I get that's the official protocol but it doesn't make much practical sense to me in the actual scenario that unfolded here. If there's another shooter in the crowd waiting to open fire when he cataches sight of Trump again, what difference does it make if they wait 10 seconds, 30 seconds, 2 minutes? Could you not argue that waiting a bit longer gives more covering snipers the chance to get into position, get their eye in properly etc.?
Are you trying to say somebody not making a concession phone call on the night of the election is the same as somebody not accepting the results of the election 4 years after the fact (and instigating an attempted coup to overturn the results of the election)?
Hillary Clinton didn’t give a concession speech to thank those that worked on her campaign the night she lost. It was considered very poor form not to at least thank those that worked on your campaign for free. The left have completely blown the Trump thing out of all proportion, apparently now he’s Hitler. The more these accusations are thrown around the less they mean. We’ve seen it here in Ireland too, everything is far right then nothing is, so it’s lost all meaning.

But if they were hunkering down behind the podium until they got the 'shooter down' message anyway, does this stuff really matter? I suppose it's to protect him from a theoretical second shooter but if you that's a serious risk should they not be waiting on the floor until there's some sort of screen put up between him and the car?
yep, that was ridiculous, proves the guy is a complete narcissist. Putting more people in potential danger, over a pair of shoes. A female secret service agent had his hat in her hand, the same hand she’s using to try balance and get down the steps and stumbles a bit at one point…
Think of the mindset, “ I’ve just been shot, there are dozens of people here literally putting their lives on the line to protect me, but my shoes and my hat and gesturing.. breaking cover and making myself a target again are more important to me than getting the fûck out of here pronto, getting safe and keeping everyone else safe. “

Definitely : in a situation like that, the person being shielded by the secret service is supposed to follow their instructions to the letter, as they are the professionals. Trump's ego is so huge though that he effectively took over and treated 'them' like minions….it was all about him and his ego.
Remember when Trump made the secret service take him on a joy ride when he was infected with Covid?

I'd imagine the Secret Service members are a bit disgruntled about the whole thing too. You're putting your life on the line to shield this guy from an unknown quantity of shooters and he's stopping to pose for pictures.

They surrounded Trump as much as possible, but you can't just rush him off the stage immediately because in the immediate aftermath of the shooting you don't know if you're going to be bringing him in a direction where there could still be danger. You don't know if the shooter is just waiting for another shot (and Trump could become more exposed when taking him down steps off the stage because you can't cover him as well). You don't know if there are more shooters. You likely have to wait until more agents get there to better secure an escape route.
Didn't help that Trump then raised himself out of the Secret Service huddle. Can't blame the Secret Service for that.

The Democrats through corrupt means selected Hillary Clinton as their candidate and lost to PT Barnham. Rather than face the humiliation of the loss to Trump they conjured up the bogeyman of a hitleresque rise to power as well as all of the Russian guff.
But the main reason that the Hitler analog is pure fantasy is as follows. Trump is an isolationist. He has military debacle to his name like Bush,Obama and Clinton and now Biden too.

yes and no, but by him effectively protecting his ego post shooting, he effectively delayed the transfer from the stage to the car, this should not have been allowed to happen, nobody said no to him, this is whats required after such an incident, this is exactly what the secret service are trained for, to take complete control in such situations, it didnt happen, he was allowed to behave in the way he did….
yup, shooter was spotted, police alerted, but appropriate reaction didnt occur, more serious problems…..

Was trump in control of the situation then in the aftermath of the shooting
As above its definitely bizarre that the shooter was spotted but that trump wasn't removed from the stage
he should not have been allowed to call the shots on stage immediately after, he should have been hurtled off the stage into the car, and quickly, but he was allowed to stop and search for his shoes, then of course allowed interact with the crowd, none of that should have been allowed, theres needs to be a serious review there, but it also shows the level of power and control he can have at times, hes allowed place others in danger, which is worrying….
From news reports the area outside the perimeter was supposed to be checked by local police the shooter placed a ladder on the wall to access the roof the ladder was hidden by a tree the shooter was seen by police with a rifle scope the shooter was seen by secret service on the roof for 3 minutes before he started to fire eg the secret service had ample time to shoot him on the roof how was he able to place a ladder on the building without being noticed by local police he was seen on the roof by bystanders before he started shooting
There s a litany of mistakes by local police and secret service the roof and overlooking buildings should have been guarded by local police or else manned by secret service

this would make complete sense, and probably is where he ll go with it, this would be what a narcissist would probably do, so….
