The police do it a lot of the time. When a president, or former one in this case, makes an appearance, the SS go out beforehand and scout the place out. They liaise with the local police and get them to do most of the work. That's because they simply don't have enough people.
I'd imagine in this case they probably imagined the local police would have the building locked down so they don't need to keep watch on it. They might have told the police to do it and the police messed up, or they might have forgotten to tell the police.
I don't know if it's been mentioned yet, but there's a great book called Zero Fail. It's about the secret service and covers all the times they mess up. And they've messed up a lot. I read it last year, it's really good.

A lot of the fcuk ups are caused by budgetary constraints. They don't have enough people. the guys they have work overly long hours. There's a big turnover in staff. Also, as an organisation, they tend not to learn fast and there's a ridiculous amount of internal politics within the organisation. .
Trump is a wally.
That doesn't mean it's ok to try to kill him. That's the topic of this thread.
Damn that really was a close call thank God he tilted his head
It's stupid people on both sides inciting violence that are the problem.
You seem to believe that "the left" are purer than the driven snow, I'm not going to argue with a zealot.
Also you have absolutely no manners whatsoever either so "lol" all you like.
The shooter was actually at the other end of that roof….
Looking at that pic … Would it be normal to have a 'rally' in a farmers field ?!???
Seems a bit 'strange'.. . Yes ? No ?
Makes you wonder why SS didn't secure all possible buildings with a clear line of sight to President Trump
🤣🤣🤣 ….
"im telling on yoooouuuuu" …..
I love these polarising threads……… 😏
Is there any proof yet that the shooter is a "leftist"?
It's not him some other leftist saying he is going to slit republicans throats
Hahahaha. There's just no words.
I don't know if anyone has posted this but there's a video of what appears to be the alleged shooter shouting obscenities like "Fascists" at couple people with a folding table canvassing for an election.
Totally unhinged behavior if it's true.

Similarly to my above question, as an Irish person, why are you behind Trump?
And I don't mean a list of answers as to why an American / someone living in America is behind Trump.
Why you, living here? I really don't understand it.
Indeed. but the two old white guys that are on offer are just as grubby TBH.Always wonder WHY anyone would want that job. Your past, present, and future life inc your friends and family become public property for everyone to come in and around in to find dirt.you are under a constant spotlight, and have the burden of responsibility of leading the most powerful nation on the planet and have a button that can annihilate millions of lives in 20 minutes. And get paid chump change for the responsibility.
What policies of Trump do you think would benefit us here in Ireland? Or even Europe?
Genuinely curious.
He's a rapist. Surely you know that?
There are many Irish ppl who are fully behind Trump.
Especially now with the miracle of Saturday with him surviving the bullet.
And Trump is not a good man who wouldn't do anything unless it's for his or his families direct benefit, regardless of any harm it does to the general population.
If you think it's better for the states to have that as a president, Vs an elderly man who by most metrics has done a pretty good job as president, that says a lot about your beliefs.
I don't understand the concept of your last sentence.
Anyone taking a side in these mess needs to give their head a wobble.
When one is so demonstrably worse than another, we should absolutely take a side. As the quote goes
"the world is in greater peril from those who tolerate or encourage evil than from those who actually commit it."
unfortunately in Ireland (probably the entire west tbh) we are beholden to the USA politically, financially and culturally. We tend to follow much of their trends not to mention our facilitation (and occasional cheerleading) of their war machine.
Trump isn't without his flaws - his Zionism is a huge problem for me but Id rather him than any of the others put forth in recent times.
The machine fcuked over Ron Paul in the 2000s and i'm convinced the world would be such a better place had he been elected.
Trump is the best of the rest.
Because Robert Deniro and Johnny Depp are the only thing you have. Meanwhile the proven rapist ex president has described immigrants as subhuman and urged his cult to attack the Capitol, resulting in several deaths, but it's 'voices of the left' who are the problem? Lol at wherever you are getting this stuff from.
Luckily nobody is voting for a Clinton in November.
I'm not furnishing you with anything.
No rather factual unfortunatly but there are plenty of other conspiracy theories like Whitewater, Monica Lewinsky,Bills frequent visits via the Lolita Express to Epstenis Island, and inexplicly people dying around them whenever embarrassing facts could be produced.
What actual Democrat has incited violence? A list for Republicans would run into the hundreds. Anxiously awaiting your list. But not just names, you'll need to provide the quotes as well. And quotes like 'bullseye', that even my 6 year old would understand after a little explanation, will not do. Thanks in advance.
Biden is an elderly man who is having trouble functioning at any level.
No I don't think he suggested that someone should "take Trump out".
My point was that there are a lot of voices on the left who are happy to call for violence against their enemies but gasp in horror when their enemies do the same.
Trump rewriting his RNC speech…
https://www.mediaite.com/news/trump-reveals-hes-rewriting-nomination-speech-following-assassination-attempt-a-chance-to-bring-the-country-together/
That would be what we refer to as a 'conspiracy theory'.
Which one?Bill and Hillary have been up to their rotten necks in scandals that go back to the time of Bill Clinton being a governor in Arkansas. The Mena airport murders and drug running, will start you for six.
Can you explain to me why an Irish person living in Ireland would support Donald Trump?
What policies of his benefit you, in any way whatsoever?
😂 Lol. There is no Conspiracy Theory here. Sure even the BBC were discussing his shoes and the delay they caused taking him off the stage.
