They probably just failed to do their due diligence and the lad oversold his skillset. He's a perfect patsy and they evidently pre-scrubbed his digital footprints. All-in-all, it was a well done operation, with the only problem that he missed.
He had no ID on him and no previous criminal record. Yet the FBI were able to identify him very quickly, using DNA. Which begs the question: how do they have his DNA already and checked against what database?

They picked a local lad who would have been identifiable by hundreds of people in the area from a photo.
They did not identify him very quickly using DNA:

There's no national DNA database and he had no criminal record which means they shouldn't have had his DNA to check against.
It suggests that either the FBI has an illegal database of american's DNA, or they had his DNA in advance for some reason, or just knew who he was already.

The morning after the shooting, you shared a video and claimed it was of the shooter... You shared it because it was a guy pretending to be him and saying he hated Trump and the Republicans. Now the fact he's turned out to be a Republican, you're trying to downplay it. Other posters are claiming he's a Democrat plant. It's just pretty telling that certain posters aren't willing to accept the known facts about the shooter.
