiracy to assassinate Trump without Trump knowing, is a slight possibility, but a conspiracy whereby Trump is in on it to survive the attempt is beyond ludicrous

It's an election promise from him so we absolutely should be concerned on what he plans to do. There's a reason why Putin is happy to see him back in power.

I don’t think any reasons given on why Trump is so dangerous would sway you to think it.
Yeah, it would be easier. Which is why I mentioned Crooks was closer than the standards distance and also that was the minimum standard for the Army, not one for marksmanship.
From what I'm reading online, it seems like it should have been a very hittable target at that range and with that weapon (though it was not the 'best' weapon for it). But open to correction from someone with experience!
Maybe Crooks would have made the hit if he hadn't been disturbed, but then as I mentioned, why didn't he shoot earlier.

I'd say him saying that it's okay for Russia to start invading the countries he doesn't deem to be paying enough into their defences is a pretty great way of destabilising the West. Then there's all the genocide if he effectively hands Ukraine over to the Russians...

It was largely a stationary target, the range of movement of the head was limited. He was closer than the minimum distance for US army standards.
Against that, Crooks would have been disturbed by the police officer and then turned to snap the shots off. That does raise the question of why he hadn't shot earlier, he wasn't going to get any closer and Trump had been on stage for several minutes already.

Well, if you are using WW3 as the benchmark here, we’ll leave it there. He’s about as dangerous and volatile as can be. And only the U.S. is a democracy with checks, he’d be completely out of control
