That's a fair summary. I would add the nuance that most of the major sources are still running with the story that he donated that $15 to the liberal campaign group ActBlue, as the donor not only had the same name, but also address as the shooter: https://time.com/6998557/thomas-matthew-crooks-trump-rally-shooter-fbi-motive/ So in all likelihood it was the same person. I haven't seen a report on the difference in his age and the donor.
We will know more when they release what they find on his phone. I suspect it will end up that he was apolitically motivated. Much to the disappointment of both sides.

Let me guess you think all the cases against Trump are politically motivated? You think all news is "fake news"? You think the right to bare arms due to an outdated amendment in a really old document to be of higher importance than the life of children who get regularly gunned down? While not yet proven, there's considerable evidence in the public domain (a huge amount of it from his own mouth) to suggest he's a paedophile who molested his own daughter and dozens of others, raped many more women than he's been convicted of and, what should be most worrying of all: that he's an FSB asset.

PA restricts primary voting to those registered in that party and Democrats in PA have urged their voters to register for the opposition and support the weakest of Republican candidates. In other words, we can’t assume that Crook was some lunatic far righter aggrieved that Trump wasn't conservative enough!
I guess this all means that the Democrats now can't push Biden out as it would be, um, a figurative assassination (I wince at that myself) . Which is all good for Trump. Frankly I was thinking if he'd been killed, it would have still been good for the Republicans.
