two weeks?
My laptop is now not working, I cannot figure out the issue, I’m guessing it’s water damage from my kids. I can use my sons’ PC with a webcam.
I don’t have access to the familiarisation material here, but does anyone know if the webcam is sufficient for the assessment?
At least we will have our results in the next two weeks!
Spoke to a few people in my department applying for this and they found some of it quite difficult. Makes me feel better about my performance and it being possible that the curve might be quite low for progressing through the competition.
Found the Verbal okay I think? I feel like there was a lot of trick Qs in it though which resulted in a lot of cannot says as answers. I found the Numerical very difficult. Don't think i have a chance of passing based on the numerical. I think the sample sova assements were much easier
Refresh your memory on the estimation of trends.
The answer options are five figures long and only have minute differences, so estimation shouldn't actually be possible, and in the real civil service you'd be put on a PIP for "estimating" data like that, but it's what'll get you through this ridiculous test.
Going to do mine after lunch, any tips? Everyone seems to think it is very difficult..
I found the numerical one extremely difficult, the graphs were shockingly hard to read and a couple of the questions I just had to guess, 25% chance of getting them right I suppose, definitely failed it.
The verbal was fine but definitely a lot more cannot says than expected.
It's tiger rules, you only have to be faster than the other guy.
2 of my numerical questions were guessed, I spent a few minutes on the 1st one and didn't want to waste time on the 2nd same type of question, I couldn't figure them out at all. Not saying I got the rest of them right but definitely not those 2

how tricky is the wording in the verbal, lots of traps?
Flew through the verbal in less than 15 minutes. Maths probably took closer to 25 minutes and that was with a couple of guesses thrown in
so its graded on a curve kind of? if everyone only gets 1 or 2 questions right the people who get 2/15 still progress?
union won’t get involved cos it’s hard.
sova tests are notoriously hard anyway
I also did poorly I reckon. I think it's the worst I have ever done in these! I got all the practice ones correct but feel like I messed up in the real tests!. It's probably more to do with me than the tests as I got rattled and panicked on the maths and guessed far too many rather than concentrating on getting them correct. A few of the questions I didn't understand what they were asking even.
What exactly was everyone finding hard about the numerical test?
I did too (left feedback i mean). I was NOT complimentary! I've never done the feedback before but had to this time it was so bad. Whether it'll make any difference....
I lost connection too! Only for about 5 minutes but I nearly had a kiniption fit. Disaster all round for all it seems.
It doesn't matter how difficult they are. There's a fixed number of people going to get through regardless.
I've heard this complaint every time there's a competition for HEO internal or run by PAS, never heard of the union doing anything.
The numerical was awful! I did a lot of prep and have never struggled with assessments before but not a chance I reached qualifying standard 😭 also lost connection for 10-15 minutes…
Everyone is describing the questions as "hard", but I would describe them as "nonsensical" :)
I've a feeling the Union might get involved in this competition, even though I'm not sure on what basis they could.

Oh my goodness, I found that very tough indeed. I normally sail through these tests but that was HARD.
I think I rushed through the verbal as I was worrying about the numerical and definitely got one very obvious one wrong and that's only the mistake I noticed! I'm sure there were more.
The numerical, never my strong point but as it used be that you only had to pass I never worried before. I took way way longer than projected 15 mins and will be very lucky if I got half of them right.
No offence but I hope you all did crap. That might give me a fighting chance 😆😆 Seriously though, I think they were very tough and hopefully the powers that be will go a bit easy on us.....

Just did the tests. Well numeracy was...eh nothing like the examples, and not very clear re charts and details.
This year's heo competition seems very difficult. After all there's a presentation and interview to come if you get through.
I gone everybody left feedback in regards to the above as this year's campaign seems extremely difficult compared to other years
